It was starting to attract other people's attention now, with all her yelling. Someone got up and walked over to them. "Do you need me to call 911?"
Kaz let out a groan, he didn't wake up though. He had a very faint pulse.
“I… I don't know.” she answered, not taking her eyes off Kaz. Hannah had never been in a situation like this before. On one hand, calling for help… it could help him but at the same time, the medics would want to contact both of their parents and want to know why they weren't in school.
Kaz's pulse was plummeting, and he was getting less and less responsive as the seconds were going bye.
He was getting more and more pale as well…his chest slowly rising up and down…maybe someone should do something.
“Oh, no.” she whimpered. “Yes! Please call an ambulance!” she decided, unsure of what to do. Hannah wasn't trained in CPR and her medical knowledge was limited.
The person nodded and quickly called for an ambulance, one showed up a few minutes later. Hannah was allowed to ride with him, since he had grabbed her hand and all. During the ride he spiked, and they had to revive him, luckily his pulse came back. When they got to the hospital they were separated again and she was left in the waiting room.
Hannah was glad that she was allowed to stay with Kaz when the ambulance came and held his hand the whole time. It was surprisingly reassuring. Except when he needed to be revived. That was almost as terrifying, if not more so, as when he blacked out.
The waiting however was agony. She knew that she couldn't be in the room while the doctors were… working and running tests. She just wished she knew what had happened to him.
After a good hour they came back to get her, a nurse lady came out to the waiting room and called her name.
"Miss Hannah?"
“Yes?” Hannah answered, standing from the sterile and uncomfortable chair. “Is he ok? What happened to him?” she asked nervously.
"He's in a room hooked up to an iv cord, he's awake and has requested to speak to you personally." She moved to leave the room, ",follow me.'
Hannah nodded and quickly followed the nurse, trying to compose herself. The fact that he was awake was a bit of a relief but… Well, she hoped he wouldn't be mad that she had to let that person call an ambulance for him.
He sitting in bad seemingly waiting for her as she walled in, when she was in the room he gestured for her to sit down. He looked the nurse,
"you can leave us alone now, thank you."
The nurse nodded and left. He looked at her.
Hannah took a deep breath before she walked over to the hospital bed and sat next to Kaz. “What… Did they tell you what happened?” she asked, clearing her throat softly, not quite looking at him and trying not to move around too much.
He sighed looking out the window, before looking down at his hands. He took a deep breath in and looked at her,
"I neglected to tell you that…I have a medical condition.." He let out a soft sigh, uncleching his fist as he did so.
“What kind of medical condition?” she asked, relaxing a little and finally meeting his gaze. “Is it serious?”
He sighed once more leaning back in bed. "It can be…I have a heart condition. Basically extreme amounts of stress or panic trigger my body and my heart starts beating fast, and then my body can't handle it so it deflats almost immediately I guess you could say."
Hannah nodded thoughtfully as she listened to his explanation. “And talking about our parents and how they treat us stressed you out.” she reasoned gently. “They… The EMTs in the ambulance had to revive you.”
"Im….im sorry hannah.." He sighed, running a hand through his hair before just rubbing his face.
"I should have told you about I just.." He didn't finish the sentence. He didn't know what he would even say.
"Maybe you should just go."
Hannah shook her head and gently placed her hand on top of his free one. “You don't have to apologize for this. If anything… I should be the one saying “sorry.” I brought up the topic and we just ended up egging each other on.” she sighed. “Besides, we just met today. Just because we're soulmates doesn't mean you have to tell me everything on the first day.”
He surprised when she grabbed his hand with hers, placing it gently. He looked over at her as she spoke, he gave her hand a soft squeeze and offered her a smile. Different then his normal grin.
"I was the one that kept going though, I didn't have to say anything…but thank you saying that, and..staying."
She smiled softly back, feeling her face warm slightly as he squeezed her hand. “I… I have the feeling that you and I could go back and forth on who’s more sorry or who thinks they have a reason to be.” she pointed out. “But you’re welcome… And I'm just not comfortable with just leaving you here. The waiting room was… pretty boring. And I was so worried about you.” she admitted.
He let out a soft chuckle, "you were worried about me? Awww, I'm touched that you didn't come in just because the waiting room was boring." He grinned at her, holding her hand still.
“You know what I mean.” she laughed softly. “And yes, I was worried. I've never seen someone… just pass out like that before. I was scared.” she explained with a sigh.
"Yeah..again I'm sorry for just passing out on you, I just felt that all off a sudden I was out and I didn't have any control in that moment." He put a hand on his neck. "But it means a lot that you were worried, and that you stayed." He smiled softly at her.
She smiled softly back, blushing a little. “You don't have to apologize. If it's a medical issue… then you have nothing to be sorry for. Though I would appreciate it if you didn't scare me like that again.” she teased.
"Yeah I will try my best not too, I should have a heart monitor but I think it got turned off when we were sitting down or something.' He chuckled nervously.
