“Oh… strange. I suppose that’s what I’d have to use to purchase food and stuff, right?”
“Oh… strange. I suppose that’s what I’d have to use to purchase food and stuff, right?”
“You would be correct.” She glanced briefly over at him before looking back to the road, “But I can help out a little bit.”
“Oh, you don’t need to do that. I can survive without food for a while.”
“Oke doke, I’ll just come over tomorrow to see how you’re doing…at least if that’s alright with you?”
Lloyd nodded and got out of the car with his books when they arrived at the apartments. They walked up to Lloyd’s place and Lloyd thanked Sabina for everything before he went inside.
“You’re welcome, Lloyd.” She smiled up at him, “I hope those books are helpful for you.”
(Tiiime skip)
The next day, Lloyd was just sitting on the floor with his books. He’d been up all night reading them, and he was exhausted. It took a good deal of effort to keep his eyes open to read.
Sometime in the morning, Sabina knocked on the door for the third time, “Lloyd? I’m sorry it’s early, are you awake?”
“Nngh… Sabina?” Lloyd looked up at the door, his vision blurry. “Come in…”
She cracked open the door and peered in before stepping inside, “Is everything ok..? You don’t sound too good.”
"Well, I didn't exactly sleep." Lloyd yawned and flipped the page of his book.
“Oh goodness..” she stepped inside and closed the door behind her, “I thought you said you slept fine on the floor. Or did you just drive yourself into the ground studying?” She took a seat in front of him, letting her wings relax against the ground.
"The latter. I could sleep, but I didn't. I'll admit I've made better decisions…" Lloyd rubbed his eyes with one hand. "But I needed to memorize these texts."
“You have time to, you know.” She frowned, “You won’t become a police officer tomorrow, you’ll be trained and everything. And I can help with basic laws. How about you get some sleep now and I’ll..do something to help you. I don’t know what yet, but I can.”
"No… I don't need to sleep, I need to study…" Lloyd nodded off a bit, but quickly sat up and slapped himself hard across the face. "Snap out of it!"
Sabina jumped, and although he didn’t hit her, her expression turned stern “Ow! Hey, you really need to sleep. You won’t remember anything without a break.” She snapped.
Lloyd flinched at Sabina's tone, rubbing his cheek absently. "Why do I need to sleep? I can do that later, but right now I need to work…"
“You’ve worked enough, it’s time to sleep.” She insisted as her tone softened again, “What if I study for you and then tell you everything I learned when you wake up?”
"I… I-I don't know… I wouldn't want to make you do that…" His head dipped again and he raised his hand to slap himself again.
She struck out her hand to catch his wrist, “Don’t slap yourself.”
Lloyd looked up at Sabina drowsily. "But it's the only thing… k-keeping me… awake…" He muttered quietly before he collapsed from exhaustion. (He's aight don't worry lol)
(Ok good lol!)
After making sure he was okay and just asleep, Sabina relaxes with a deep relief. Finally…
She marked the page he was on in his books, closed them and set them aside. Once that was done she stood up and brushed herself off. Even if he didn’t need to eat, surely some food wouldn’t hurt, so she went off back to her own house to raid her cupboards for anything she could spare.
When Sabina returned, Lloyd was still on the floor. Turns out not sleeping for an entire night makes a person pretty tired. His normally neat hair was fluffy and disheveled, and he looked vaguely paler than usual.
Sabina closed the door behind herself with her foot when both hands were full of food. She set the food down on the counter to begin putting the few things away. Bread, various types of fruit, even a candy bar she wanted him to try when he woke up.
After about ten minutes or so, Lloyd woke up. His body hated him for it, but he didn’t want to be asleep. He groaned softly and pushed himself up onto his hands and knees.
