"I don't think I have these things. I don't remember going to high school, I don't know how old I am, and I think the last one wants me to drive one of these things…" He gestured to the car.
"I don't think I have these things. I don't remember going to high school, I don't know how old I am, and I think the last one wants me to drive one of these things…" He gestured to the car.
“Hm..” she frowned, “Well…we can work on getting you those. That’s a goal, right? Are you up for it?”
"I mean, I guess so. I don't see why not. How do I figure out how old I am, though?"
“You look about twenty one. You can say whatever year you were born, but you should probably get an ID to prove it to employers.”
"Okay. Where do I get an ID?" What year was I born? When's my birthday? I don't usually keep track…
“You can get it at a place called the BMV.” She replied, “I’ve done that before so I can help.”
Lloyd nodded. "And what about a… 'motor vehicle license'?"
“You can get that at the BMV too, but you’ll have to study before you can get the permit to start driving.”
"So I have to control one of these…?" I'll survive, but it won't be enjoyable.
“Unfortunately, yes.” She affirmed, “I’m sorry..I’ll help teach you.”
"Alright. I don't want to break it, though… I've heard they're quite expensive."
“As long as you don’t total it you don’t have to pay for the whole car to fix a dented bumper.” She shrugged.
Lloyd nodded. "I think those are the main requirements…" He flipped through the packet. "Will wearing a uniform be problematic for my wings?"
“Hm..” she pursed her lips, “They..yeah, it might be.”
"I'm sure we'll figure something out… how do other angels conceal their wings on earth?"
“Um, I…I don’t know, I haven’t met any other angels other than you—At least that I know of.”
"Well, if worst comes to worst, the world has to deal with an angel police officer. Anything else?"
“Not that I can think of right now.” She replied, “Only that you need to get some rest before you start studying again.”
Lloyd sighed quietly. "Fine… I suppose I'm not much of an asset when I'm half dead. Are we back yet?"
“We just got here.” She pulled into their apartment street, “Do you want me to get you an air mattress so you can sleep better? You can pay me back if you want.”
"No, I'll just sleep on the floor tonight. I'll see you tomorrow." Lloyd waved and went up to his apartment.
She stepped out of the car, pressing a button to lock it, “See you tomorrow!” She waved too.
(Skippy Skippy)
Lloyd woke up the next morning on the floor. He'd forced himself to actually sleep instead of just study, so he felt at least a little better.
Sabina’s ferret, Apollo, was curled up practically in front of his face with his tiny chin resting on his tail. He took in shallow, slow breaths, which made it seem as if he weren’t breathing at all upon first glance.
"Apollo…?" Lloyd sat up and looked at the ferret, confused. "Are you… okay?" He carefully picked up Apollo and tried to figure out whether he was alive or not.
