“Yes but I shouldn’t have reacted like that automatically. I’m really sorry. Can you forgive me?”
"I… I already have," Arien said softly. He pushed his face a bit more into Rafael's chest, just wanting to forget what happened.
He held Arien in his arms, rocking him softly. “Do you want me to leave you alone or is it okay if I stay?” He asked softly.
"P-please stay," Arien said, voice cracking and quiet. He didn't think he could handle being alone after what happened.
“Okay,” he replied softly, wrapping his arms securely around the other. He felt awful. He hadn’t wanted to hurt Arien. He hummed softly, trying to make Arien feel better.
Arien let out a shaky breath again, leaning into Rafael. He tucked his head under Rafael's chin, and slowly he stopped shaking.
Rafael still didn’t say anything, letting Arien take the time he needed to recover. He gently ran his fingers through Arien’s hair, still humming quietly, humming that tune he’d played the first time he’d met Arien.
Arien slolwy relaxed into Rafael's hold, the humming helping him. He rubbed at his eyes again, silent. Still, he slowly wrapped his arms around Rafael in turn, careful of his hand.
“Are you okay?” He asked quietly, for once almost glad he couldn’t see. He knew he wouldn’t have been able to meet Arien’s eyes. He felt so ashamed.
Arien nodded a bit into Rafael's chest. At this point, though, he knew he wasn't ready to talk about his feelings for Rafael again. He'd need some time to come back to that… So, for now, he stayed quiet.
“Okay, do you want me to turn on the tv and we can try and go to sleep?” He asked gently. He knew better than to push Arien into talking about things right now.
Arien nodded again. He didn't quite trust himself to speak at the moment, so he stayed against Rafael's chest, eyes closed.
“Okay..” He said softly, leaning over, having to almost flail around a bit before he found the remote on the table. He turned on the tv after a few seconds of fumbling with the remote. He smiled softly, proud of himself.
Arien had thought a moment if he should help Rafael find the remote, but when he heard the television turn on, he smiled weakly. He tilted his head up a moment to see the smile, his own growing just a bit before he closed his eyes, snuggling close.
“Is this okay?” He asked. “You don’t need me to change the volume or the channel or anything?” He wasn’t sure if he’d actually be able to do those things easily but he’d try.
Arien shook his head a bit. This was fine. He let out a soft breath, a weak smile on his face as he rested his head on Rafael's chest.
Rafael sighed softly, hugging Arien softly as he closed his eyes.
Arien closed his eyes as well. He slowly started to relaxed, and soon enough, for all intents and purposes, Arien was asleep.
Rafael would stay in a deep sleep for around six hours. His rest was interrupted with fragments of nightmares. They never woke him, but it was pretty close. He finally woke up, still having those first few seconds of disorientation when he couldn’t see.
Arien felt Rafael move around occasionally, but he didn't open his eyes until he assumed Rafael was completely awake.
"Hey," he said softly.
“H-hey.” He replied back quietly. While he’d been hoping that the whole situation between them had been just another nightmare, he knew it wasn’t.
Arien moved himself up a bit when he heard the stutter in Rafael's voice, wrapping his arms around the human a bit more securely.
"How are you doing?" he asked softly, concerned a bit.
“I’m okay I just…I still feel awful.” He said softly, resting his head on Arien’s chest.
Arien reached up his good hand to lightly rest on Rafael's head. Oh. Yeah. That.
"It's alright, Rafael," Arien said softly. "I know I didn't say what I wanted to in a clear way." Still, he didn't clarify what he did mean. Not yet.
“No it’s okay, I just took it the wrong way. Can we do our best to move past it, together?” He asked softly.
