(Lol yeah the problem is that I hardly listen to any other music other than Twenty One Pilots, but now I really want to good song hunting)
Damian grinned, “Good. I like surprises.” He almost smiled again but he forced his face to be less… happy. He knew this was bad, to be in Rowan car with him and go on a date with him, but… curse his excited, eager heart. Curse his want for someone to love him. Curse his want to have a distraction from his financial issues and his stresses from protecting the city.
(oof lol. Tbh, Pandora is amazing for that. Just turn on a station and listen. That's how I've discovered most of my favorite songs)
Rowan grinned. "Hmm. Maybe I should think of some other surprises then." He replied, chuckling. "So…how was your day? You know how mine went, so how was yours?" He asked. He kept his silver eyes focused on the road, one hand going down to rest against the stick shift of the car. To be honest, he wanted a distraction. Wanted to hear about someone else's day, and hear what they did. Even if it was boring.
(Ooo, yeah, although I hate the ads oof. I usually use Musi (it doesn’t have any ads which is pretty nice) but it doesn’t as have much variation from an artist as pandora once you tap on a song.)
Damian bit his lip. He hadn’t even considered the possibility of Rowan asking him how his day went. “I, uh, mostly slept. And of course my daily therapy session with Bailey, which went really well,” Damian joked softly, solemness flickering in his eyes, “Dogs are easy to confide in.”
(yeah. Ooh same lol. I usually watch a fifteen second ad to unlock premium, and then I don't have ads lol. Huh sounds cool)
Rowan nodded. "Mm. Sleep sounds amazing." He replied with a sigh. He chuckled quietly. "Hey, whatever floats your boat, I guess." He looked at Damian with a slight smile. "He seems like a good dog." He added, still driving carefully through the city.
(Oo, that’s smart, I didn’t know they had that. Feels like forever since I last used pandora lol)
“He is. He’s my little baby, gosh, he’s just so sweet. He never fails to notice me whenever I walk in the door, and it’s like he always knows when I’m upset,” Damian smiled fondly, “I mean, sometimes I really wish I had a roommate, but Bailey’s always been there for me at least.” Damian fidgeted his hands in his lap, but a smile still rested on his face.
(yeah it's great. You watch a fifteen see ad, and get forty-five minutes of free premium. It's amazing XD)
Rowan smiled, and nodded. "That does sound really great. How long have you had him?" He asked, parking the car, careful not to scratch or brush it against anything. He pulled the key from the ignition, and looked at Damian. "By the way, we're here."
(Oooo that’s awesome man, I’ll probably end up doing that soon now that you’ve told me about it lil)
Damian smiled even more, “Ever since he was a puppy, so pretty much the whole fourteen years. My neighbor’s dog had a small little and he was the rut, and sometimes they let me dog-sit them since they went on business trips a lot. I kinda got attached, and when it came time for the dogs to leave, I actually cried until my dad agreed to get me Bailey.” Damian chuckled a little, but then immediately perked up as he realized they were he. He sat up a bit more to try to see just where Rowan had brought him.
(alrighty! Have fun!)
Rowan smiled, and chuckled at the story. "Oh, cool. I never had time for a pet, though I've wanted one." They were at a nicer restaurant that was well-known for serving a bit of everything. "I wasn't sure what you like to eat, so. I like this place, and i figured you'll like something that they serve." He shrugged, and got out of the car, opening Damian's door for him.
“Awww, Rowan… you shouldn’t have taken me here, this is too nice of a place for me,” Damian told him with a blush. In comparison to restaurants, Damian only ranked himself to be at fast food rank. “You’re really too sweet,” Damian told him with a smile, and as he stood up straight he gave Rowan a peck on the cheek.
Rowan smiled, and put an arm around Damian, looking over at him with warm grey eyes. "It is not too nice for you." he replied, smiling again at the kiss. "I'm not sweet, either." Yes you are. Sickeningly so. Reaper drawled. Shut up. Rowan snapped back, smile faltering for a moment. He cleared his throat quietly, and led Damian inside.
Damian blushed heavily but smiled nonetheless. “If I’m nice enough for this restaurant then you are most definitely very sweet,” Damian told him with another smile, and happily walked in with Rowan. Well, he’s not so sweet when he’s kicking my ass but like, that hardly matters in a relationship, does it? Damian would’ve groaned at himself if he’d been alone. A relationship like that sounded horrible, yet why didn’t he feel horrible when he was with Rowan?
(okay but if that quote was taken out of context of this RP, then Rowan would sound like an extremely abusive asshole)
Rowan smiled, leading him into the restaurant. "Mm. Fine." he replied. He checked in with the person who would seat them. "Table for two, please." he said with a smile. The waitress nodded, and led them to a cute little table, where they sat down. She handed out menus.
(Literally though, every time I write Damian’s internal conflict of dealing with Rowan v. Reaper, it makes Rowan sounds so horrible and it’s absolutely hilarious because Rowan’s the complete opposite of abusive and stuff)
Damian smiled as he sat down, taking a menu with a bright smile. He absentmindedly put his free hand opened on the table, part of him hopelessly wishing Rowan would notice and intertwine their fingers. “What’re you getting?” Damian asked softly, scanning the menu for something cheap.
(lol yeah I've noticed and it cracks me up every time)
Rowan did indeed notice, and took Damian's hand. "A burger." he replied with a laugh. "And you can get whatever you want, I'm paying." he wasn't going to let Damian pay for this. One, the place wasn't the cheapest. Two…Rowan knew that he probably had more money than Damian did, and he didn't want the other man to have to worry about paying for the meal.
Damian smiled a little at their hands interwoven together. He blushed a little, “A-Are you sure you want to pay for it all? I-I can at least pay for myself,” Damian protested softly, though he honestly didn’t know how much money he had left. He knew the amount was dwindling, and a restaurant receipt would probably only cut that number in half.
"Damian, I'll pay for it." Rowan repeated. "Okay? So just…order whatever and enjoy yourself." He gave Damian a gentle, quick smile. He wanted the other male to have fun and enjoy himself, not worry about money the whole time. Because Rowan wanted to stay for dessert, and he couldn't do that if Damian was paying for himself. It would just make Rowan feel guilty.
Damian blushed, that warm fuzzy feeling in his chest doing leaps around his heart, “Alright. Just- just promise to tell me if what I want is too expensive and you’d rather me pick out something else?” Damian only wanted a bowl of alfredo chicken pasta, which wasn’t that expensive, but Damian still wanted to tell Rowan that.
Rowan nodded. "Alright. I will." He replied with a smile. He rubbed his thumb over Damian's knuckles gently. He knew what he was getting already. Same thing he always got. "What do you want to drink?" He asked Damian curiously, raising an eyebrow.
Damian chewed on the corner of his lip. “Hmmm, are you getting an alcoholic drink?” He asked, looking at the array of different wines and cocktails and beers from the menu. Damian didn’t drink much at all, but if Rowan was getting something to drink then so would Damian. He wouldn’t mind letting himself really enjoy the night with his date.
"Hmm. I might, yeah. Although I'm driving, so I can't get anything too strong." Rowan replied, looking at the drink menu. A nice wine might be good. Or a cocktail. He hummed softly, then looked at Damian again, still running his thumb over the other's knuckles. He gave a quick smile. "What about you?" He asked.
“I want to get the same thing as you then,” Damian said with a smile. He honestly didn’t care what it was, Damian didn’t drink enough to really have any preferences. But something light sounded nice, especially because Damian never really did good with alcohol. He trusted Rowan anyways, if worst came to worst he trusted Rowan enough to know he’d be taken care of. Even if he occasionally does fight me, I’m sure he’d keep me safe…
Rowan smiled. "How about a wine, then? Just don't drink too much, okay?" He set the menu down as the waitress came over, and he ordered his food, along with the wine. He was still holding Damian's hand across the table, thumb rubbing small circles on Damian's skin.
“Definitely, I like that plan,” Damian said with a smile, then order his food and wine with a grateful glance at Rowan. He was such a gentleman… who also happens to raise the dead and kill people, but that hardly matters, right? Am I going to fall in love with jack the ripper next? But Rowan’s hand on his was enough to distract him from the turmoil inside him, it even made Damian smile more. “This is really nice, Rowan. Thank you for taking me out.”
Rowan smiled. "You're welcome." He replied, standing and leaning over to plant a kiss on Damian's mouth. He lingered like that for a long moment, then pulled away again, sitting back down. "Thank you for…giving me a chance. Even after what i did today." His mouth twitched in a half smile.
Damian blushed yet smiled brightly. He almost wished Rowan would’ve lingered even longer, he wished they could be closer… Damian smiled back at him, “Of course I’d give you a chance. You’re honestly one of the sweetest guys I’ve met.” Only half the time. Damian pushed that thought away though, reaching up and scratching his head without thinking and accidentally picking off the scab. When he set the hand back on the table, if one looked close enough they could see a dash of red on his fingertips.
