(I like dark stuff man so if you’d rather just keep it a secret to reveal later in the story I am totally not opposed lol, but I’m also cool if you want to run it by me, either way is cool)

Damian was still smiling throughout his interview, but he was pretty sure he was doing a horrible interview. He was trying, sure, but he didn’t really have a good record at keeping jobs, which made him a pretty undesirable candidate. Damian could practically hear the woman on the other end of the phone getting less and less invested. She ended the phone call by saying he’d know if he got the job or not by next week, and Damian was grateful when the conversation finally ended. He laid back on the couch and scrolled through the texts he had with Rowan. At least those made him happy. I can’t wait, he texted back with a large grin, sighing happily.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(Alright. How about I give you the basic idea? So you understand where I'm going lol. So basically, it's almost a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde kind of thing. There's Rowan, who's, you know, this kind, sweet, thoughtful person, who would do anything to protect his cousin. Then there's the Reaper. The necromancer, the murderer. Their only similarity is that they would do anything to protect Lilly. So Reaper has been trying to take over, permanently, for a long time, so Rowan's mind is sort of slowly breaking as he resists the Reaper. Every heartbreak, every betrayal, every issue that happens, adds to that mental breakage, strengthens the Reaper. The only person who knows about the fact that it's more of two consciousnesses than one is Rowan, tho, so it's not something that's well known. So yeah. Idk exactly the specifics, but that's the idea so far lol. Idk if I explained it well tho)

Rowan smiled. Neither can I. Wear something nice? I'm not taking you to mcdonalds, I promise. He sent the message, then sent, it doesn't have to be a suit. just like…a buttonup and nice jeans is fine. He smiled happily. He already had a good restaurant in mind, one he had been to a few times before, that he absolutely loved. His parents had first taken him there when he was eight, and it held so many good memories for him. Plus, the food was the absolute best.

(Ooooo I LOVE it! Now I’m like reallllly excited)
Damian grinned at his phone when the next texts came in. Alright, sounds good. He smiled even brighter, letting out a happy sigh. “Bailey, I can’t believe I’m going on a date with him. You’ll help me pick out an outfit, won’t you bud?” Damian chuckled, mostly because he didn’t have many nice clothes so it wasn’t like he had many options.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(thanks!! Same lol)

Rowan smiled. He wanted to text again, but…would that be seen as too desperate? Needy? Or…? He sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "I'm gonna." he muttered. I want to talk more but idk what to talk about now? lol he sent, then mentally berated himself for sending such a stupid sounding message.

@Rvan group

Damian smiled when he saw that next text, warmth spreading throughout his heart. Gosh he still wants to talk to me… Damian was honestly having a hard time thinking that Rowan was also the Reaper. How could a man so villainous also be so sweet? id love to keep talking, he texted back with a smile, then bit his lip. His fingers moved against his will and he dared to press the ‘call’ button before he could get too nervous and back out.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Rowan blinked as he saw the incoming call, and answered it, smiling. "Hey." He greeted, sitting down in his chair again. "I wasn't sure calling would be okay, so I didn't, but hey, you did." He chuckled, not sure his rambling was making any sense.

@Rvan group

Damian grinned brightly as he heard Rowan’s voice. He let out a tiny laugh, “Y-Yeah, I don’t really call people very often,” He let out another small laugh, accidentally falling into his own ramble, “I honestly have no idea what I planned on saying I think I just wanted to hear your voice. I’m in an apartment by myself -and my beagle- but like I guess it gets lonely sometimes.” All the time.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(oh by the way, for Rowan's thoughts, if it's bolded, it's the Reaper, if it's italics, then it's Rowan)

Rowan chuckled. "Mm, I see. Oh, what's your dog's name? I've wanted a dog for a while, but…I would rather not accidentally kill it." He sighed softly. Like you kill everything else? No. That's you, and you know it. I haven't killed anyone. Oh? And what about your parents? …leave me alone. As you wish. Rowan mustered up a smile again, though it now felt forced.

@Rvan group

(Ah cool cool)
Damian smiled a little, tucking the phone in his ear to talk and fidget with his hands at the same time. “His name’s Bailey. He’ll be 15 years old this upcoming May,” Damian explained proudly. “I’ve had him since he was a puppy. We’ve been through a lot. I had to register him as a service therapy dog or whatever to get him to be able to come in the apartment with me.” Damian had put a lot of work to make sure he and Bailey weren’t separated, he loved his dog so much. Through thick and thin, Bailey was the only one that had always been there for him.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Rowan smiled. "Wow. Isn't that pretty old for a dog? And I can tell that you must care for him a lot, to go through all that work just to keep him with you." He chuckled softly. "Lilly has a cat. The poor thing is terrified of me." Probably because…well. No animal likes the scent of death, and that's probably what I smell like, if anything.

@Rvan group

“Yeah, but he’s hanging in there,” Damian replied, smiling down at Bailey. Any time he had some kind of medical problems, Damian usually spent more money on Bailey than he did himself. Thankfully, Bailey was a pretty well-fit dog and hadn’t had any major problems in a while despite his old age. “Bailey never liked my ex, he used to growl at her. Maybe he knew I was gay and that she was trouble,” Damian said with a soft chuckle, his smile fading ever so slightly.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Rowan nodded, and chuckled. "That's good. Ah, I see. Hey, at least she's gone now, though." He shrugged. "I mean…if she wasn't, you might not have agreed to go out with me, and then we wouldn't be having this conversation." And I would be drinking myself into oblivion. Again.

@Rvan group

Damian let out a little chuckle, “Yep, I’m very glad she’s gone. Especially now that I’ve met you.” Damian smiled brightly, a warm feeling slinging in his chest again. Damian’s ex… she hadn’t been good in the slightest, and Damian always tried to keep her at the very back of his mind.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Rowan smiled again, leaning back in his chair. "Me too." He agreed, a warm glow pulsing through him at the thought that maybe now he could be happy? With someone who genuinely cared about him, not the Reaper? He hoped that was so. "I…thank you. By the way. For…giving me a chance." His smile softened slightly into something a bit more shy, even though Damian couldn't see him.

@Rvan group

“Everyone deserves a chance, Rowan,” Damian said softly, smiling happily. Rowan of all people deserved a chance. “You’re literally one of the sweetest people I’ve met.” And how on earth are you also the Reaper? Damian desperately wished they were just two separate people. Oh how easier life could be, but alas Damian was stuck between his duties and his wants.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Rowan felt like he was going to cry. Not from sadness, but because…no one ever gave him a chance. And je knew maybe he deserved that, for everything he had done, but…he rubbed his face with a hand, trying to dispel the urge. "Oh. Thank you." He replied. He wished Damian were actually here, so he could hug him. Or kiss him. Or both. Preferably both. "I could kiss you again for that."

@Rvan group

Damian smiled, blushing as he adjusted to sit upside-down on the couch because that was just one of his little quirks. “I wouldn’t mind being kissed again right about now…” If only he could come over. It doesn’t seem like that bad of an idea… But Damian’s apartment was a cluttered mess, and it reeked of ‘broke as fuck’. “I can’t wait until our date,” Damian told him with a grin, adjusting the phone from his shoulder to his hand.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Rowan smiled. "I can't wait either." He replied happily, spinning around in the chair. "And I'll give you a kiss when I see you, then." He couldn't wipe the goofy smile off his face. He bit his lower lip a little, and stood up to pace around the office and get out the nervous energy that was suffusing him.

@Rvan group

Damian smiled in delight. How on earth can this man be the Reaper? Surely there must be some mistake… Damian wished so much that that was the case. He tried to pretend it was that was, if only for a few minutes. The fantasy of telling Rowan that he was the Frost, that he fought off the ‘bad guys’ and was all heroic and stuff. The fantasy he could put the Reaper in jail yet still be able to be with Rowan. He let out a soft sigh, but smiled nonetheless as he said, “I’ll be looking forward to it. I’ll talk to you later?”

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Alright. Talk to you later. And you can text or call me anytime you want." Rowan said, pausing to look out the window. He took a deep breath, and turned back to the room. He shook his head a little, still smiling.

@Rvan group

Damian smiled, finishing off with, “Good night, Rowan. Sleep well.” He made himself hang up the phone before he ended up talking all night long. Damian flipped himself upright on the couch before standing and heading to his small room so he could strip himself of the suit and get ready for bed.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"You too." Rowan replied with a soft smile. He tucked his phone in his pocket, and went back to the party, heading over to Lilly. He sat down beside his cousin with a sigh.
