"Mm…" he murmured, brushing a kiss across her forehead. "Twinkle, twinkle, little star…" And he stood there, rocking her back and forth while he sang her to sleep, a tender, unguarded expression softening his features.
(could Devon be watching him the whole time?)
(She definitely has been. Lol.)
Devon leaned against the doorframe as she watched the whole scene. A soft look was in her face, and she smiled at them. This was just too cute. How was he so good with her?
Layla yawned and stretched a bit. Her eyelids fell shut as she was laid back in her bed, and she was out soon after.
(XD)
Layla drifted off before long, and Sebastian carefully lowered her onto her bed, pulling the blanket up to her chin. Smiling softly to himself, he turned– only to see Devon, standing there. Cheeks flushing pink, he slipped past her, leaving the peaceful atmosphere of the room behind. "You were watching that whole thing, weren't you?"
“Well… Yes, I was,” Devon admitted softly as she followed him out, worry creasing her brow. “But it’s not like you did anything wrong. If anything, you did it all exactly right.”
He gave a flustered smile, biting the inside of his cheek. "I did? Really?"
Devon gave him a small, encouraging smile as she nodded affirmation. “Yeah. You did great… I— Thank you for doing that.”
"It was no problem," he assured, running a hand through his hair. "She's really sweet, it was actually enjoyable."
“Well, I’m glad you enjoyed it. She can be a handful sometimes, but she’s really just a sweetheart. Which I’m sure you’ve noticed,” Devon said with a light chuckle.
"You're telling me?" Sebastian joked, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Yeah, she's adorable. Like I said, takes after her mother."
Devon rolled her eyes as she blushed. “I’m not adorable,” she mumbled under her breath, glancing away from him.
He raised a doubtful eyebrow. "I beg your pardon?" Glancing at the clock, he grimaced. "Ah, I should probably be going. See you soon?"
“Oh? Yeah. Yeah, of course,” Devon said, fighting her blush away as she looked back at him with a small smile. “You’ll come into the coffee shop soon, I hope?”
"Oh, definitely," he promised sweetly, taking a tiny step forward. "See you." Smiling, he gave her a hesitant side hug before steeping away. "That was okay?"
Devon grinned and nodded at him. “Yes, it was fine. Thank you…” When was the last time someone did that to me… and I enjoyed it? “I guess I’ll see you soon, then.”
"Perfect. Bye, see you tomorrow." He raised a hand in farewell and was gone, his face practically glowing.
Devon shut the door behind him, still smiling as she made her way to the couch. What was he doing to her? She never acted this way about anyone these days… And yet, she couldn’t help herself when it came to Sebastian…
(Lol, Callie.
Sure, a skip sounds good. Maybe when he visits her at work?)
(Lol
Sure, want me to start?)
(If you want. Otherwise, I can.)
I can)
Sebastian rubbed at a new bruise on his cheekbone, wincing slightly as he pushed open the door of the coffee shop. His face lit up as soon as he caught sight of Devon. Making his way over to the counter, he reached over to tap on the cash register and get her attention.
Devon was cleaning some supplies out when Sebastian arrived, and she spun around at the sound of someone tapping something. Upon seeing who it was, she grinned and walked over, still carrying the dish and rag.
“Sebastian! Wow, you just missed the rush. Perfect timing,” she told him happily.
He grinned, propping his elbows up on the counter. “Hey, you. How’s everything going?” His heart pattered happily at the sight of her, fireworks going off in his chest.
Devon blushed a bit and ducked her head to hide it. In the process, her hair fell in front of her face, so she tried to blow it back.
"It's fine. The rush was ridiculous, though. I can't believe we get so many people here," she mused as she finished up with the dish. "What about you?"
