"Yeah, fair point, but the adorableness makes up for it." He straightened, taking hold of her hand once more.
"Yeah, fair point, but the adorableness makes up for it." He straightened, taking hold of her hand once more.
"You don't live with her," Devon joked, grinning at him playfully. She tentatively intertwined their fingers, enjoying the feel of her hand in his. "But she is pretty cute. I have no idea how I managed to get such an adorable daughter…" out of the mess she was conceived from.
"Well, she has an adorable mother," he returned with a smile that bordered on dorky, before he paused. "Was that- was that okay for me to say?"
Devon blushed deeply, blinking a few times. “Um— Y-yeah. Yeah, that was fine,” she said, stumbling over her words a bit.
Sebastian’s smile returned again, bright as ever. “Alright, I’m glad.”
Devon smiled at him, somewhat flustered. She would probably never get used to the compliments, but that was okay.
“Layla’s right. The sunset is pretty,” she mused, looking at it.
It’s not the only one.. Sebastian kept the thought to himself, looking out over the water. “Yeah.. I remember, there was an elderly woman who used to live next door when I was a kid, she would say that the sunset was the final work of art of an artist who had died that day. I always found that beautiful.”
Devon hummed, nodding slowly. “That is beautiful… I think my mom used to say something like that.”
Sebastian sighed softly. “I remember, I was around fifteen, and I decided that I wanted to pull an all-nighter and film a time lapse of the sky. I got the see the sunset and the sunrise from my window.. I probably still have that video somewhere.”
“That sounds like it would be an amazing video. Would you show it to me if you find it?” Devon asked, looking over at him with a small smile.
“Definitely,” he promised, bending down and holding his arms out to Layla. “Can I hold her?”
Layla toddled over and into his open arms, happily bubbling random words.
"Of course," Devon chuckled. "You are her favorite, after all."
Sebastian grinned, scooping the little girl up into his embrace. "I am so glad that I am."
Me, too…
Devon smile at them, watching as her daughter rubbed her hands in Sebastian’s hair. The little girl really was adorable. Devon felt incredibly lucky to have her.
"Awe…" he cooed, swinging her around.
Layla squealed happily as she was spun. She laughed and clapped her hands when they stopped spinning. "More! More!" she demanded with a grin.
"So demanding," he teased the little girl, lifting her over his head and plopping her down onto his shoulders.
"Ride! Yay!" Layla bubbled, laughing more as she patted his hair again. "Ride ride ride!"
(I can’t wait until Layla calls him dad xD)
(Um, well… Seeing as she's never really had a dad, she would have no need for that word, so she probably wouldn't even know it. Sorry…)
(oof)
Sebastian bounced up and down as they walked, grinning from ear to ear. It was moments like these, with the two girls, that he allowed himself to feel truly happy, to step out of the hard shell that they barely every saw.
(Admittedly, it's would be really cute! Just not exactly possible… For now…)
Devon laughed softly to herself as she watched Sebastian play with her daughter. He was so good with her. It was like the playfulness just came naturally.
And it was totally cute…
(yeah)
"Thank you," he told Devon, half-laughing, "For letting me hold your amazing daughter. And thank you–" He craned his head to look up at Layla. "For letting me go out with your amazing mum."
"Any time. You can hold Layla all you want. She definitely enjoys playing with you," Devon said, laughter dancing in her eyes as she watched her daughter squeal and pat Sebastian's cheeks.
Sebastian laughed quietly, gripping Layla's tiny hands. His eyes shone, mouth spread out into a huge grin.
