Wolf nodded his head and thanked the man as he slipped into the kitchen. He hummed to himself as he searched the place for the ingredients that he would need.
Bridge watched him, running a hand through his tangled white hair and looking up at him with wide, curious eyes. He'd never seen anyone bake before. He'd only ever had cupcakes a couple times in his life, either.
Once he had gathered the ingredients, Wolf went to work with putting it all together and actually baking the cupcakes. He made his homemade frosting first, then set the blue frosting off to the side to make the batter for the cupcakes.
Bridge glanced at it, still too scared to speak to Wolf. Sure, he may have helped him up, apologized, invited Bridge with him, and was now making cupcakes for the both of them - which was far more than almost anyone had ever done for him - he was still wary.
"So how're you holding up, Bridge?" Wolf asked without looking at him, focusing on the cupcakes. "With this whole apocalypse thing going on, I mean."
"Oh." He looked up, surprised at Wolf's voice after the silence. "I've - I've been fine. My parents left," He said quietly, not sure if he was saying too much or annoying Wolf. He wouldn't be surprised.
Wolf looked over in Bridge's direction, pausing in his baking. He chewed his lip for a bit, then said, "My family sorta split apart, so now we're all fending for ourselves. My sister and I sometimes happen to bump into each other, but other than that, I'm mostly alone."
That was pretty, when he bit his lip, Bridge thought, before blinking in surprise at himself. "Sorry," He mumbled.
He shrugged and went back to the cupcakes. "'s alright. We've all been off on our own pretty much anyways. the only really hard part is staying away from my sister. We're twins, so, y'know. Kinda do everything together."
"That's cool! I'm an only child," Bridge said, before biting his tongue. Why did he tell Wolf that? He was pretty, but also kind of scary. Everyone was scary.
He huffed a small laugh, bending down to put the cupcakes in the oven. He had only made a single batch, as it was only the two of them. "Lucky. I've got two older brothers as well as my sister. I'm the youngest."
"Wow." Bridge's eyes widened. He'd only ever lived with his father, and even he didn't interact with Bridge much. "That's a lot."
"Eh, not really. I've heard of people having a bunch of other siblings." He set the time, then leaned against the counter facing Bridge, loosely crossing his arms over his chest.
"I think it's a lot," He commented, before biting his tongue again. Wolf hadn't asked, why had he said so? "Sorry."
He tilted his head, brows twitching together in slight confusion. "Why're you sorry? You didn't do anything."
"I talk too much," He mumbled, bringing his knees up to his chest on the stool. "I shouldn't."
"You don't talk too much. I actually prefer talking to you than sitting in silence." Wolf shrugged, then scrunched up his nose and rubbed at his eyes. "Damn contacts…" he mumbled.
"You wear contacts?" Bridge looked up, still not used to talking to someone this much. "Are they colored, or just for vision?"
"Colored," he admitted, ducking his head some. Hypocritical much? Telling him he's fine the way he is while you hide your own insecurities.
"What color are your eyes naturally?" Bridge asked, tilting his head curiously. "They can't be any worse than mine."
He sighed and muttered that he'll be right back, then ducked into a bathroom. A few minutes later, he came out without his contacts in. His left eye (Bridge's right) was an ocean blue while his right eye (Bridge's left) was a forest green.
"Ooh!" Bridge perked and let his legs hang off of the stool again. "They're reeeeally pretty!"
His eyes widened some, then the faintest blooming of pink could be seen on his ears. He ducked his head, letting his obsidian black hair fall into his face as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh…" He cleared his throat. "Thanks…"
Oh no. "Sorry…did I say something wrong?" Bridge asked nervously, leaning forward on his stool a bit.
He quickly shook his head. "No no no. I'm just… I've basically been raised thinking that I should hide my eyes because no one likes them. I don't…I'm not used to people saying they like them," he quickly explained, looking back up at Bridge.
