Miles growled at her. "Don't touch my damn house key, woman." He stumbled over the threshold, tripping into the room. Who's idea was that anyway? He found his way into the bedroom and piled all his stuff on the nightstand, taking his cloak off and dropping it before slowly worming his way into his bed.
She just nodded silently, "I'll be right back with the supplies..can I borrow a few coins to pay for it? I'll be able to pay for most of it, but I want to make sure I have enough. I'll give back any extra," She looked around the house and glanced at him, already having an idea of what his answer was going to be.
"Don't take my money," He grumbled drunkly. I don't care… She ain't having my money…. My hard-earned money…. Miles burrowed further under his blankets, rubbing his legs together minimally to keep warm.
"Ok." Emmeline replied softly, not going to argue with him. She nodded slightly before walking to the door "I'll be right back," She said again, stepping outside and closing the door behind herself before starting to walk to town. The walk went fairly quickly and soon she was at the place they were at before. "Town..sweet, and horrible town.." She muttered, pulling out her few coins and buying the nails and a few braces like Miles said. She looked at her last coin and sighed, buying a small loaf of bread for them to share.
Miles woke up a little later to see she was out of the house. "Damn…. This hangover was worse than I thought…." He winced at his awful headache, and was annoyed when his jaws and teeth began to ache, too. The pain just never ends, does it?…. He rolled over, trying to fall asleep again. Hopefully she comes back quick… But it's not like I'm gonna build that shed today…. Maybe tomorrow when I don't have this – this thing going on…
Emmeline made her way back to his house, knocking softly on the door before opening it and looking around, "Hey Miles, do you have anywhere specific that you want me to put the nails and braces?"
He moaned when she called his name. "Somewhere…." Miles rolled around in bed, trying to get back to sleep. At least somewhere where I can see 'em…. His head throbbed and he winced, nearly whining at the pain at this point. It's so bad…. make it stop….
"Alright, they're in the kitchen," she set the supplies in the kitchen like she said before walking to her bed and sitting down on it. The loaf of bread was In her picket and she pulled it out, setting it on Miles' bedside table and watching him. "Are you ok?" She asked, concerned for him.
"Am I okay….." His voice growled. "Am I okay?" Miles tured and glared at her with evil eyes. "I'm suffering a massive hedache, several tooth aches, a throbbing heart and have bones and muscles in pain and you ask if I'm okay!!?" He barked, but winced and whined at the stinging and ringing in his ears. This damn hangover is making me saltier than ever!!!
Emmeilne winced slightly at his yelling, nodding slightly "Sorry.." She looked around the room and suddenly remembered that there was a plant in the woods that her aunt used to use as a painkiller. "I'll be right back," she said, smiling slightly before walking outside and heading into the woods.
Miles turned back, mumbling something under his breath. She thinks she can just walk off…. He curled up and wrapped the blanket around his head like a hood and fell asleep again to ease the pain going rampant around in his head.
(The tree she found was a white willow and the bark can actually be used as a painkiller, also I know that the forest that that were in probably didn't have any of those trees but I don't care)
Emmeline wandered for a while and soon found the tree that she was looking for. She smiled and jogged up to it, pulling strips of its bark off and holding them carefully in her hand as she ran back to the house. Once she got inside she got to work, laying the bark out and breaking it into small pieces as she got a small cup of water. She dropped the pieces into the water and let it sit for a while, humming softly.
(Lol it doesn't matter really.)
Miles was still asleep…. And that humming kept him quite at peace. His ears were much calmer, and stopped ringing a while ago after Emmiline came back. He shifted a little, but was otherwise undisturbed.
She carefully brought the cup back to his room and set it on his nightstand next to the laid of bread before laying down on her bed, still humming softly. She looked at the roof and closed her eyes, falling asleep quickly.
Several hours passed since Miles first fell asleep, and he pried his eyes open. He groaned as he stretched his legs out in bed, rolling onto his other side. The majority of the pain and aches were gone, but there were still light, persistent pangs now and then. Finally…. I got some good rest….. Miles rubbed at his dried throat, his hand cold against his neck.
Emmeline was still asleep. She mumbled something and rolled onto her side, facing away from Miles as she continued to sleep. The bread and cup were still on the nightstand next to his bed, waiting for him to take.
Miles sat up, seeing a loaf of bread and a cup of something on his table. Did she know I'd be thirsty when I woke up again?… He picked up the cup, but it emitted some kind of unfamiliar aroma that his nose did not appreciate at all. He wrinkled his face sourly. I know for a fact that this isn't water! He set it back down, unaware that it was to help ease his earlier pain.
Emmeline rolled over again and groaned, rubbing her eyes as she started to wake up. "How are you feeling?" She asked, propping herself up on her elbows and watching him sleepily.
"Better," He blew out a low sigh. "But I obviously was dumb enough to try and go out and actually do things under a werewolf hangover." Miles rubbed his head, soon scratching his neck. I'm just universally exhausted…. I'm thinking of just soaking in the stream later when it's warmer….
"Did you drink any of that?" She pointed to the drink "It's to help with the pain." She slowly sat up and sighed, glancing up at the roof. "Also..sorry about earlier, I ended up having enough money to buy the supplies and I used the last of my money to buy the bread since I figured you would be hungry when you woke up."
He rolled his eyes, just a tad bit sorry for her. Oh well. It is what it is. Miles leaned over the cup and glared at what was inside. "I might eat a little later. But I still have to wake up first."
She nodded "Ok, just remember to drink that, it will help," Emmeline tapped her fingers against her leg as she continued to look at the ceiling, starting to hum softly again.
Miles took the cup and stood, heading into the kitchen. There's no way I'm drinking this…. He reached up and grabbed an empty red bottle, delicately pouring the stuff inside before sticking the cork in the lip. There. I'll save it for when I really need it… He stuck the cup in the water bucket and came back into the bedroom. Miles gave her a long look. "What, did you fall asleep too?"
"Yeah, what else was I supposed to do?" She barely acknowledged that he was there, still looking at the roof. "If you had a garden or something like that, then I could have done something."
Miles turned his mouth down in some sort of disapproving look. "There's plenty of things to do if you had the skill to do it." He sat down on his bed. "And I would make a garden and make a shed and do all this stuff if I hadn't been a werewolf the night before." He grunted. "Nonetheless… There has to be something I can do today."
