"Town it is," Emmeline replied, a small smile on her face, "I don't think I would even know how to start to build a shed."
"Town it is," Emmeline replied, a small smile on her face, "I don't think I would even know how to start to build a shed."
"Maybe you can get some nails or something for me up town. Then I can build it maybe later tonight when it's cooler out." He threw his cloak on his shoulders and put his coin sack on his hip. "Oh… Where did you put my dagger? I would like to have that back." And don't play any games with me…
She grabbed his dagger from where she had put it last night, "Here it is," She held it out to him and grabbed the few coins from her pile of stuff before standing up and looking around the cabin for anything else that she might need.
Miles grabbed the dagger from her hand, an odd tingling feeling causing him to flinch. He growled a little and turned back away to head out. Dammit…. He wiped at his face. Everything has to be awkward now that she's practically living off me…
Emmeline walked outside and waited for Miles. She flipped a coin in her hand and thought about what she could buy; A dagger or weapon, some food, maybe something that Miles could use, and the nails for his shed.
(Whoa did she like teleport or something?)
Miles got out and locked the door with the key that hung around his neck. "Alright… Off to town we go…" He went and found the trail, and followed it. He kept mainly to himself, keeping the air awkwardly silent.
(What'd ya mean?)
She followed behind him and looked around, humming softly to herself as they walked.
(Well she said she'd look around the house and Miles was going outside, and then she was just… There. Outside.)
A cold wind blew through the trees, and Miles shivered, pulling his cloak around him. It's getting colder already…
They were walking along when he spotted two people walking towards them. They were dressed in some kind of lightweight armor, yet he didn't want to take chances. "Stay close; don't say anything…."
( 'Emmeline walked outside and waited for Miles.')
"I know," She glanced at the people before walking closer to Miles, visibly nervous. "What if they're looking for us since we robbed that house last night… they wouldn't recognise you since you were a wolf but I'm still me.." She whispered, not knowing if he could her her or not.
"What did I just say??" He hissed lowly.
They walked by, but the two of them quickly pivoted and tackled Miles and Emmiline off into the bushes on the side of the pathway.
"What the–!?" Miles yelped.
Emmeline squeaked and the air was knocked out of her as she got tackled. She gasped for a breath before smacking the person, trying to get them to go away.
Miles withdrew his dagger as the guy tried to take it. "Fool!!!" Miles barked, kicking the guy off him.
The bandit staggered, and he was pushed over.
Miles hopped to his feet, but stumbled a bit before stabbing the guy that was on Emmiline right in the back. He barked, falling over in pain. "Use your dagger!" Miles yelled at her, helping her to her feet. She needs to know how, or she can get herself killed!!!
"I don't have one! I used yours!" She stood up and stepped away from the bandits. "I was going to buy one when we got into town," She continued, her heart racing as she kicked the guy that Miles stabbed.
"I thought you grabbed a dagger from the house last night!" He barked.
The other bandit had gotten up, rushing him with a full fledged sword.
Oh lord… He backed away.
"Give me all you've got!" He yelled, pointing the tip at his neck. "You too, girl!"
She glanced at Miles before glaring at the bandit "You gave me your dagger to use because I didn't have one," Emmeline took a step forward and made her hands into fists, ready to fight.
"But then I got a dagger at the house for you!"
"Shut up!!" Barked the bandit, while the other one died (because he stabbed him, right?). "Just gimme all your stuff and I'll spare both of you!"
Although it may not have seemed like it, Miles' chest felt like it was going to burst from his pounding heart. Damn… I only have one shot at this…. He slid forward, tripping the bandit before swinging his dagger over his neck, killing him in an instant.
Miles sheathed his bloody dagger before stumbling back. I can't believe I was able to pull that off….
"You got me a dagger?" She asked, pressing her eyes shut and turning away from the bodies. She stepped back and looked around, calming down slowly.
"Yes…. Yes I did….." Miles rubbed his head, crawling to the bodies to loot them. But his head suddenly ached, and he winced. It was all just too much at once. "I got you a dagger…. Didn't you see it?…." I must've kept it in my pocket….
Emmeline shook her head "I didn't see any daggers besides yours," She glanced at Miles and crouched down by one of the bodies, grimacing as she started going through his pockets. There was quite a lot of blood and she tried her best to keep her hands clean, only getting little bit on her hands.
Miles sat back, breathing hard. Why did his head hurt so much? Was it because he still had a werewolf hangover? I knew this was a bad idea…. I got lucky this time… He stood up, wobbling a little as he pocketed the gold in his coin pouch. He wiped at his face, feeling his hot hand against his cold cheek.
"I think I'm gonna have to…. S-stay back at th-the house," He panted, his chest throbbing in weakness.
"Are you alright?" She asked, standing up slowly. Her eyes were full of concern and she walked over to him, standing in front of him awkwardly since she didn't know what to do. "I can get whatever you need from town once I make sure that you get back to the house safely."
His head pounded, and he teetered a little bit. "That… That would b-be appreciated…" Miles stumbled a bit, tripping over the other bandit. "But.. M-make sure you g-get… Nails and b-braces too…. And d-don't get mugghed…" His ears began to ring, and he winced.
Emmeline put a hand on his arm quickly, trying her best to steady him. "Braces, nails, don't get mugged, got it. Now let's get you back to the house," She moved to the side of him and held onto his arm, "Here, you can lean on me if you need to," She patted her shoulders and looked up at him.
Miles started tilting the other direction, but her hand around his arm gave him some stability. "Sure thing…." He mumbled. I knew coming out of the house was a terrible, terrible mistake….
They got back to his house with all the loot off the bandits, and Miles leaned against the door as he leaned down, fumbling to get the key around his neck into the hole. "Dammit," He muttered, his head aching with a pounding pain.
"Let me do it," she said softly, carefully taking the key off of his neck and unlocking the door before putting it back over his head and opening the door. She made sure that he wasn't leaning on the door before opening it.
