Lily giggled as Emile patted her head, humming some with a smile.
"Mhm!"
Lily giggled as Emile patted her head, humming some with a smile.
"Mhm!"
Emile let out a content sigh, mentally trying to determine what time it was. He didn’t have a watch or anything like that to check, and he didn’t want to accidentally get caught off guard by Astral.
It was hard- even with the windows, it was bright all the time. They were on the sun, after all. There weren't any clocks in the library, either. Lily wasn't concerned, her legs swinging back and forth.
After about a minute, Emile figured it was about midday, at least it felt that way. He hated that he wouldn’t know for sure unless Astral showed up suddenly.
Lily looked up at Emile again, head tilted.
"Whacha thinking bout?" She asked.
Emile smiled down at her. “Just wondering what time it is, that’s all.” He explained. There was no reason to lie about it, maybe she could help.
"Oh! That's easy! Here, go over to the window, I'll show you!" Lily offered an innocent smile, legs still swinging.
“Isn’t it just sunny outside all day?” He asked, a bit confused. If she really had a way to tell though, it would be incredibly helpful.
"Mhm, but there's another way to tell the time!" Lily was still smiling, pushing Emile's hand so that she could step up onto it.
Emile turned his hand so she could step on before getting up and going over to the window. “Okay..can you tell me how it works?” He asked.
"Mhm! Here, we've gotta close the curtains and open them again first." Right now, all that was outside was light- a white wall that was dull enough that it didn't hurt to look directly at it.
“Okay then.” Emile said, just going to trust that the girl actually knew what she was doing. He’d found that when kids said they knew something, they usually did. Emile grabbed the curtains, pulling them closed before opening them again.
What was outside the window now wasn't a… pretty, sight. It was the actual sun, now, and what made it up- the souls, burning and writhing in pain as far as the eye could see. Lily did her best to not look, instead pointing up above this landscape.
"See! There are three souls up there, so it's three o'clock!"
Thankfully Emile was relatively used to gory sights but this…this was a bit much even for him. But he couldn’t let it bother him. He nodded. “I see, thank you, that’ll be very helpful.”
Lily wasn't so used to gory sights like this, careful to turn without looking out too much to look up at Emile instead.
"You're welcome!"
Emile closed the curtains over so the poor girl wouldn’t have to see it anymore. “Well then seems like we’ll hopefully still have plenty of time to ourselves today!”
"Mhm!" Lily relaxed some as the curtain was closed, sitting down in Emile's hand. She let her legs dangle over the side of his palm, kicking them back and forth as she looked up at him.
“Is there anything else you want to go do? Maybe go get a bit of lunch?” He asked, smiling down at her.
"Ah, lunch sounds really good!" Lily spoke just as her stomach rumbled, blushing some with a giggle.
“Okay then that’s what we’ll do! I’m gonna clean up some of our stuff just a bit and then we can go, does that sound good to you?” He offered.
"Okay! That sounds good to me!" Lily smiled, looking down at her hands as she sat at the edge of Emile's hand, bracing herself for the moving Emile would be doing.
Emile moved the two of them back over to the table, careful to keep the hand she was in as level as possible. He set her down on the table for a moment so he could use both of his hands to start cleaning the supplies up. After a minute he came to their drawings. “Is it okay if I fold this up a bit so I can bring it with us?”
Lily sat where she was placed on the table, humming some to herself. She ran her fingers through her hair in an attempt to detangle it, wincing some. Her dress was still stiff from drying, but not near as much as the day before. She looked up, nodding.
"It's okay with me!"
“Okay, I just wanted to check with you first!” Emile said before gently folding the drawing into enough sections until it fit in his pocket.
Lily nodded, grinning as she settled down some while Emile folded the drawing.
"Thank you for that!"
