Emile went back to being quiet, having nothing else to really say at the moment. Which is apparently his go to now for when he was speaking with Astral, only talking when necessary.
((Someone call the Souls Protective Services lmao))
Astral stayed still as an awkward silence fell over the three.
"Well, I'm going to have fun watching you two," Derlik said, chuckling dryly. "I just wish it hadn't come about because Simon got involved in things."
(Do you mean: Serna and Mother)
“Yes…..poor kid already had enough to deal with before this mess.” Emile replied, sending a quick glare in Astral’s direction before returning his gaze to his hands.
(( XD I mean I guess so))
Derlik nodded some.
"He really did…" Derlik hadn't stepped in to help- it'd be too obvious. He knew they had to let certain things just… happen. Astral made a face at Emile, looking away himself with arms folded.
Alec and Emile had used to help Simon out a lot more but due to certain….circumstances…they were no longer allowed to do that. Unfortunately right after that, when Simon was hitting his teens, was when everything had really started going to hell.
Well, not literal hell- that would probably have been safer for him with Alec and Emile. Derlik had decided to not do anything when he saw how the others were forced to not. He didn't want to overstep any boundaries.
Astral was still plotting how exactly he was going to deal with the trinket in the middle of the table.
(Okay I'm all caught up and,,, Astral What The Fuck times like 40)
That definitely would have been better for him considering everything that had happened since then. But at the time, when their only two options were condemning Simon to hell or promising to leave him alone, the latter seemed better for Simon’s future. If Heaven could’ve just kept their nose out of it, everything would’ve been fine.
As usual, everything is fine until God gets involved. Now they couldn't say a word about what happened to Simon. Astral hummed slightly, glancing at the trinket on the table.
It had not been good at all. Simon hadn’t wanted them to leave, but they thought they were doing what was best for him. To try and ease the pain, they’d erased almost all of Simon’s memories of them.
Now it was too late. If they hadn't been regretting their decision before, Alec and Emile must surely be now that Simon could never be safe again. It was just too bad, really.
Astral didn't care, of course. He had Simon now, and he'd never give him up even if he could.
They definitely were. And that’s why Emile was here now, trying to make up for all the damage that had been done because of that decision.
There wasn't much that could be done, though. Eventually, Derlik stood, looking between the two.
"I've got work to do," he said, letting out a sigh.
Emile nodded, looking up at the god, for once almost disappointed to see Derlik leave. “Alright then….goodbye.”
Derlik nodded in his own silent goodbye, then left with a twist of the air around him. Astral looked to Emile a moment, letting out a sigh.
It did make him a bit nervous to be stuck with Astral again but he didn’t let it show. “Well that visit was…eventful.”
"Yeah, it was," Astral said, his hand coming up to carefully touch the skin around his eye. "Hopefully we don't have a repeat of it any time soon."
“Yeah hopefully.” Emile agreed, though he honestly wouldn’t mind seeing someone kick Astral’s ass again.
"Mm." Astral moved to stand, rolling his shoulder to relieve some tension in it.
"I've got to get to work too."
“Well I’ll see you later then.” Emile said, staying sitting there.
Astral just grunted some, heading into his workroom. He didn't even bother closing the door, muffled screams coming from it soon enough.
Emile double checked that the trinket from earlier was still on the table and that Astral hadn’t taken her.
The trinket was. Well, a trinket was. It looked exactly the same, and it would take a lot of detail to attention to realize this trinket wasn't her.
Emile couldn’t visually tell the difference, but picked it up just to be sure that it was the right one. “Is that still you?” He asked softly.
