August was alarmed and afraid. He instinctively tried to protect Jess. "Don't touch her!", he yelled as he barreled into one of the people.
August was alarmed and afraid. He instinctively tried to protect Jess. "Don't touch her!", he yelled as he barreled into one of the people.
The strong figure held him back. Meanwhile, Kate went limp in her attacker's arms. He carried her to a van.
"Kate!", he screamed. He heard the blood rushing in his ears. Use what you learned in martial arts. He put his foot behind the strong figure and pushed them to the ground. August started sprinting to the van.
Kate disappeared from his sight inside the van. It began to drive away quickly. The kidnapper who'd been shoved to the ground by August got up and jumped in before it turned a sharp corner. Kate's phone was laying on the pavement. It had slipped out of her pocket during the struggle.
(Could you be the operator?)
August scooped up her phone and took off running after the van. "Kate!", he yelled again before it went out of sight. He dialed 911.
(Yeah, okay!)
"Nine-one-one, what's your emergency?" a kind voice asked.
"I'm at Stillwater apartments! Some people kidnapped my girlfriend! They threw her into a silver van!", August yelled into the phone, out of breath.
The woman typed quickly. "Slow down, hun. Which way did the van go?"
"On Eastwood Drive!" August tapped frantically with his foot.
"Alright, I'll alert the units in that area. What's your name?"
"August Ren.", he sighed. "Please find her."
"We'll try hun, I promise. There are already cars after a suspected silver van in that area."
(BTW, I'm going to be one of Kate's close friends later in the meantime, if that makes sense.)
(That makes sense.)
"Thank you.", he said sadly as he hung up. What if I never see her again?
(Do you want to time skip to maybe the next day at school?)
(Yeah)
Gina hesitantly approached August at his locker. "Hey."
"Hey.", he said, unenthusiastically, which was unlike him.
"Are… Are you doing okay?" If he looked at her, it was obvious that she had been crying.
"No! No I'm not!", he snapped. "Kate's gone!"
She took a couple steps back. "I… I know…"
August slammed his locker door shut and people turned to glance, but he couldn't care less about them. "Then why'd you ask if I'm okay?!" His fiery glare couldn't hide the tears in his eyes.
Gina flinched timidly. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "But you're not the only one who's upset." As if on cue, a small tear trickled down her cheek.
August didn't want to see her cry. He ran away from Gina and to his next class.
Gina tried to meet up with August after class. "August, please!"
"I'm sorry.", he whispered. His head was down to avoid her gaze.
