"Cool." Damien looked over, reaching out to put a hand on Rowan's shoulder. "You'll be okay, man. Trust me."
"Cool." Damien looked over, reaching out to put a hand on Rowan's shoulder. "You'll be okay, man. Trust me."
Rowan looked over at Damien when he felt the other's hand on his shoulder. He nodded a bit. "I… y-yeah… thanks, Damien…"
"It's no big deal. You're gonna get through this. Guarantee it." Damien moved his hand to ruffle Rowan's hair, then back to the steering wheel.
Rowan flushed a bit and nodded again. "I'm… I'm sure I will. I'm just not quite sure like… how to not freak out when I'm alone…"
"That's what therapy's for, man. I guess it's just somethin' you gotta learn, y'know?" Damien shrugged, entering their neighborhood. "We're almost there, though. Uh- we should probably get some of your stuff and.. like.. feed Milo? Y'know?"
"Have you not been feeding him??" Rowan went pale and looked back out the window, seeming even more anxious now.
"No, man, I have! I haven't fed him dinner or whatever, since I didn't have time. I need to let him out." Damien responded quickly, pulling into Rowan's driveway.
Rowan breathed a quiet sigh of relief. "Fuck, man… don't scare me like that. I would literally die for Milo." He pushed open the car door when they stopped and got out without thinking. Considering he had a broken leg and all, he immediately collapsed.
"I know, man. I didn't think you'd take it like that, sorry-" Damien seemingly forgot about the broken leg too, as he didn't tell Rowan to wait before he got out. "Oh, fuck-" Damien hopped out of the car, hustling over to help Rowan up. "Jesus, man, you okay?"
Rowan seemed dazed, but overall alright. "Mmmm… m'okay…." He mumbled, groaning softly as he pulled himself up with Damien's help. "Stupid fuckin' leg…"
"I'd pick you up, but.. not that strong." Damien laughed, grabbing Rowan's crutches from the car and handing them over. "You sure you're alright?"
"Yeah, m'fine…" Rowan accepted his crutches and hoisted himself up onto them. "Gotta go see Mi… he's a good boy."
"I think he misses you." Damien walked inside with Rowan, whistling to alert Milo to their presence. "Hey buddy! We're back!"
Milo barrelled into the hall, his nails clattering on the hardwood floor. Thankfully, he didn't tackle Rowan to the ground, instead just spinning excitedly in front of Rowan. Rowan grinned and ruffled his fur. "Hey, Mi! I'm sorry I've been gone so long…"
Damien watched the interaction with a soft interaction for a moment, then stepped past the dog. "I'm gonna go feed him now. Do we need to get your clothes 'n shit?"
"Um… yeah, probably. You want me to try and do that while you're feeding Mi?" Rowan asked, still petting Milo affectionately.
"Can you get up the stairs? I don't know if I trust you on those, no offense." Damien looked up the stairwell, remembering Rowan's fall.
"Uh… honestly? Probably not. But I can try if you want me to." Rowan shrugged.
"I really don't. I don't want you to fuck yourself over anymore than you already have." Damien sighed. "Look- uh- it'll only be a minute, I can help you upstairs after I get Milo fed."
Rowan sighed and nodded, leaning against the wall to wait. "Alright, Damien… lemme know when you're ready."
"Sure thing." Damien went to fill up Milo's bowl, calling him after he did. He was back after just a minute, maybe two. "You good to go up now?"
Rowan nodded again and glanced up at the stairwell warily. "Mhmm… so… how're we gonna go about this?" He asked.
"I guess you just go up and I'll kinda hold onto you? Or be behind you or something like that?" Damien guessed, his head cocked as he looked at the stairs.
"Alright…" Rowan headed towards the stairs, hesitating a couple seconds before beginning to head up them.
Damien walked behind Rowan, steadying him by the shoulders as they went. “You got this?”
