Rowan breathed a shaky sigh of relief and grabbed his crutches so he could follow Damien out. "Thank you Damien… thank you so much…"
Rowan breathed a shaky sigh of relief and grabbed his crutches so he could follow Damien out. "Thank you Damien… thank you so much…"
(I’m so sorry about that gap! Some things in life took a fat nosedive, but I’m feeling better for the time being!)
“Yeah. No problem. You need help gettin’ out to the car?” Damien watched Rowan warily, not completely trusting him to keep upright.
(Np, glad you're doing better <33)
"Um… maybe…" Rowan continued trying to get there himself anyhow, though his arms were trembling from the strain. He was weaker now than when he was admitted.
(Aye, thanks <3)
Damien watched Rowan. He sighed, trying to support his friend so that he wouldn't fall. "No, man, you're gonna fall. Lemme help."
(<3)
"Alright, alright…" Rowan sighed and allowed Damien to assist him. "How are we getting back?" He asked.
"I'm drivin'. Don't worry about it." Damien used his free hand to gently ruffle Rowan's hair. "So.. uh- since my room is on the first floor, you can stay in there. I can set up a palette or something for you if you want."
"Mmkay…" Rowan got into the car when they reached it. "I'm still gonna be going to school, right?" He asked.
"I.. don't know. I think so? But your leg is fucked up, Ro." Damien sighed, buckling into the car and starting it up. He turned down the radio, fishing through the stations.
"I mean, yeah… but obviously I can't just stay home alone." Rowan sighed. "I'm hopeless… I'll just figure out school, I guess."
"I guess you can probably go? I dunno, you can walk, right?" Damien furrowed his brows in thought, finally finding his way out of the parking lot.
"I mean, no. Not without the crutches, at least, and barely even with them. But I can't just not go to school. I've missed too much already from being in that hellhole."
"Yeh. They didn't send you your work?" Damien pulled over, fishing out his phone and plugging it in to get a GPS up and running. "I don't know, really. You really can't fucking be alone, man, it's not safe."
"If they sent it to me, I didn't know about it…" Rowan sighed. "Yeah… you're right. But it's not like I constantly had someone with me in there either. This'll be better."
"I hope so." Damien sighed. He got them back on the road. "Uh- you wanna listen to anything in particular? I'm not really into anything playing right now." He tapped the car's dashboard.
"Um… not that I can think of. Anything is fine with me." Rowan sighed and looked out the window, toying with the bandages on his arms a bit.
"Yeah. Alright." He fished through Spotify, putting on some Nirvana at a red light and continuing to drive. "You good with this?"
Rowan nodded, watching the horizon go by through the window. He still seemed tense and antsy, as though afraid that Damien would take him back.
"I'm not taking you back, Ro." Damien would've looked over if he wasn't afraid of crashing the car. "We're.. thirty-ish minutes away from home, alright?"
"Mmkay…" Rowan nodded stiffly, keeping his gaze firmly on the horizon. "I-I… um… thanks, Damien…" He said softly.
"Don't mention it. It's fine." Damien shook his head. He hummed along to the song playing through the stereo, head bobbing.
Rowan nibbled on his knuckles anxiously while he waited for them to arrive back home. He just generally seemed more jittery and tense than when he'd arrived at the hospital.
"You alright, man?" Damien shot a quick glance over. He thumbed through his music, changing albums to the Alice in Chains Unplugged one. One of his favorite. "You need anythin' when we get home? Hungry?"
"M'alright… and yeah, food would be nice. They don't let you have any good food in that place." He sighed.
"Yeah.. I remember that much." Damien bobbed his head along to the song, mumbling the words. "Y'know, I think we really only have like.. box mac 'n cheese. If that's fine."
"Sounds fine to me…" Rowan leaned against the window, still fidgeting a bit. "I'm really not too picky, to be honest…"
