I startled, not expecting the embrace, but soon relaxed against him. “I just wanted to give you something meaningful..
“All I need is you,” I murmured. “As long as I have you, I don’t need anything else. This is meaningful, Elle. Thank you.”
"Anytime.." I murmured, pressing a kiss to his jaw. "Where are we off to, now?"
“Elle… do I come off as too strong?” I finally questioned, pulling away from her to look at her in the eyes.
I tugged him to the side and out of the way of passing pedestrians, my brows drawing together in confusion. "Too strong? What do you mean?"
I let her pull me along, rubbing the back of my head. “As in… do I make you uncomfortable? I know I come off too strong sometimes, but I don’t want you being uncomfortable because of my forwardness.”
I paused to think, admittedly surprised by the question. No one had ever thought to ask me that before….
"You don't make me uncomfortable," I said slowly, "You know my limits. I don't mind being teased—I like it. But in the future, if we go further, I don't want our relationship to be a sexual one, if that makes sense?"
I nodded, reaching out to caress her cheek, relief coursing through me. I hadn’t made her uncomfortable.
“I’m glad,” I finally replied. “The truth is, I want you. I’ll want you every day and that fact will never change. And that doesn’t necessarily mean sexually. It means that day, I want you to be my queen. I want to wait—wait until that moment, because that’ll make it much more special. So I won’t go too far, not unless you tell me yourself.”
Nodding slowly, I leaned against his chest. "Thank you… It means a lot. Nobody really asked before, they just.. assumed and took. And it wasn't that bad, I guess. It's just nice to be asked. And it's nice to be wanted. Especially by you."
I almost snarled when she told me that. I didn’t mind the fact that she’d dated before. Of course she had dated. She should have. What made me furious was the fact that she was used, and not even asked. No consent.
“I’ll always ask,” I told her. “Just not when I want to kiss you, unless you’re mad at me. Then I’ll obviously ask. And I’ll always want you. You, and no one else. No matter how many years go by, even if… even if we have to part ways, I’ll always want you.”
The wave of comfort that washed over me was indescribable. Who else was lucky enough to have a boyfriend as amazing as the boy in front of me? He never ceased to surprise me, never stopped finding different ways to show me he cared. There was no one else on the planet that could compare to him, and never would be.
I slipped my arms around him. "We'll never part ways," I murmured, "Not if I can help it. I've never met anybody that comes close to being as amazing as you, Colton.."
I kissed her. I pulled her towards me and took her lips as my own, and despite saying to cause no scene, I kissed her like my life depended on it. Though it was a gentle, slow and soft kiss, I made sure she knew how I felt.
“You bring out the best of me,” I said through our kiss. “I cannot imagine myself with anyone other than you, and I will never be able to do so, either.”
My heart beat frantically in my chest, like a cage bird begging to be freed. Each word he spoke soothed me further, encased me in a bubble of tranquillity unlike anything I'd ever experienced. Colton loved me. He valued me. And at the moment, nothing else mattered.
"The best is always there.." I responded quietly, pulling away. "Whether I'm near or not."
“What’s the point of being a better person if I can’t be one for you?” I questioned, touching the freckles dotting her features. “The best doesn’t matter if it’s not for you.”
"Of course it does…." I looked up at him through lowered lashes. "But the middle of the street isn't the ideal place to have this conversation, either. Why don't we get to the gardens?"
I hummed in agreement, bursting with intense love for the woman before me.
“All right. Let’s go.”
(skip to when they get to the gates?)
(Yup! And not it~)
(oof, lol)
I pulled Colton into a narrow space between two buildings, partially to escape from the sudden chilly breeze, and partially because I needed a secure space to remove his illusion. "Goodbye, Noah.." I chuckled softly as the remnants of the other man melted away.
“Goodbye, Isabella,” I chuckled, shaking my head in amusement. “Until we meet next time.”
"Hey, Isabella's still here," I reminded playfully, tugging him out from the narrow alley. "Come on let's go to the gardens."
“That was Noah wishing Isabella goodbye,” I corrected her before I pulled on my Princely look. I hooked our arms together like noblemen should, and led her over to the palace. The guards glanced, offered me a nod of acknowledgement, but said nothing.
I struggled to contain by impossibly bright smile as we passed through, barely resisting the urge to release a loud, whooping laugh and spin in a circle.
Elle and I walked until we reached the garden under my name. I stopped us in front of the doorway.
“It’s not much,” I said to Elle. “But it’s somsrhing.”
"It's beautiful," I told him earnestly, running my fingers along the stone archway above us. "Even though it's autumn and not spring. I'm sure we'll fine flowers somewhere.."
