Zachary opened his eyes, nodding slowly.
"You ready..?"
Zachary opened his eyes, nodding slowly.
"You ready..?"
"Not really, but we don't exactly have a choice… we gotta pack our things." Cas got up and started gathering his few belongings.
"Yeah…" Zachary stood as well, using his cane as he helped Cas pack up. "We'll be okay, though." Zachary reached over, gently squeezing Cas's hand.
"Yeah, hopefully… what about Nix, though?" He asked softly. "I'm not sure he'll be okay."
"We'll have to help him…" Zachary let out a soft breath.
"Mhmm… I'm sure Derlik will help him as well, but… I'm not sure how much I trust him." Cas sighed.
"I don't," Zachary admitted, "But he's all we've got."
Cas nodded a bit. "Right. And Nix trusts him more than us right now, so he's our best bet."
"Yeah… We need to change that. Nix shouldn't be so trusting of the chaos god." Zachary sighed, picking up the packed bag.
"Mhmm. I dunno what we can really do, though… he likes Derlik. That much is obvious."
"It is, yes. It's… worrying. We need to catch Derlik in the act of something." Zachary sighed once, arm going around Cas.
"It'll… it'll hurt Nix, but he can't stay with him."
"Right, I just… don't want him to resent us for taking that away from him again. He's not a cat anymore. He wants to make his own decisions."
"Then… we'll have to make it his decision. Let him see how Derlik really is and he'll away from him." Zach shook his head again.
"I know he's not a cat anymore, but he still isn't ready to be a human on his own just yet."
"I guess so… it'll be hard for him to make that decision, though." Cas sighed softly. "He doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He won't want to abandon Derlik just like that."
"Yeah… Damn, this is a horrible situation." Zachary sighed, hugging Cas. Then, he turned to the door, to head out.
"Mhmm…" Cas held tightly to Zachary's hand as he walked out, sighing shakily.
Zachary gave Cas's hand a squeeze as they walked, keeping close. Derlik had helped Nix pack up what little he had, holding the man in one arm.
"Are we… ready?"
"Not really, but I guess we don't have any choice…" He sighed softly. Nix shook his head and buried his face in Derlik's shoulder, trembling lightly.
"I… I know…" Derlik spoke soft words of encouragement to Nix, turning to lead them out the door. He kissed Nix's head, still speaking softly. Zachary watched, giving Cas's hand another squeeze.
Cas was tense as he walked behind Nix and Derlik, obviously not liking the two of them being together. He kept quiet, however, not wanting to upset Nix any more than he already was.
Zachary didn't like it either. He held Cas's hand tightly and his cane with the other, leaning on both.
Derlik was silent as he walked, patting Nix's back to try to keep him calm, distracted.
Cas glanced up at Zachary occasionally, obviously uneasy. He kept quiet as they walked, trying to conserve his energy so he wouldn't get too tired.
Zachary tried to give Cas an assuring smile, but it didn't work very well, dying shortly after. He kissed Cas's cheek, looking forward for a second. Normally, he'd have been able to help Cas walk and carry him when he got tired, but after the shattering, he didn't have much strength himself.
Cas yawned every once in a while, his feet dragging from tiredness. He kept a tight hold on Zachary while he walked, sighing softly. "Are we close…?"
"We're about halfway there," Derlik said, not looking back at the two. Zachary was beginning to tire as well, leaning more and more on his cane. He kept Cas close, trying to support them both, but it was just tiring him more.
