Tori turned to face the screen. "So, creepy masked guy. Can we just.. you know.. leave now? We'll go home, and we won't tell anyone, and this whole thing can be over?"
Tori turned to face the screen. "So, creepy masked guy. Can we just.. you know.. leave now? We'll go home, and we won't tell anyone, and this whole thing can be over?"
Jesse picked up the folded paper and opened it, hoping that there might be some sort of clue of how to get out of this room. Or something else helpful, as it was possible he was overthinking the whole “trapped” thing.
The masked man gave a small chuckle at Amyr’s words. He obviously loved how sarcastic Amyr was. His chuckle stopped when Tori spoke though, giving a ‘hmm’, before replying…
”You know… when it’s a game of life and death you don’t really have a choice but to participate. By the way, is no one going to solve the wallpaper puzzle? I figured that would be the easiest one… anyways, see you all again soon at 4 PM. Buh bye~” the monitor was then shut.
The Librarian shook his head.
”I don’t get informed a lot of things…” he eyed Taran a bit.
”I don’t know but be comfortable here… please be comfortable, otherwise I’m not doing my job…” the Librarian mentioned, still arranging the books.
"Fine, then. We'll do your puzzle." Tori turned to Amyr. "Wanna help me?"
Taran chuckled. "I see. Why don't you get informed? Are you just a cleaner?" She stepped back, studying the shelves. The books looked dull, big and bulky and old, nothing she'd ever want to read.
Amyr looked Tori, a pissed off look on his face. "Quite frankly, no," he stated, "but for the sake of living through this bullshit, I suppose I will." With that, he turned to the curling wallpaper, leaning in to take a close look at it. "What's so puzzling about this damned wallpaper anyway?"
"There's a safe-thing with a code." Tori looked at it again. "The wallpaper's more torn than it was before."
"What are we supposed to get from torn wallpaper?" he asked, without waiting for an answer. He felt like he was supposed to rip off the wallpaper and such he did.
The Librarian took a moment to process the question, ending up with the answer of…
”Yes… something along those lines…” he glanced down at the books and decided to talk about them instead.
”Do you read fantasy…?” he asked, smiling a bit at the title that was in his hand. Pretty nice cover if he was to say so himself.
The safe behind the wallpaper required an eight-digit code to unlock it. And, to be perfectly honest, it was a bit interesting how a lot of things within the room could be written as eight numerical digits.
"The painting is a little off, too. Maybe.. there's something behind it." Tori walked over to the painting and carefully took it off the wall, setting it on the floor.
"Sometimes. I prefer horror, though," Taran said, looking over at the guy. "I like having my blood run. Fantasy is okay, but romance is just dumb, I feel like. Too soppy and gross."
Jesse stared at the bones, wondering whether he could use one of them to pick the lock or something. Was there even a lock on the door? He figured he should actually test that out before he overthought everything. He walked over to the door and tugged. It didn't open at first, but then it managed to open with a loud creaking noise. He jumped, hoping nothing had heard that noise. For a moment he just stood in the doorway, clutching the note.
[ 2:45 PM ]
There was nothing really behind the painting. It was just the wallpaper. As the painting came off, the date did too; 6th August 1945. The date was, in fashion, on a white piece of plastic below where the painting was before it got removed.
”A horror fan…?” the Librarian asked, a bit surprised but smiled politely. He looked down at the pile of books he had in his hand, picking out one which looked significantly newer than the others.
”This might be of your taste…” he mentioned, handing the book to her. The book’s cover was already covered in what appeared to be… blood, with the title, ”Essence of Immortality”, being the only thing uncovered.
”You’re here to look for something… I know that much… might be wiser to start looking for it than talk to me…” the Librarian mentioned, continuing to arrange the books. He seemed calm enough to be the only friendly person here… so far at least.
(I’m sorry Elle, I’ll PM you the contents of the paper real quick)
Nothing was in the doorway, thankfully. Yet there was this uncomfortable chill that would go down Jesse’s spine. It was as if someone was watching from somewhere unknown. Maybe they were even less than five feet away from him… who knows. The room did have windows and other things, might be interesting to look at that… or not.
(it’s okay hahah)
Jesse gulped nervously, deciding to check the windows quickly before making a break for the room “517” and hopefully not dying in the process. He put his hand in his pocket as he went to the window, clutching his pocketknife almost involuntarily, though it wouldn’t do much good against the Hunter.
"Nothing?" Tori flipped the painting to look at the back of it. "Hey, Amyr. Have you found anything?"
Sliding the curtains open, there was indeed someone… watching Jesse all this time. It was a woman, around the age of twenty or something along those lines with a sword that looked like the one from the Meeting Room in hand. She smiled when Jesse opened the curtains, mouthing the words: ”You’re next”. Her sword was stained with blood, clearly not her own.
(Does anyone actually know what the passcode to the safe is? If not, I could give you some hints)
Taran took the book, although, with the blood on it, she wasn't sure how to react to the action. Shrugging, she stuck it under her arm. "I don't even know what I'm looking for," she said blankly. "So, wish me luck in finding it, I guess."
Then again, on second thought… she cracked open the book she had been handed.
Amyr pointed to the safe he had revealed in the wall as an answer. "What if," Amyr mused, "the date was the code in the wall?" He thought the hypothesis to be logical, but he just didn't know what order it'd put the dates. Though that would most likely be easy to guess.
Jesse backed away slowly, closing the curtains and running into the room marked “517.” This nightmare never seemed to end. He listened closely, hoping that he hadn’t been followed as he looked for the gun that was supposedly there.
"Maybe, but the date has six numbers. Doesn't the safe have eight?" Tori walked over to the safe in the wall.
(We might need a hint lol)
"Well, I've you include the zeros in front of August, 08, and the six, 06, wouldn't that make eight numbers?" he replied.
"Oh, you're right!" Tori smacked her forehead. "I'm stupid. Try entering that."
Amyr leaned over and looked at the lock. He first tried entering it DD/MM/YYYY, making the code 06081945. "If I'm wrong you enter the next one," he said. "I have to open the chest now." He walked over to the table and place the chest down, opening it.
"Alright." Tori walked over to the safe. "Lemme see if this works."
The book was… almost unreadable. A lot of the words were cryptic and some were hard to understand directly. Some pages didn’t really have words, they were just random scrambles of words. The book did have two hundred and seventy-nine pages so at least one of them might make sense.
”I did see one of my colleague come in the night before… he went down that aisle…” the Librarian walked past Taran, his hook dangling as he did. He pointed down an aisle were the lights were flickering. Well, one of the aisles where the lights were flickering, that is.
”Might be there…”
517 did not have much to be talked about except for the pistol that was inside the room. Of course, as the note would’ve said, this needed to be used with much care otherwise it won’t be as useful as it should be.
The chest Amyr opened contains three things; a deck of playing card, a chess piece (the Knight), and a note.
”Take the contents of the chest and go to the third floor where you will find the bar and the casino. Enter the room and your mission will begin at 3:00 PM”
(Thank you……)
When 06081945 was keyed into the safe, it opened. Inside was a silver key with the tag backdoor tied to it. There wasn’t anything else, just the key.
