Matthew came back with Fluff following behind. He sat down next to Rowan, offering him some of the food. He smiled.
"I'm glad."
Rowan accepted the food from Matthew with a soft 'thank you' before he began to eat. He lay back on the grass and sighed while he ate.
Matthew was still sitting up, humming softly as he ate as well. Fluff made his way over to Rowan, plopping down on his chest. Matthew laughed lightly at that.
"Sir Fluff," Matthew chided gently.
Rowan giggled a bit and pet the griffin while he ate. "You can't have any of my food. You've got your own." He stuck his tongue out playfully.
Fluff let out a soft sound, leaning into the petting. Matthew smiled a bit, laying down next to Rowan now.
"Still, guard it carefully. Fluff has no care for anything anyone says." he laughed lightly.
"Yeah… probably doesn't know much English, does he?" Rowan kept eating, making sure he always kept the food out of Fluff's reach.
"No, he doesn't. And he ignores everything he does understand." Matthew chuckled a bit. Fluff attempted to get at Rowan's food now, but was unsuccessful. He squawked a bit a Rowan, begging.
"No, Fluff. You've got your own." Rowan finished off his food so that Fluff couldn't take it from him. "You said you brought food for him, right?"
Matthew nodded. He pulled out something out of a bag. It seemed to be raw meat. Fluff perked up, immediently rushing over to pull the meat from Matthews hand.
Rowan sat up and smiled softly as he watched Fluff run over to the food. "Why does he even want cheese and bread if he's supposed to eat meat?"
"Because, he's spoiled." Matthew laughed a bit, rubbing Fluff's back gently. "And he really likes cheese, for some reason." He chuckled again.
"Ah, makes sense… Maisie always wants to get into things she's not supposed to." Rowan laughed softly. "She wants anything I'm eating, even if it's vegetables or something she'll hate.
Matthew nodded.
"Yes! Exactly!" He laughed lightly. He finished off his own food, watching Fluff eating the strip of meat he had been given.
"Animals are so strange, but we love them." Rowan laughed again and moved a bit closer to Matthew. "How long can we rest for?"
Matthew hummed a bit, thinking. He put his hands under his head, looking over at Rowan.
"We can spare a few more minutes if you want." He smiled lightly.
"Sounds good to me…" Rowan scooted over a bit more and rested his head on Matthew's shoulder with a soft sigh. "Hopefully the trip will feel fast, yeah?"
"Hopefully!" Matthew smiled a bit, comfortable with cuddling with Rowan on the ground. He hummed slightly, a smile on his lips. Still… He couldn't help but wonder if he really wanted to let Rowan leave him so soon. He enjoyed spending time with the smaller man.
Rowan smiled softly as he tucked himself under Matthew's arm. "It seems nice here, though, even if there isn't much technology. Maybe I could start my own coffee shop or something." He laughed a bit.
Matthew chuckled a bit.
"I could see it becoming quite popular," he agreed. "And I'm sure the cities have more technology than my village. We're quite… Isolated." Matthew shrugged with one shoulder. He moved his hands from under his head, letting his arm rest around Rowan lightly.
"True…" Rowan huddled a bit closer to Matthew and toyed with his hair a bit. "I mean, I'd be happy to stay if I could convince my mom to come… I don't want to have to teleport back and forth between worlds just to visit her."
"Well, do you think she would like this place?" Matthew asked. He hummed softly when Rowan started playing with his hair. He rested his hand on Rowan's side, smiling a bit.
"I'm sure she would. I don't think she's ever liked New York all that much." Rowan laughed a bit. "It's noisy and crowded and very polluted… and the people are pretty mean. She's talked about moving somewhere more open and less occupied before."
Matthew chuckled a bit.
"Well, that definitely describes this world… And you'll find a lot of people aren't mean. We just don't see any reason to be." Matthew hummed faintly, tiring his head a bit towards Rowan as he relaxed on the ground with him.
"Yeah… I wish people on Earth were more like your guys…" Rowan sighed. "There's a lot of rude, unreasonable assholes there. And sometimes the customers are really mean to me…"
Matthew's eyebrows raised a bit.
"How could anyone be mean to you?* He asked, genuinely confused. He turned a bit on his side to look at Rowan, still holding him with one arm.
