(yeah! and Davin is like "dude this is fucking dangerous, I thought you said you weren't going to do it anymore)

Davin nodded. "Yeah. For a few months, as least. It would be nice." he shrugged his shoulders.

(Yesss)
"Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to settle down for a lifetime. So many people seem to do that. And I wonder if I ever could," Tohru said, thinking aloud, "Or if I want to."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin glanced over at him. "I don't know that I can." he said softly. "But I'm sure you could, some day. If that is what you intend upon." he couldn't settle for a lifetime. Not with his identity.

@Becfromthedead group

"No, but I can't foresee myself ever settling down either. So I'll travel with you as long as it takes to see things through. To make sure you're okay," Tohru promised.

@Becfromthedead group

"That's not going to be soon," Tohru replied, "If ever."
He looked down and away, his cheeks flushing slightly.
"It's more than obligation, though. I like you a lot, and I enjoy your company. And I think you deserve better than the loneliness you've faced all these years."

Tohru didn't see the smile that graced Davin's face at first, as he was avoiding eye contact for a moment. He was being vulnerable. It was humiliating.
"O-of course," Tohru replied softly.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He smiled again, looking down at his feet for a moment. His tail was twitching very softly, wrapping itself around his legs lightly. "Yeah."

Tohru turned back to his research, and he was already honing in on a few possible locations for his target, but it would still take additional searching. He wasn't able to go out yet, though, so he did what he could to learn about the locations, possible entrances and exits, and whatever else might help him make a clean kill and a quick getaway, as well as keeping him from being noticed.
But slowly, his mind wandered from that, and he started looking up Kaythani jewelry. The price tags, even for the simplest of pieces, were steep. It would probably take at least a few months of rigorous bounty hunting to stand a chance at obtaining some. With that, he would probably start to get noticed. He might have to play a longer game. A game he didn't have time for if he wanted to make this gesture.
Yet, he didn't want all of the bounty money to go unspent. He wanted to do something for Davin before giving him back a piece of his home planet. Something. Anything to get some of his dedication across.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin washed out his mug, then wandered into the living room, plopping down on the couch and leaning back on it. He was still a bit tired, though not too badly. The caffeine had helped jumpstart him for the day.

Once Tohru gathered all that he could about the bounty, he switched to another tab. Maybe he should get Davin a piece of clothing with a nice hood. Something different than what he had already. That would also be a good measure of how Davin reacted when it came to gifts. That said, a piece of home was far different from a piece of fabric, and not just because of the price tag.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin got out his tablet and started to read, sitting relaxed on the couch. He would get ready for work later, and if Tohru wanted to talk, he was welcome to come in and talk whenever he watned to.

@Becfromthedead group

Tohru eyed Davin a little bit, trying to determine his clothing size at a glance. Definitely bigger than Tohru. Probably best to make a guess, then go a size up, since a loose garment would be better with the way Davin needed a hood. He went back to scrolling, trying to find a place along his route to pick up the gift.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin sighed faintly, shifting in his seat and continuing to read his book. His tail was resting lightly on the arm of the seat, his legs crossed loosely.

@Becfromthedead group

Tohru sank down in his seat and finally switched over to work on some art, like he originally said he was doing.
"What do you think of this place so far? I mean, the city, the planet. Where does it fall in your ranking?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin looked up, thinking about the question for a moment. "I don't know. It's not bad at all, though it's certainly helped by the fact that I have company this time." he smiled a little bit.

@Becfromthedead group

"I guess so, huh? I got to thinking that it would actually fall pretty low on my list if I wasn't here with you," Tohru laughed, "There seems to be a lot of crime, and it's not exactly pretty here."

@Becfromthedead group

"I guess the same goes for me," Tohru said, "But a lot of it has to do with the fact I chase bounties. And where there's a lot of bounties, there's usually a lot of crime. I'm used to it, but I've never particularly liked or understood it."

@Becfromthedead group

"How about you then? How'd you end up in crime-filled areas so much? Cheaper living? Easier to lay low? Fancy the thrill of hearing gunshots from time to time?" Tohru asked, tilting his head.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He laughed a little bit. "Cheap. And no one asks too many questions when you go missing." he replied with a faint shrug. "I couldn't live and work in an area where people didn't generally just up and leave with no explanation, so therefore I have to live in an area where it's normal."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Yeah. And besides, the government isn't going to care about some random poor person vanishing off of the street. Most of the time, anyway." he shrugged.
