Tohru woke up on the later side, but before noon, to the smell of cooking.
He smiled a bit to himself. It was a nice change. He hadn't been cooked for since he was living with his family on Drestia.
The young man stretched a bit and swung his legs over the edge of the bed before walking into the kitchen.
"Good morning," he said, "What're you making? It smells good."
Davin looked up, greeting him with a smile. "Eggs." He replied, flipping them over. "I hope you like them scrambled?" He raised his eyebrows a little. "I also made coffee."
"Yeah, thank you," Tohru replied softly, a smile spreading over his face.
He went to pour himself a cup of coffee.
"How are you this morning?"
Davin kept working on the eggs. He was still in his pajamas, a t shirt and loose drawstring pants, with a hole cut in them to let his tail poke through. His curly hair was draped around his shoulders, loose and soft. "I'm good. Did you sleep alright?"
"Once I got to sleep, yeah," Tohru admitted, "I don't think I dozed off until four or five, though."
He leaned up against the counter, taking a few sips of coffee.
"Not really my intention, but it happens."
He frowned a little bit. "Oh. Insomnia?" He asked, glancing back down at the eggs to make sure they weren't burning or anything.
Tohru shrugged.
"Yeah, guess so. I mean, it's part of the reason I basically live off caffeine," he replied, chuckling to himself.
"Hm. Maybe we should cut you off from caffeine, then." He replied, cocking his head at Tohru.
"Heh, I only started drinking because I'm so sleep deprived. I don't drink the stuff at night because it would only keep me up worse," Tohru said, "Besides, at this point, I get headaches if I don't have at least a little in the morning."
"Ah, I see." He finished the eggs, serving them onto plates. "My apologies, then."
Tohru laughed.
"It's fine. A hell of a lot of people have a caffeine addiction. It's mildly annoying at worst."
He smiled a little, nodding in agreement. "True." He replied, serving himself a mug of coffee and then turning back to Tohru. "So what's the plan for today?"
"I'm working a short shift this afternoon so they can show me the ropes for real, but that's about it," Tohru replied, "How about you?"
"I was thinking we could keep working on the painting." He replied, gesturing vaguely to the walls. "And getting everything set up."
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Tohru agreed, "I'll go change after breakfast, and we can get started."
He nodded a little, and got to work on his eggs. "Sounds good." He replied.
Tohru smiled and started eating his breakfast.
"Thanks again," he said.
"You're welcome." He replied, smiling at Tohru.
After finishing his meal, Tohru went to change into some old jeans and a t-shirt that he usually threw on when he was doing art projects.
He tied his hair back away from his face, then went to pour himself a second cup of coffee.
Once Tohru came back, Davin went and changed as well, coming back out in a pair of old, rather ragged cloth pants and a t shirt, his hair bound back in a bun on top of his head.
"Alright, let's get to it," Tohru said, going to where some of the unopened cans of paint were.
He looked over them.
"Which room did you want to do next?"
He shrugged a little. "I don't really have a preference. Whichever one you would prefer, I suppose."
"Mm, bedroom maybe? Just so we can get everything in there out of the way before bed tonight, " Tohru suggested, grabbing for a paintbrush.
He scanned over the buckets, trying to find the color they had picked.
"Alright." He replied, grabbing the tape. "I'm going to start taping the wall in there, then."
"Yeah, let's do that," Tohru agreed, going to help.
He carefully pressed tape against the baseboard to protect it, humming to himself as he focused on the task at hand.
