"Thanks, love…" Cas tilted his chin up to kiss Nick gently before leaning over the toilet. He could feel bile rising in his throat, the acid burning painfully. Without any food mixed in, it was bound to hurt. He gagged and then threw up what little was in his stomach, trembling weakly when he was finished.
“So, food is a no for now, then?” Nick asked, trying to sound light and humorous, and failing. “Sorry.” He put his arms around Cas, hoping that would help.
Cas just shook his head weakly and just leaned into Nick, wanting to huddle close to him. He was still shaking and generally seemed upset.
“Do you think you can handle a glass of water?” Nick asked gently. “It’s okay if you can’t do that right now, though.”
"Maybe… It's worth a try, I guess…" Cas lay his head on Nick's shoulder and closed his eyes.
"Okay, we can get some in a minute, then," Nick responded, not wanting to move now.
Cas nodded. "Sounds good, love… I'm sorry for everything."
"I told you that don't need to apologize," Nick said quietly. "It's okay. I'd do anything for you, and you know that."
"I know, I know…" Cas sighed. "It's just… this is clearly all my fault, and n-now I've dragged you into it, and I feel horrible about it…"
"It's okay," Nick responded. "You can stop apologizing. Please."
Cas looked down at the ground guiltily, clearly biting his tongue to keep himself from apologizing again.
Nick smiled. "I love you so much, Cas." He continued to the hold the other boy, silently willing him to feel better.
"I love you too…" Cas buried his face in Nick's chest and hugged him tightly. "I wish our plan would've gone better…"
"Me too," Nick sighed. "But we'll make it out. I'll do everything I can to help you."
Cas nodded, hesitating before his next question. "…When do you think they'll notice I'm gone?"
"I don't know," Nick admitted. "The sooner they notice, the sooner they're going to show up here possibly trying to kill me though." He sighed.
Cas sighed as well and held tighter to Nick. "How are we going to stop them from hurting you?"
"We'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it, because I have no clue," he sighed. "I can defend myself. I have my powers."
"Mm… I'll try to protect you too, but I can't make any promises in this condition." He nestled his head into the crook of Nick's neck.
"Thanks, love," Nick sighed, trying not to think about it. He was just glad to have Cas back, even if he was worried about him.
"Mhmm…" Cas yawned a bit. "I don't think I'm gonna throw up anymore, so we can go back to the bed if you want."
"Sounds good to me," Nick agreed. "Are you up for a sip of water?"
He nodded. "I think so. Again, worth a try either way. My throat hurts like hell."
Nick carefully moved a bit, standing up. He offered Cas his hand.
Cas took it and allowed Nick to help him up. He swayed on his feet, and he still wasn't sure he could walk.
