“Yeah, true. I’m sure we can find someone in the city who can connect us to the pirates, but I don’t know where to look,” he admitted.
“Yeah, true. I’m sure we can find someone in the city who can connect us to the pirates, but I don’t know where to look,” he admitted.
"I mean, I suppose we could just go out to the beach and wait for them to show up, but I don't think we'd have much luck." Cas hummed, thinking. "Should we ask around?"
“Asking around sounds like it could work,” Nick said, deep in thought. “But we’d have to be discreet about it, obviously.”
"Yeah, we can't just go up to people like, 'Hey, do you know any pirates?'. It'd be suspicious. How do you think we should go about it?"
Nick thought for a moment. “Figure out some places that’d be likely to have pirates or people who know them, and then, in disguise, begin a conversation with them and ease into the whole pirate thing. Maybe say we want to join or we need something stolen until we are face-to-face with them?” he suggested, nervously.
"Sure." Cas kissed Nick's cheek. "How do we get disguises? I'm guessing Jane doesn't have any pirate attire in my size."
“I don’t have pirate attire in any size,” Nick said with a smile, running his hand through Cas’s hair. “I think some ripped and dirty clothes will be enough. Maybe a hat for you.”
"Yeah… stupid red hair." Cas sighed, looking up at Nick. "I wish I wasn't so easy to identify sometimes. At least for you, brown hair and stuff is common."
“I love your hair,” Nick replied, smiling at him. “I have several hats. So does Jane. You’ll be fine. Ya know, until we find the pirates and all.”
"Alright… Maybe we could use charcoal or something to make my hair darker?" He suggested. "Then we wouldn't have to worry about hats."
“Where would we get charcoal though?” Nick glanced at the fireplace on the other side of the room. “There’s charcoal in fireplaces, right?”
"I suppose so." Cas shrugged. "It might be important for the pirates to be able to identify me, though…"
“That’s true…” Nick assented. “So a hat, then? It would easier than charcoal.”
He nodded. "We'll just have to find one that both fits and hides my hair."
“We can always go buy one or something,” Nick added. “You can wear your hood up until then.”
"Sounds good. What do we do until we go shopping?" He asked, yawning again.
Nick glanced at Cas. “Plan, I suppose. And try to think of what to actually do once we speak to the pirates. Also learn whatever we can. I think that sooner rather than later would benefit us, so is tomorrow too early, do you think?”
"Probably so. Do you have any books on pirates here?" He asked, looking over at the door. "They could help us if so."
“Jane thinks they’re cool, so yes actually,” Nick said. “I think. But it’s not unlikely.”
"Well, you can either call her in or go to her, but I don't think it's wise for me to leave." Cas reluctantly pulled away from Nick.
Nick sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. “You’re right. I’ll be back as soon as possible, love.” He opened his eyes again and crawled out of his bed and out the door to go find Jane.
"Alrighty." Cas curled up alone on the bed, waiting for Nick's return.
Nick came back several minutes later with three different books piled in his arms. “Jane gave me these recommendations with the words,’Finally you’re excited about something intellectual!’” Nick huffed, setting the heavy books down at the foot of the bed.
"Cool. What're these ones about specifically, other than just generally pirates?" He asked, picking up one of the books to examine.
“Umm, one of them is the history of pirates, one of them is about pirates, thieves, and ‘the like’, and the third one is about…how to become a pirate, I think? It’s not super clear. But either way, we’ve got three books on pirates!” Nick said, sitting on the bed and picking up a book as well.
