Cas nodded and flipped one open, beginning to read. "This is the 'how to become a pirate', right?" He looked at the cover. "Uh… yeah. I'm reading this one."
Cas nodded and flipped one open, beginning to read. "This is the 'how to become a pirate', right?" He looked at the cover. "Uh… yeah. I'm reading this one."
“Okay, guess I’ll read the history one, then,” Nick replied, opening it. He actually was quite fond of history, so it shouldn’t be a pain to read, he decided.
"Well, I've learned nothing of importance." Cas said after reading for a while. "There isn't a whole lot about how to get captured by pirates and not die."
“Neither have I,” Nick replied, glancing at Cas’s book for a moment before looking back at the other boy. “The early history is just how they came to be.”
Cas sighed, falling back on the bed. "What're we gonna do?" He asked tiredly.
“What we always do, wing it,” Nick responded, trying to sound upbeat. “Though maybe we could, uhmm, come up with a convincing argument about why they need us alive, just in case.”
"Just tempt them with money, I guess. I mean, I'm sure the kings of two different kingdoms are willing to pay a hefty sum for their heirs, right?" He shrugged, staring at the ceiling.
"True," Nick agreed. "And if they killed us I'm fairly certain that would mean war with the pirates, which they probably wouldn't want."
"Mhmm." Cas yawned, stretching a bit. "Well, I guess that's our plan for now. Now what?"
“Now we sleep, and then tomorrow we’ll start to ask around,” Nick suggested. “How does that sound?”
"Sounds good, love." He held his arms out for Nick, yawning again.
Nick moved the books onto his desk before coming back and snuggling up to Cas. “G’night.”
"Night…" He huddled close to Nick, sighing contentedly and soon falling asleep.
(time skip?)
(Sure)
The next morning Nick woke up having a purpose in mind. Today he and Cas were going to ask around and try to find some pirates.
Cas awoke soon after Nick, yawning and blinking in the bright sunlight. "Mm… morning, love…" He mumbled tiredly.
“Morning,” Nick added brightly, already blinking the sleep away from his eyes. Being a morning person definitely came in handy.
"How long have you been awake?" He asked, looking up at Nick. "You're remarkably chipper."
“Only a couple of minutes,” Nick responded. “I’m just a morning person, I guess. I’m ready to get up and get this shit over with!”
Cas sighed, tucking his head under Nick's chin and huddling closer. "Five more minutes…"
Nick leaned into Cas, giving in. "Okay, fine, but only five more minutes…" he agreed reluctantly, not actually minding all that much.
"Thanks, love…" He mumbled, getting comfortable. He was trying his best to keep his eyes open, but it was getting increasingly difficult.
"Of course," Nick whispered in response. Anything for you, he added mentally as he closed his eyes.
Cas soon drifted off into a light sleep again, relaxing against Nick's chest. His breathing was even and slow, and he seemed content.
