Farah opened her eyes, and Aiki could see the tears that had been building up beneath her eyelids. "I miss him," she whispered, her voice thick.
Farah opened her eyes, and Aiki could see the tears that had been building up beneath her eyelids. "I miss him," she whispered, her voice thick.
"I-I know, but… I'm sure you'll be back home soon, yeah?" Aiki offered a hopeful smile. They were never great at comforting people, to be honest.
Farah blinked quickly. "Yes… Saul will get me home."
Aiki nodded. "Yeah, that's the spirit. Now, it's getting kinda late, so… do you want to sleep?" He asked.
Farah nodded. "Alright, thank you."
"I'll see you in the morning, yeah? Goodnight…" Aiki got up and went to their room.
"Goodnight." Farah went up into her room.
Saul?
He jolted in surprise again. Yes, Farah?
Tell me about what's happened since I've been gone.
Aiki got ready for bed and then soon went to sleep, as did Eiji.
Farah stayed awake a few hours longer, talking with Saul and crying as she missed him even more. Finally, she fell asleep.
In the morning, Aiki and Eiji headed to the kitchen to get some breakfast.
Farah came down. She didn't look well-rested, but she did look happier than the twins had seen her in days. She was already talking to Saul.
"Hey, Farah! How are you feeling?" Aiki asked as they shoved a spoonful of cereal into their mother. Eiji waved, eating as well.
"Much better," the fairy remarked. She slipped into "her" seat and smiled. "It's been life-saving to hear his voice again."
"That's good to hear. What do you want to do today?" Aiki asked, finishing their cereal and taking it to the sink.
"Saul and I are working out a plan to get me back," Farah replied. "It will take time, so I suppose we can do whatever you like today."
"Alright, sounds good. We don't have school today, so we're free to do pretty much whatever." Aiki shrugged.
"Lovely," Farah chirped. "I-" She stopped talking and looked focused. Saul was talking to her.
Aiki and Eiji both tilted their heads a bit when Farah stopped talking. "Ah? You what?" Eiji asked.
"So sorry," Farah apologized. "Saul was talking to me. As I was saying, I was wondering if there's anything in the way of a library around here?"
"A library? Yeah, there's a few around here. There's a really big one at our school, too. Lots of history books, which we don't really care for, but you might like them." Aiki shrugged.
Farah perked up. "That sounds lovely! Could I go?"
"Yeah, sure. We can go with you as long as we don't have to read boring history." Aiki yawned a bit and Eiji nodded. "We're allowed to go to the school when it isn't in session, after all. And you won't be able to get in without one of our keycards."
Farah laughed softly. "You're more than welcome to come with me. And no, you don't have to read history, but I believe people who think history is boring are boring." She winked playfully.
Aiki rolled his eyes. "Pretty boring thing to say, not gonna lie. We should get going." They grabbed their jacket with a soft sigh, and Eiji followed suit.
Farah rolled her eyes. "You're just saying that so you're not calling yourself boring," she remarked, standing up and following Eiji.
"No, I'm just saying that history is pretty boring when it's been burned into your brain all your life." Aiki shrugged. "It's freaky to be super into it."
"I'm not super into it," Farah retorted. "But I'm terribly intrigued by First World history. I know the history of The Otherworld."
"I guess that makes sense. It's not very interesting to us since… well, we already know it. And it's really familiar to us." Aiki yawned a bit as he followed.
"Well I don't," Farah stated, arching her eyebrows as if it was a challenge. "And I'd like to learn."
"Yeah, I never said you couldn't. Just explaining that we're not inherently boring people for not being interested." Aiki retorted simply.
