I read it after and it wasn't too hard to grasp the worldbuilding for me

I'm realizing that my reading taste is that of someone who is new to the bookish community and I am not here for it

That was me last year and it was the best reading year of my life

Pickles I still enjoy Basic Girl YA^TM on occasion and I am…ashamed of that, but I still enjoy it. So. We're in similar (the same?) Boats lol

checks list I've read 13 books this year (heck that's a lot more than I thought) and probably exactly none of them are even remotely new lmao

Yup, I no longer like things like Twilight, Divergent, or The Hunger games, but like… YA dystopian heck yeah even though everyone else left it behind after THG

The Hunger Games is by far the most superior YA dystopian because it's actually got complexity and themes. Divergent could never.

oof same. I really like dystopia too! Not the Maze Runner tho, that series was…meh, but like…I've read some really cool ones?? my taste is so weird tho. Like I love love love POC and LGBTQ rep, but at the same time I can still enjoy Basic White Girl stories??? Like idk, man

I liked The Hunger Games, Catching Fire was decent enough, and Mockingjay.. what even happened in that book? I don't remember but I've read it at least three times trying to figure it out. I liked Divergent and Insurgent, but I stand by my claim that Allegiant was useless and could have been the epilogue of Insurgent. But even a few years ago I tried to reread them and I only liked one scene from each of them

I thought the Maze Runner was good enough for me to continue, but Scorch Trials was awful and I only made it a few chapters in before dnf ing it. Also I really want to enjoy historical fiction but I just don't

Personally I believe that the reason so many people dislike Mockingjay is because it was their first introduction to an unflinchingly brutal book. Reading it in middle school isn't fun because you just want everyone to get a happy ending, but coming back to it as an older teen makes you appreciate it a lot more.

The Maze Runner was boring as f u c k, I liked The Scorch Trials more because Brenda added some much-needed life to the series. My friend spoiled The Death Cure for me so I didn't even bother finishing it,

I feel the feels of falling into that one genre you know people will judge you about. looks at shelf completely double parked with smut, smut and oh hey more smut.

My shelves are almost entirely YA with a shelf of Star Wars books and Shakespeare/classics

that's not entirely bad. Most people secretly (or not secretly) enjoy smut occasionally
