I'd like more unflinchingly brutal (but not grimdark) books. Like the trials in An Ember in the Ashes, I was totally expecting the third challenge to get reversed at some point but it didn't and it was pretty great.
Did you read 5th Wave? Because that definitely qualifies.
No. One of my friends like it (I think? She's talked about it before) but I'm not too into early 2010s YA.
More books that aren't fully in prose. Be it novels in verse, books told in a script format, books with chunks of plays/podcasts/etc, or emails, I think they're really fun. Illuminae and Sadie are great examples of this.
And Journey to the West because I totally do not just love that book.
Dom have you read the second one yet?
I WANT TO READ SADIE BY COURTNEY SUMMERS, BUT THERE'S SO MANY PEOPLE ON HOLD FOR IT-
I'm so incredibly angry.

I'm too stupid for anything other than the most basic of plots, really. It's upsetting
Yeah.^^
Can I pm you? I need to scream about events

Elizabeth Acevedo does really good novels-in-verse, so does Sonya Sones.

audiobooks let me zone out and I end up playing the same two minutes over and over again
Yeah.^^

Oh hell yeah. But I might go outside soon.

It's actually pretty easy to read, story wise. Sun Wukong whacks stuff with a giant stick 50% of the story.
Yeah.^^

I have a decent property so I won't need to see others. Gonna try yelling singing in the barn or something.
(Also I got to hug Mikayla last night. I haven't seen her irl since before quarantine. And I touched Josh's finger. Because him being him he insisted on being six feet apart. I love him so much.)

Ha same but I'm addicted to them
I've never been a fan of audiobooks or ebooks personally, I prefer physical ones.
I'm okay with ebooks, I just can't do audiobooks for some reason
I used to really only read physical books, but then I got busier and started having less time to sit down and read, so I started using playaways from the library. And then I had less time to go to the library at all and cue Overdrive. I'm not a huge fan of ebooks, because they usually expire before I get to them, but I have listened to so many audiobooks on there, and I've used up all of my bookshelf space as well as holds. I really want to try reading a book while I listen to the audiobook, but that's gonna have to wait a while
I'm starting Six of Crows, is it any good?
Playaways are cool, I use them sometimes. The Westing Game is really good as a playaway!
But I have to be doing something while I listen to audiobooks. So that's why I'm on level 2165 in candy crush-

Force me to read it with you. It's been on my shelf for months and I haven't gotten into it. But I haven't heard anything too bad about it

Yes it's super good!! If you haven't read Shadow and Bone the world is a bit confusing at first, but the ending (and Crooked Kingdom) are sooo worth it!!
