@Althalosian-is-the-father book
Hahahahahaha
Hahahahahaha
I do like seeing other half-human half-(insert species) though, so the fae/human combo sounds cool!
They are cool, but they….don't get the best of the powers. Most of the time their magic comes pretty late into their teens/20s (if at all) and it's very hard to control usually or maybe just in Cordelia's case since she has both her genetic magic and also magic she accidentally got when she was healed
I hate when books make it clear that something's urgent and you have five seconds to do this thing and it's gonna take exactly that long so you better do it now–
Oh wait let me pause and be an allo for ten seconds and miraculously get the thing done
Ma'am, do you understand how much I've already suspended my disbelief? I can't do much more and you stopping to flirt is just even more unrealistic and makes me panic. Will you get the thing done? I don't know!! Aaaand you got the thing done, wow, how realistic was that amiright
Gotta love when you're reading a thriller and the murderer isn't even introduced as a character until the last 50 pages

I've also read the reverse where the identity of the killer is very basically revealed in the first 50 pages. Gotta love that as well.

And when they literally have no connection to the crime committed
Fun times

my fav is when the character's name clearly means "murderer" or "evil" which reveals the killer because I also know those name meanings for reasons….
Redemption arcs. Have them be understandable, but still sometimes an actual bad person.
Agreed.
My Gabriel has slowly gone from being a one-note villain to a man who makes terrible choices that he very much does believe are right. He doesn't quite redeem himself at the end, but he turns against the villain and helps to defeat him.
Friendly reminder that dying is not a redemption arc, please try harder to justify your character's bullying of children :))
I'm on the fence with Neirym a bit. Wondering if I should add that sometimes he is picked by his conscience. I feel it would distract from the monster that he is though.

Lol that's how I was going to deal with one of my dudes. But I think I will destroy two plot moving characters and make a new body out of their ashes.
Oh my gosh I can't believe that name change didn't click instantly.

Oleander has a conscience, the Erl King just deactivated it for a little
One of my characters got a redemption arc before he even needed it because the plot needed to move along before he could turn evil and the rest aren't getting one because they suck and I hate them
I laughed at that.

I'm naming him Drakóno because he's replacing a dragon. I'm original.
My big bad has no redemption. He looked at the line and very decisively crossed it with the firm belief he is in the right. The rest of the villain crew on the other hand… A lot of the time the "choice" to be bad is forced or misinformed so they might get a redemption arc. At least a few can be sympathetic villains, but that brings to mind the quote "Cool motive, still murder."
Not to @ anyone… but children of God or Satan. It's worse than having elves.

I see this and raise you one particular monster idea, the child of god and satan that i've sadly seen on more than one OC occasion

I don't even think there's a gif for my reaction to this

Oof yeah
I have a friend who has something kinda like this, but I don't think he's using actual people's gods. It's one thing if it's like a Percy Jackson style demigod system (mainly because the gods are like apathetic about their kids at best) but when you have the uwu chosen one, child of God and Satan who's gonna save da world!!
That has some heavy implications that I Do Not Like
