I read this Chinese novel, the main couple was kinda gay, but it had such a slow burn and it focused on the plot just right - it was simply amazing and so well written. You never felt like the romantic subplot was being shoved in ur face, in fact, it made u scream for them to get together sooner so that the emotional turmoil would be over

On that note, I'm sick of love stories where the novel's plot happens within the course of a few weeks

I remember this one series I read when I was younger where the heroine literally meets someone, falls in love with him, and is willing to die for him (your usual YA romance novel fare). And I used to think it was slow-burn because it happened over the course of three long-ass books

but I reread it a while ago and it turns out that these three books only cover the events of 2 weeks

this girl got into a "I would die for you" kind of relationship over the course of two weeks and that's scary

It's because people don't realize that Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy, not a romance. They think that the whole "Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but you're super hot, and I'd die for you baby" thing is romantic but it was never meant to be. Romeo and Juliet is about two teenagers who meet and think they're in love, then kill themselves because their parents value a blood feud over the wellbeing of the younger generation, thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

You know what's a more compelling relationship? Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Hamlet and Horatio. Hamlet and Ophelia. Oberon and Titania. Benvolio and Mercutio. Beatrice and Benedick. Hero and Claudio. Victor and Clerval.
Romeo and Juliet isn't supposed to be like that.

HAMLET, OPHELIA, AND HORATIO WERE CLOSETED POLY AND NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE

I've slowly fallen into shipping Henry V and Montjoy and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Listen, when I played Montjoy my directors had me kiss Henry's hand twice and stare into his eyes for a really long time in a few scenes, and had Henry and I make direct eye contact when he was saying how terrible the loss of the French soldiers was. It was surprisingly gay.

I also got down on both knees to beg Henry to let the French see the Agincourt field.

Yes I still have post-show depression from a show I was in in July, that's why my username is still MontJyn

I want to see less of the mY sOuLmAte dIed aNd nOw i wILL nEvEr loVe aGaiN tropes, and overdone dramatic horrid backstories for the point of having them there. I mean, if it happened for a reason significant to the book, go for it! But please don't do the "I was tortured and now I'm goth" because it's no use
I mean, one of my character's entire plot started because her little brother wanted an exotic flower and she just wanted to get it for him. No death, no tragedy. Just a simple life.
