Man, I'm really sick of the stereotypical 'uptight older sister, rebellious spunky little sister' thing. Maybe it's just because my family isn't like that but it's weird that it's in like. every book.

@ninja_violinist

Wait that's an actual thing??
(I need to go tell my older sister this so we can laugh for a hundred years since it's the exact opposite in our case
UPDATE: she told me I was a rebellious teen in the sense that I was rude to our parents. Thanks for that.)

Yesss, I have some sibling relationships (usually fairly strained ones but still) and in none of them is the older sibling shown as evil or bad just because.
Joan and Nell are pretty close; Giana is never shown as bad for being more cold, just a bit standoffish to Vivian; Victor values Claire and her safety more than just about everything else; Morgan tries her hardest to stay in touch with her sisters and brother; Oliver doesn't have a close relationship with Therese, but he still loves her and trusts her; Emily's death is literally the catalyst for the rebellion; Daniel is kind of distant but still loves Della; Alice watches over her sister and brothers quite a bit; Francesca will do anything to protect her sisters; Amira doesn't always spend tons of time with Meg and they're distant now, but they still love each other; etc.

When in reality, I sometimes really dislike my little brother, but I don’t hate him. And sometimes I’m just sort of apathetic to my sibs.

same here

Yeah same, my sister annoys the hell out of me at times, but I wouldn't sell her out for a piece of Turkish Delight, you know?

@Pickles group

Your at the time were entirely innocent siblings who had done nothing to you other than say be nice when you were making fun of your little sister for something that turned out to be true. I loathe Edmund with a burning passion.

Oh pretty woman in the woods giving me addictive candy. Nevermind what my sister said about her being bad or her clearly terrible plans and her being clearly evil. Lemme just go with her

@ninja_violinist

I mean
idk if this makes it better but if they were fleeing from WW2 they would have also been living with rations. Edmund hadn't seen candy in years, probably.
