The "my boyfriend just broke up with me so I'm going to kill myself" dramatics need to stop. (Bella fucking Swan)
Edward, Christian, and Hardin are all abusive dicks that get excused because of their dicks.
When heavyset female are unnecessarily crass? It's such an odd trope and I don't quite understand why it exists, but it's like heavier girls are often automatically sidelined to comedic relief
Innacurate representations of religioua people. Like yeah, I get that they're out there but you're shedding the whole religion in a bad light
Broody Mysterious Edgy (tm) characters who spill their tragic backstory to anyone remotely person-shaped at the drop of a hat.
I can understand this if placed in a comedy show but seriously what is even the point in something that's not comedy
Weightloss = success
One sided characters or cliche villains (like the "mean popular girl")
Less of minorities only existing to get publicity (seriously let them be their own character)
Characters only existing as a love interest
Yeah. I like it when they give villains, even if they are cliche, perspective. And the whole thing about minorities for the sake of minorities is, to me, more useless than it is meaningful. Like, if a character is a minority, totally cool, but don't make them a minority just because you think that you have an obligation to. ~ Jak

Anything that would qualifies as bad writing in literally any genre would work wonders in a good comedy
One thing that I don't see a lot of, but still needs to go anyways it putting major spoilers on the front/back covers of books. Like why would you do this?!!?!?!?
WHY THE HECK WOULD SOMEONE THINK THAT'S A GOOD IDEA?
I don't know, but it needs to stop. Luckily though, like I said previously it's not exactly a huge problem. I can only think of like 2 or 3 examples and they aren't even very well known books to begin with. But still like???? I don't understand it. Why would you put a very obvious spoiler (or hint at one in a way that's not at all subtle) on the cover of your book? Why bother reading it if you already know how it ends?
Lol there was a book I had to read in elementary school where the title gave away the ending. My 9-year-old self ripped it to shreds for that and many, many other reasons.
I think it was called My Brother Sam is Dead?
(Also I can't believe they let us read that??? Because it was a class reading, and I'm pretty sure the way he died was like a firing squad or something. He was definitely executed, and it wasn't implied.)
OH THAT BOOK!
I REMEMBER THAT ONE!
Yeah I think it was a firing squad.
My school library had a book where the MC's best friend died after getting the everloving shit beat out of his face by a British soldier……..so yeah……5th Grade Me was lowkey traumatized lol
Yeah, they made us read some weird stuff in elementary school… Especially people in the "gifted" cluster.
(also what is it with the British soldiers?! Was that one Revolutionary war stuff too?)
Yeah it was a 'Dear America' type book I think. Revolutionary War-era.
Oh my mom used to have that. But I never read it.
While we're still on the topic of major spoilers being on book covers, my favourite instance of that would have to be this:
It's not immediately obvious unless you've read the book (and honestly, if you're going to put a huge spoiler on the cover of your book, that's probably how it should be done). But I remember reading it for the first time and just losing my goddamn mind because I somehow still didn't see it coming even though it's like right there.
Characters that are too young to have a fully developed vocabulary that use words you'd find in high school English classes. Like, smart characters might use them, yeah, but if they're ten and don't give a frack about school or learning or anything, then they won't use really large, uncommon words or make references to stuff you learn in high school/college classes. They just DON'T

That is pretty ridiculous. ~Jak
