”Derek.” Peter answered looking at Abby and not meeting Nyt’s gaze. ”Let’s just say he said something… not worth repeating about Nyt and Adar after he pulled my arm the wrong way.”
Abby clenched her fists at the insinuation, scowling deeply. ”I… see. Good thing he's not here then.” she sighed. I should have seen this kind of thing coming. Everything was going so easily.
Nyt frowned. She knew that people probably going to be against the idea, but it hadn't seemed that bad until now. She moved her hand up to Abby's shoulder, replacing the arm around her waist with a tail. "Thank you, Peter." She said with a small smile.
Peter looked up at Nyt, a little confused for a second before smiling. ”No problem, Nyt. I don't let people talk like that about my friends.” he assured them confidently.
Abby closed her eyes and let out a slow breath, trying to relax, as her girlfriend adjusted her hold, leaning against her a little in response. She knew she would have to deal with Derek somehow sooner or later but for right now… it wasn't quite as important. ”And thanks for telling us about this.” she told him, calmer now as her hands uncurled thought her nails had left little crescent marks on her palms.
Nyt grabbed one of Abby's hands. She nodded to Peter. "Thank you anyways, Peter. I think Abby and I need to go talk to a few more people." She said, steering Abby away.
”Alright. Well, you two have fun.” Peter nodded with a smile and a small wave as he returned to the party as well.
Abby held Nyt’s hand and walked with her, knowing that it would be pointless to fight against her… not that she wanted to. Honestly, she felt a little numb because of everything that Peter had just told them. Still angry at Derek but mostly numb.
"Abby." She said, forcing her to look up at her. "I know you're mad, but were at a party. There is nothing we can do about it right now. So let's try to enjoy ourselves and have a good time." Nyt reasoned. "This isn't going to be something you're going to get a second chance at. You can get however many chances to beat on Derek."
Abby sighed a little, trying to calm down as she listened to Nyt. ”I know.” she said softly. ”I just… I should have expected something like this to happen. Even after the Civil War, it took… I don't even know how long before people were finally treated fairly.” she groaned, running her fingers through her hair. ”I… I won’t do anything right now. I’ll try to be happy for you during this but… You’re right. I’ll deal with Derek later.”
Nyt smiled. "Good," She said giving her a kiss on her head. "We can deal with that later. This party is about helping humans and Sylvians get closer. Let's focus doing that on doing that, instead of the negative things."
Abby’s face turned red at the kiss but she managed to smile back. “Yeah, you’re right. Let's get back to ”work” and have a good time.” she agreed with a brief nod before a possible idea came to her mind. ”I probably should have asked this before the party but… do you dance?”
"Of course! Do you know how to?" Nyt asked as she lead her back to the main part of the party. "Well the more accurate question is what do you consider dancing?"
Abby nodded, chuckling a little as she walked with her. ”Well, it depends on the type of music but Uncle Toby taught me how to slow dance. You know, like the Waltz… and a few other classic dances.” she explained. ”I can dance to other music too but…It really depends on the setting, mood, and the beat of the music.”
The music shifted to a bit slower song. This was one of Nyt's favorite songs.
"Won't you dance with me?" She asked, outstreching her hand.
Abby smiled at her and took her hand. ”I would love to. But you might have to guide me through these steps.” she admitted.
"I'll guide you. It's not too difficult." Nyt said as she took Abby's hands in hers. "Just follow my lead."
Abby nodded and waited for Nyt to take the first steps. It had been a while since she actually got to dance… especially with someone. Just don't look down and try not to step on her feet.
Nyt slowly started to lead her in a dance that lead them in circles. She made sure to talk it slow for Abby. None of the two dance moves were too sudden or jerky. It seemed to be a mix of a slow dance and a waltz.
(Abby: We can't have our relationship be known to the public!
Nyt: OK
Also Nyt: wraps tail around Abby, holds her hand, dances with her, just dies everything to show her love in public)
Nyt slowly started to lead her in a dance that lead them in circles. She made sure to talk it slow for Abby. None of the two dance moves were too sudden or jerky. It seemed to be a mix of a slow dance and a waltz.
Abby let her lead as she started to find some familiarity with the rhythm and the steps. She kept her eyes on Nyt to avoid getting dizzy, though her steps grew a bit more confident.
When Abby began to get ahold of it, Nyt sped up to normal speed. She could tell Abby was getting a bit dizzy, so she did try to slow down on the circular movement.
"Are you doing alright, Abby?" She asked quietly.
Abby nodded. ”Yeah. I’m fine.” she smiled, able to keep up with the dance. ”It’s a little trick. If you keep your eyes on your dance partner, you don't notice the rest of the room moving.” she explained. ”I always had a hard time believing it worked before but I think it's working now.”
Nyt chuckled softly. "I'll take your word for it." She said as she slowed down once the song ended. "Though I could understand it. It's easy to get lost in your eyes." She said with a soft smile.
Abby ducked her head as she blushed bright red though she was smiling as well. ”Nyt…” she scolded softly. Sylvian's may not have a problem with same-sex relationships but she wasn't sure how anyone else would react to an interspecies relation that went beyond friends.
"What?" Nyt whispered with a teasing smirk. "Am I wrong? I'm not." She leaned down to Abby's height. "Your eyes are absolutly breath taking."
She giggled softly at the compliment. ”I like your eyes better.” she told Nyt just above a whisper, smirking slightly.
