"Think of it like replacing you arm." Ava tried to explain. "It's going to be uncomfortable for a while and hard to control at first. Not to mention if it's a main peice of them and it's starts to glitch out, they could loose control of their body. Does that make sense?" She asked, making sure she wasn't just babbling.
Abby nodded. ”So, it is like surgery for them.” she commented, rubbing her shoulder subconsciously. ”I can kind of understand that. I broke my arm once and had to wear a cast for almost a month so it could heal right. The worst part was I couldn't use that arm for anything.” she stretched her arm, showing the full recovery. ”A little discomfort and I’m back to normal. And I'm not going to start on things like open heart or brain surgery.”
Ava nodded. "You can understand why they don't want to but it still needs to be done here and there." She explained.
"But Eve doesn't need that!" Bates wined.
”Yeah, if I hadn't had that cast, I would've lost any ability to use my arm.” Abby agreed. ”I don't know if you two can feel pain but you don't want to wait until something actually breaks down to the point you can't use it anymore or even causes permanent damage.” she explained.
"Still doesn't mean we have to like it. We understand the purpose but we like to wait as long as possible till we have to do it again." Max said as he flopped down on the couch.
Ava sighed. "That's because Eve doesn't have a body yet." She explained.
Abby chuckled, shaking her head. ”No. You don't have to like it,” she agreed. ”and I'm not going to claim to know much of anything about robotics but waiting too long can cause a lot of problems.” she pressed before smirking. ”I never thought I would meet a couple of procrastinating robots.”
Max laughed. "Yeah. I can relate with that."
"And I never thought I would be meeting a human, yet here we are." Ava said with a shrug.
Abby laughed a little. ”You should have seen Adar’s expression when I first met him. You took meeting me better than he did. I'm honestly still expecting someone to pass out on seeing me.”
Ava laughed. "Well I have been saying that you guys were alive for years. And everyone here has listened to my rants, whether they wanted to go not." She said, smiling.
Abby smiled. ”I’m glad you gave everyone some warning.” she quipped. ”How did you and Zara met?”
Ava's ears flushed when she asked that.
Zara on the other started laughing. "I met Ava when Max ran off." She explained.
Max folded his arms. "That wasn't my fault!"
Abby raised a brow and leaned forward. ”Was he running away from an upgrade? I would love to hear this story. Please.”
Zara chuckled. "Ava had replaced a core hard drive and it had glitched out, causing him to run off. I'm a junkie and I found Max in the dumps, out of power. I was gonna resell his parts when Ava came in." She explained.
Abby’s eyes widened in surprise. ”Yikes! That would scare me away from upgrades for a while too.” she admitted sympathetically. ”So, that would make you kind of like a scavenger?” she asked Zara, glad they seem to have something in common.
Zara folded her arms. ”Never heard it used like that but sure! Most people just call me a junkie.” She said.
Abby shrugged. ”That’s just we call it. And how I met Nyt.” she explained. ”Sometimes it’s still hard to believe that I’m a semi unofficial Ambassador.”
Ava laughed. "Well it is a big transition. Hiding from us then coming out to talk to us? But you have people helping you! It'll be fine!" She reassured her.
”Yeah. It was a bit awkward.” Abby nodded with a light blush. ”But I’m glad I have them.” she smiled.
Ava smiled at her before her watch started beeping. "Shoot I forgot!" She said standing up rapidly and running out of the room.
Abby smirked. ”What did she forget?” she asked Zara. Something tells me that is a normal occurrence.
Zara shrugged. ”It could be anything from needing to do something to Eve to she left something in the oven. Ava is about as unpredictable as Max with a new hard drive.” She said with a smile.
Max looked like he wanted to smack the smile off her face but held back.
Abby laughed at the joke and Max’s grumpy expression. ”Like mother, like son huh?” she teased. ”I wonder if any of those upgrades would include a sense of humor for Max.”
Max cringed at Abby using the term ’mother’ for Ava but didn’t say anything. ”I have a great sense of humor! I prefer not to use my humor around guests though.” He said, relaxing into the couch concussions.
Zara pointed at Max. ”Ava would remove your circuit board of you did that around guests.” She said.
”Well, now I'm curious. How bad is his humor?” Abby asked, though she was a bit hesitant to find out.
”He's got dirty humor that Ava doesn't like.” Bates said from her shoulder. He had kinda curled up there.
Max held up his arms. ”I'm sorry that I like stuff that doesn't involve wreaking something or injuring someone.” He said looking at Bates.
