Nyt chuckled and pulled her out into the hallways. Nobody bothered them much as they left other than a few odd looks.
Once they made it out they strolled out into the city. Most of the buildings were old human building with some Sylvian tech. Vegetation had grown around and between building but the Sylvan didn't seen to mind it. In fact there weren't even windows in some buildings and plants were freely growing inside them.
Abby was a combination of awed and confused as they walked down the street. The houses here were much nicer than what she was used to seeing in the camp but she was used to Nyt’s home, it was more the number of nice homes that was impressing her. ”Hey, Nyt? Why do some of these houses look abandoned?” she asked curiously.
Nyt raised an eyebrow. "They're not? What do you mean they look abandoned?" She asked. People were wanderin in and around all the plants like it was nothing.
”I mean that some of them don't have windows and have plants growing all over them.” Abby explained. ”Does nobody live in those?” She couldn't imagine anyone living in a place in that state of chaos.
"People still live there. Why wouldn't they?" She asked. To Nyt it was completely normal to live think this. In the city with no animals, people kept their home pretty open. They did have tech that when it started to rain, they could close up the houses.
Abby was pretty confused. ”Well, with the plants growing wild like that, they can cause serious damage to the building and put it at risk of collapsing, for one thing. Unless there's some kind of tech you use to keep it safe.” she explained.
Nyt shook her head. "Plants can actually help the building. They can hold it up and they produce oxygen, do they not? Why wouldn't they be in buildings? Did you not have plants like this?" She asked.
”They do make oxygen but I never heard of plants helping a building, mostly just causing a lot of problems if not outright destroying it after a while.” Abby admitted. ”We never had plants grow like this in houses. We had gardens outside and some people brought potted plants inside to care for.”
Nyt fell silent for a bit. "Huh! Thats why it looked like that when we came in." She said shrugging.
Abby shrugged. ”A lot of things probably got left behind like that in the panic and some plants are really resilient, it kinda makes sense that they would grow over everything.” she reasoned.
Nyt lead them on deeper into the city. The plants slowly disappeared and it seemed to transition into more Sylvian looking tech. Metals that had more of a blue or green tint than silver and tech that was everywhere. It was still built partially out of human buildings but instead of taking it down they simply built around it.
This would of been the bad part of town when only human lived here but now it was just the darker part of the city. Plants still did grown around but not as much as before.
The increase in technology was a bit more of what Abby had expected to see but it was still beyond amazing! Out of some reflex as they approached this part of town, Abby walked closer to Nyt despite trying to stay calm and nonchalant as they walked to Nyt’s friend's house. ”How much farther does she live?”
”No much farther. Actually…” Nyt slowed down as she reached a building. ”She lives in here.” She said before walking in.
The building seemed to bee like apartments. Nyt went in and headed down the left hallway. She walked for a good distance before stopping infront of a door.
”I hope this is still her door.” She murmured before knocking.
Abby was able to relax once they were inside the building, a friendly smile coming easily now. She checked herself over one more time as Nyt knocked, making sure she would make a good impression. Since she became the human ”Ambassador” she felt a new pressure that came with the job to represent everyone in her camp… even if she was meeting someone as a friend.
Another Sylvian answered the door. It was feminine looking and had red eyes. She was shorter than Nyt but looking like she made up for it in muscle. She smirked when she saw the two.
”Nyt! Its good to see you!” She said as her tail outstretched. Nyts tail came forward as well and wrapped around hers.
”Its good to see you too, Zara.” She said as both their tail drew back.
”Ava is tinkering with Bates. Come on in!” Zara said as she moved out of the way so they could come in. ”What your name?” She asked Abby.
Abby watched this different form of greeting with interest, wondering if that was the normal ”handshake” for Slyvians. ”I’m Abby. I’m a friend of Nyt’s” She said politely. ”It’s nice to meet you.”
Zara smiled back. "I'm Zara! Ava's girlfriend." She said before cupping her hand around her mouth. "Ava! They're here!"
A loud crash came from the back along with some skittering. "Bates get back here! I'm not done with you yet!" A voice yelled.
A silver robot that look similar to a spider ran into the room and up the wall. "No!" It yelling in a high pitched voice.
Abby raised a brow at the excitement as they walked in and was surprised at the appearance of the little spider robot. ”What is that?” she laughed in awe as it spoke.
Zara laughed. "That's Bates. Our trouble maker." She said looking up at him.
Bates scurried so he was above Zara before dropping down onto her
More clattering came from the other room before another female appered. She was quite a bit shorter than both Zara and Nyt, probably only a few inches taller than Abby. She was wearing a white coat and it along with her hair was disheveled. She had green eyes and was glaring at the little robot. "Bates! I need to finish your calabrations! You can't just walk…around…unfinished." She said, trailing off as she saw Abby.
Abby giggled as Bates perched on Zara. ”He’s amazing! Normally, I don't like spiders but he's very impressive.” she smiled and gave a small wave as the other Slyvian noticed her. Bigfoot in the living room. ”Hi. I’m Abby.”
Ava blinked a few times before rubbing her eyes. Once she confirmed that she was real a smile lit up her face. She made her was over to her quickly as she straightened herself out. "Hello! It's so nice to meet you! I'm Ava." She said before sticking out her hand, almost looking awkward as she did it. "I'm really sorry about that!"
Abby smiled kindly and accepted the handshake. ”It’s alright, Ava. It's very nice to meet you too.”
Ava smiled. "I've heard a lot about you!" She said.
Zara laughed. "You should of seen the look on her face when they announced humans were still alive."
Avas ears turned slightly gray. "Zara!" She hissed.
Abby chuckled. ”I can imagine it was a surprise for everyone. But Nyt told me you already thought that we were. I bet it was nice to be right about that.”
Ava nodded. "It was. I've read quite a bit of human books and documents. I didn't that humn would die off that easily. Your race is very resiliant!" She said.
Bates skittered off Zara and on to Abby. He looked over her, as if he was evaluating her.
