”You’re all welcome to stay as long as you want.” Toby assured, referring to Adar and Caleb as well.
”Uncle Toby, I don't want to bother you.” Abby argued. ”If it's alright with everyone else, I was thinking we can go back to Nyt’s home. It's a neutral ground, and a safe distance from both the camp and the city.”
Nyt nodded. “We can stay as long as needed before we head back, how does that sound?“ She asked.
”Ok. We should probably only need to stay a few days then.” Abby agreed, much more awake. ”It wouldn't look good for peace if we left right now. And there's probably going to be a couple of public speeches from the council we’ll have to be at.” she groaned at the thought.
Toby nodded, ”They do love making a bigger deal out than necessary out of whatever kind of important ”news” they can get. And this is already pretty big.”
Nyt nodded. It was kinda weird to have people watching her ever move but thats what would have to happen for a bit. “Are Adar and Caleb up?“ She asked.
”Not when I checked on them earlier.” Toby shook his head. Apparently Adar is a deeper sleeper than you are Nyt.
”Let them sleep a bit longer.” Abby smirked. ”I don't want to disturb them just yet.”
Nyt nodded. It brought her mind back to why she was woken up in the first place. “What were you doing in here anyways?“ She asked.
”Hm? Oh, nothing. Just checking up on you both.” Toby said casually, acting perfectly innocent.
”Did he wake you up this morning, Nyt?” Abby asked a bit confused by what she meant.
Nyts ears twitched. “I woke up to a click sound.“ She said.
Abby raised a brow. She knew Nyt had sharp hearing but… ”A click. I’m sorry, I didn't hear anything. I do believe you. What kind of click did it sound like?”
Toby kept up the innocent act and headed to the food storage area in the house, getting some apples for everyone for breakfast.
“It was quick. It reminded me of a clicking of a pen.“ Nyt tried to explain.
Abby bit her lip briefly in thought, ”Well, Uncle Toby can be a bit of jokester at times, but… I don't think he would click a pen as a prank.”
”He was holding a rectangular object. I think that is what made the click.” Nyt suggested.
Abby turned slowly to look at Toby with a suspicious glare. ”Did this clicking rectangle have a glass circle facing us?”
”Oh $h!+.” Toby whispered softly under his breath.
"I think so." Nyt said, getting confused. "What was it?"
“Uncle Toby! You have a working camera!” Abby accused loudly, blushing brightly. ”and you took a picture of us while we were asleep? I can't believe you.”
”Calm down kiddo. Yes, I have a camera but I rarely use it.” Toby explained calmly. ”And if you had seen what I did, you would have too. Besides, I also got one of Caleb and Adar.”
Nyt blinked before laughing. "I need that picture then! Also how old is that camera? I couldn't even tell what it was." She asked.
Toby smiled, ”I don't know how old it is, exactly. Mike's scavenger party found it before Abby was born. He loved finding this kind of stuff. Worked on it for weeks to get it working again.” he ended with a soft sigh and a fond look on his face.
Abby wasn't mad anymore but her blush didn't fade. As she heard the explanation of the camera, she took a sudden interest in the floor.
(Sorry!)
Nyt saw Abby´s blush and poked it, to point it out to her.
Adar stirred in the other room. He didn't was to move because he was so comfy though. Thats when he realized he was curled around Caleb.
(It's ok)
Abby's blush darkened slightly but she managed to smile at the gesture. ”How do you do that to me?”
Nyt chuckled. ”How could I not?” She asked as she pulled her closer.
Adar looked up and down at Caleb before deciding to not move. He was still tired anyways.
Abby smirked, playfully rolling her eyes. ”That’s not what I… Oh, never mind.” her fingers twitched wanting to stroke Nyt’s ears but she settled for just wrapping her arms around her.
Nyt giggled and snuggled into Abby before realizing Toby was still in the room.
”Oh, don't mind me. I haven't seen Abby this open with anyone in years.” Toby assured with a smile. ”Just let me know when you want to eat.” he commented as he left to put the camera away and give them a bit more privacy.
Abby was still red-faced and smiling as she pulled back slightly so she could look up at Nyt.
Nyt looked down at her. ”Really?” She asked.
”I think he meant affectionate.” Abby smiled shyly. ”Aside from family I never really had many friends, except for the ones you met.” she admitted before laughing lightly. ”Sometimes I think I have less friends than Peter and you know what he's like.”
