”You’re only scary to people who don't know you.” Abby intervened, gently taking Nyt’s hand. ”I don't think I can be scared by you anymore.”

Toby untied a rope that kept the tarp door they used on their small home. The whole house was about the size of Nyt’s living room with tents hanging open in two areas to separate the bedrooms. ”Sorry, it's a bit of a mess.”

Nyt looked around. "No! It's fine! Don't worry about it." She said as she stepped in. "And why not? I can be scary!" She said, laughing.

Caleb laughed. "Not anymore! Not after how you introduced yourself to me." He joked as he stepped inside the tent.

”It’s true. You’d have to try very hard to actually scare us now that we know how much of a sweet kitten you are.” Abby teased. ”You’d never hurt us.”

Toby raised a brow at his goddaughter’s choice of a nickname, but nodded. ”Besides, your eyes give you away. You don't have the eyes of someone who would hurt another for no reason. Neither of ya.”

”It’s an old saying that I agree with, ’The eyes are the windows to the soul’. When Abby introduced us I noticed that you both are good people.” Toby explained.

”I guess I should have looked a little closer when you found me.” Abby muttered.

Nyt looked partially confused. "That's never something I thought about. How could you tell if I was a bad person?" She asked, curious.

Adar thought about how his eyes look. Did he look good? How?

Toby gave a small hum as he thought of how to explain. ”I think it has something to do with how you feel when you make eye contact. A gut instinct. Like if you look at the eyes of someone who is kind-hearted you’d feel safe inside, able to trust them. Whereas if you met someone with cold harsh eyes, you’d know to stay away from them.”

Nyt went silent as she thought about that.

Caleb chuckled. "Don't worry about it! Toby loves to say things that might not make sense to you." He explained. "Old human saying."

Abby nodded, having heard a lot of old sayings like that from her uncle. “Anyway, who’s hungry? Uncle Toby always has some fresh grown food around.” she offered going over to the area where they kept their supply of food. ”Sorry to say we don't have any batter buns or Dun’s. But it looks like we got some apples left.”

Toby chuckled, ”One of the benefits of being a voice on the council.”

Nyt nodded. "I'm fine!" She said. She was slightly tired and over whelmed but other than that she was looking and feeling fine.

Adar nodded as well. "I bit tired maybe but other than that I'm fine." He admitted.

@Shadow_Knight group

Adar waved his hands. ”No, I'm not that kind of tired. Just mentally." He said, refusing to accept the fact that he was truly tired.

Nyt chuckled. ”We both know you are Adar.” She commented.

@Shadow_Knight group

Nyt did nod a bit. “True. Maybe I am a little.“ She said as she ran her fingers through her hair.

Adar nodded as he stretched a bit. “You have a nice home, Mr. Toby.“ He said as he looked around.

Toby laughed, ”Please, just call me Toby. The only time I ever answer to ’Mr.’ or ’sir’ is when I have to actually sit in on council meeting.”

”And he’s very uncomfortable when that happens.” Abby agreed, carrying four extra blankets. ”Caleb, heads up!” she warned playfully tossing one to him.

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb failed to catch it and it hit him square in the face. He almost fell back but Adar caught him in almost a french dip.

Nyt laughed when this happened. “Go Adar!“ She teased.

Oh my gosh. If they actually kiss right now, I am going to die laughing. Abby snickered to herself despite a light churning in her stomach. It had nothing to do with Caleb or Adar… She wasn't sick so she had no idea what was causing it and decided to ignore it.
