"Sorry honey, I don't drink. I like to stay sober. And I ask that because you seem…different. Have you worked with any crime before?" She said playing with a coin. Night giggled and whispered something in Nykidia's ear to which she promptly turned red too.
Lyra brushed a tendril of hair of her shoulder, flat blue eyes staring up at the ceiling. Her lips were twisted in a wry smile. "Why come to a bar if you don't drink?" She knew, of course. This wasn't a place for drinking, it was a place for trading information. Not that she let on that she knew.
"I think you know that, sweetheart." She said covering her red face. "I need some information on how well the other Mobs business is doing." She said looking around.
Lyra raised an eyebrow. "That's a pretty tall order, Sis. Do you have anyone in mind, or should I just give you the basic rundown?" She grabbed some different non-alcoholic drinks, mixing up a mocktail so she could do something with her hands. And have something to drink later. This place was boring when it was empty.
"I need to know about the Mob that is lead by Ryan Nitti." She said sliding over some money "And what he knows about us."
Lyra took the money, glee shining in her eyes. Even though she'd had some experience here, she was still pleasantly surprised by all the money she made. New shoes here she came. She thought up what she knew about Ryan. "He's new to the scene, but his family's growing at an incredible rate. Took down Niccola Parenna last week in a bloody turf battle. Most of the upper city police force has been paid off. He's planning to take down some other well-established families in the next months. Has a couple rats in yours but not enough info to take you down."
Nykidia and Night looked at each other and nodded in unison. "And do you know who these rats are?" Nykidia asked bringing up more money. "Also what does he work with? Ya know Illegal stuff."
Lyra tutted her tongue, shaking her finger at the adopted siblings. "Can't give specific, sorry. You know how it is, we have too many people going here to give away everything. I can tell you what he's working in, though. It's mostly illegal magic enhancing drugs- Link, Stardust, the usual shit- but he's branching into illegal arms and a couple streetfighting rings." She finished up with her mocktail and poured it into her cup with a languid flick of her wrist.
"Heh I didn't think that would work but it was worth a 'shot'. Heh" She said. "So how long you been working here?"
"Oh, you know," She waved her wrist flippantly in explanation, taking a sip of her drink. Tasty! She had to remember that for later. "How long have you been coming here? I don't think I've seen you around while I've been working."
"Hmm it's been a month or two but not too long, I guess." She said thinking to her self out loud. Night leaned on to the bar eyeing Lyra. She had a mischievous grin on her face.
Lyra tilted her head questioningly. "Why're you looking at me like that?" Patrons were usually angry old men who stared grumpily at her boobs as they asked for information. She was already feeling a little out of her depth and that look wasn't giving her any familiar ground to stand on.
Night chuckled. "Your interesting." She said tilting her head to the side. "So much spark in you yet you are just as we are." she said leaning very close to Lyra. "Is it just for the money or are you here for some other reason?" She said as she leaned even closer so that there faces were almost touching.
Lyra glanced towards the ceiling, glad that her flat eyes made it look like she was still staring the girl in the eyes. It made lying a hell of a lot easier. "Both I guess." Did this count as personal information? She sure hoped not. This job was fucking amazing and she'd hate to lose it. "Why is your face so close to my face? Is this really necessary?"
"Night, back off." Nykidia said looking at her. "Come on Nykidia, I was just getting to the fun bit." Night said turning to her with a playful look on her face. "I said back off Night before you get us kicked out." "Uuuggg you ruin all the fun." She said backing up and warping her self around Nykidia. "Sorry about that. She gets curious. Sorry What was your name again?"
"Lyra. What're yours?" She took another sip of her drink, relieved that she wasn't breathing another person's air anymore. No matter how kind the patrons seemed, they always had ulterior motives. It was best not to let them get too close, physically or mentally. It was just safer that way.
"Nykidia and my sib here is Night." she said pointing at the thing wrapped around her. "We don't worry about giving out our names" Night taunted. "Do you?" "Night, stop."
"It's nice to meet you. Is there any other information you'd like?" She took another sip of her mocktail, wondering about the story behind these two. They seemed interesting. Obviously, they were mob children, but she couldn't quite place which mob. She shuffled names in her head. Ullo? Nah. Charmadine? Couldn't be. Maybe Mei-song? Birchrow?
"No," Night said looking ready to go because her source of entertainment gone. "Ummmthere might be one more thing I might want." Nykidia said rubbing here neck. "What are you going to…. Oohh" She said giggling.
"Hmm?" Lyra looked up in one smooth motion. "What're you talking about?" She kept running families over in her head, but she couldn't find any that fit. Whatever. She could just look it up later in the archives. She needed to brush up on the latest information on political scandals anyways. She'd heard whispers of some celebrity or another sleeping with the prime minister and she was interested.
"Uuuumm C-Could I have your number?" She stuttered. (Is ship ok? if not than I won't.)
(Ship is fine! I was actually wondering about how a dating dynamic would play out)
Lyra huffed out a laugh, grabbing a napkin from one of the nearby containers. She patted her pockets before realizing that she didn't have anything to write with. "Got a pen?" She tucked a piece of teal hair out of her face and reached out her hand. Nykidia seemed interesting enough and Lyra hadn't properly dated in ages.
"Umm sorry. I don't." She said patting her pockets. "Here I'll come back tomorrow, kay? Bye" She said getting up and leaving. Night was taunting Nykidia on the way out the door. (I'm going to bed Goodnight!)
(Night!)
Lyra waved as the patrons walked out the door. What an interesting pair. This would be something she'd love to see play out. "Bye! Have a nice day."
After the girls were gone, she went back to humming along to the soft magic and washing cups. The bar sank back into near silence as it awaited the next customers.
Avery entered the room, his cold eyes surveying his surroundings. He had wanted information on a certain pair that had been plaguing Robin's gang, he supposed he had to do this favor for him.
