She grinned, accepting of her death "Oh I am. Just like you paint the picture of us to be. Mad and evil, hellbent on killing, no love or compassion for those around us." She scooted back, trying to get as far away from the guard as possible with her injured side
He made sure his face was hidden before stepping out, “Gentlemen.”
The guard spun around "you again? wow, you either live around here or were following the girl."
“Perhaps you’d like to stop making such a racket? It’s rather distracting.” He ignored what the guard had said
"Oh, don't worry. Killing the monster will silence the distraction for centuries." He turned back to the girl, only to find her gone, a trail of blood leading into the darker parts of the forest
“Why don’t you get back to work in your own town, and leave these woods alone?”
He spoke nonchalantly, looking at his hand
"the woods are part of the territory, the girl is not. We eliminate unwanted things from the territory to keep it safe." The guard said "we also eliminate those who try to protect unwanted things."
“You’d have good luck doing that, the people wouldn’t be impressed.” He flexed his fingers, “I’ve protected this town multiple times”
"Really, you would have been an amazing Hunter than. Why did you not offer your skills when we needed to eliminate these monsters?" The guard turned to him, knowing the girl wouldn't get far with her injury
“Because, unlike you, I have morals.” His hand caught alight, “Now, I suggest you leave now or I’ll be forced to make you.”
"Right, like last time?" The guard shook his head, the rest of the guards behind him snickered "Get out of the way."
He simply raised an eyebrow, watching flames writhe in his hand.
"THe boy has magic…" on of the guards whispered in shock
"Good, we get the fae and a wizard."
"That would be incorrect. I strongly suggest that you leave before the situation escalates."
"yeah right." The guard raised his sword, ready to fight
He raised his other hand, which ignited almost immediately.
The guards stood there ground, preparing for anything "you'll regret this."
“No, I won’t. There’s not much I regret.”
"This will be one of the few. Sacrificing your life for a Fae." The guard lunged at him, along with his group of men behind him, swords slashing at the boy with the fire
“Sacrificing? I think you’ve got the wrong idea, gentlemen.” He casually waved his hand, the flames encircling each guard
The guards stood still, careful not to touch the flame. "THis won't stop us."
He shrugged, watching the flames, “I can make them hotter, if you’d like.”
Some of the guards whispered their please, some coughing on the smoke that was rising around them "you wouldn't…"
“You have no clue what I would or wouldn’t do.”
"and all for a Fae who would've killed you anyways." The guard concluded "you'd risk your life and the lives of others for that?"
