She eventually made her way back to the river from before. Night time had fallen by the time she reached her hideout in the side of a cliff. She dropped off the little food she had returned with and started a feeble fire for warmth
He looked around before taking off his cloak
She crowded around the fire to stay warm
He lit a fire in the corner, running a hand through his hair.
She took out her hidden knife and started to sharpen it on a sharp rock she had found in the cave
He let out a small sigh, glancing around the room.
Her head snapped up as she heard a noise in the far distance. "Thought you wern't following me?" she taunted thinking it was the boy from before.
"we were." The familiar voice of the guard from before said
He watched the fire gently crackling away in the fireplace.
She stood in a swiftful movent and aimed her knife at the door "think I'm scared?"
"Yes."
He looked out of the window
"then you are sorely mistaken." She lunged at the guards
He stared out into the snow which blanketed the area.
There were more than she had originally thought and was forced to retreat back farther into the woods
He crouched beside the fire, gently poking it with a metal rod
She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, farther and farther into the forest, letting out a yell of agony as a sword carved into her side and stuck itself into the snow, staining it crimson
He faintly heard, standing quickly and glancing outside.
She slumped to her side and shoved herself away from the guards, pressing her injury with her hand "damn itβ¦"
His eyebrows furrowed and he picked up his cloak
"you really thought you and the boy would leave alive?" The guard taunted
"You really thought you could kill a Fae with an Iron sword?" She retorted
He flicked up his hood before going outside, looking for the source of the sound
"I know it doesn't kill your kind, but it works as good as any weapon." The guard leaned in close
She flinched away, snapping her teeth at him
It began to snow again. He struggled to search for the source of the pained noise as his sight was limited
She glanced up at the snow drifting down, smiling through the pain "Cover me in a blanket." She muttered
"Now you're going nuts," The guard smirked, dragging his sword through the snow, leaving a trail
He eventually got closer to the girl and the guards, squinting.
