"Then off we go, on our adventure." She said with a small laugh, leading him out the door. She was looking forward to it, oddly enough.
"Then off we go, on our adventure." She said with a small laugh, leading him out the door. She was looking forward to it, oddly enough.
He chuckled. "I suppose it is an adventure for you." He listened to his sister's silent commands floating into his head, leading Lily through the halls clear of any potential witnesses. He also explained to her the different rooms in the halls.
She listened intently as Wolf explained everything, making a mental map in her head as they went. She studied the walls, the architecture and decorating, slightly amazed at the elegance of it all. This time, her nose wasn't buried in a book, so she was finally getting a chance to look around.
He sighed and finally asked Lily something that's been on his mind since Cinthia told him about her. "Tell me the truth, Lily," he said, looking at her, "Are you actually interested in Rhydar, or are you just here because our mother called you?"
She stilled, the question obviously catching her off guard as her fiddling with her sleeves stopped. She was quiet for a few moments, easy to pass off as hesitance to tell the truth. "Honestly? I'm mostly here because your mother called me." The lie formed easily, as she glanced over at him, rubbing the back of her neck. "But I figure, since I'm here, I'll get to know him and…just kind of see. The two interactions I've had with him already haven't been horrible, and from what Cinthia says, he seems like he's a good guy."
Wolf was quiet for some time as he turned over her words. Something seemed…off…with her words, but he put it off for the time being. "Hmm," was all he could come up with. "I guess it's just all up to you to figure out what you want to do here–and with him."
((Okay okay, I got two options for the why of trying to kill him. Wanna hear?))
Lily nodded, her slightly panicked thoughts coming to a standstill. "Decisions when you don't know what to do are the worst. Hopefully, I'll have enough time to figuring things out."
((yes please))
He laughed slightly and led her down another hall. Once again, it was empty. "Indeed they are. At least you have time to come up with a decision, and not have to come up with one on the fly and stick to it."
"I lied. That's the worst, right there." She said, shaking her head. "And yet, the number of times I've had to do it continues to go up."
((Alright. One involves her backstory, somewhat, but it's like shittily tied and I have issues. Basically, since I'm trying to keep that a fun secret till later, it would be sort of a way to get revenge, not for herself, but for other people, and put an end to [REDACTED]. The second way is smoother, and it's basically she's under the control of someone who wants to take the throne themself. They've got something over her, like the location of one of her family members or something.))
((Hmmm, I like the mystery of the first one, but I also like the simplicity of the second one. Gah, decisions!))
He snorted. "Try being a royal in a political debate, when old men are firing off questions to try and stump us young people with a topic we aren't familiar with." He laughed slightly. "It's fun to see Cin bring up foreign politics."
((Y'know, I might be able to tie them in to each other in a way…))
"I'm sure. She seems like exactly the type of person to rip a man to shreds with a sharp tongue." She said, huffing a small laugh as she shook her head.
((Ooo, sounds fun))
"Tongue or blade," he agreed with a short laugh. "Never underestimate Cinthia, she knows the best ways to get a crowd on her side and her enemies on their knees. Plans backing up plans, thoughts and tactics swirling through that wise mind of hers."
"She'd make an amazing ruler. Or lawyer." She mused, nodding. "I don't do confrontation too well, but I could see her thriving. Oh, do you have any fun stories about her showing up some asshole?"
((I'll go with that then!))
His eyes lit up. "Mm, yes. Lots. Even some kings and queens."
"If we've got time, you definitely should tell me." She said, shooting him a small smile.
"I'll make a list of the best stories and set up a story time sometime. Sound good to you?" He asked, smiling at her as well.
"That sounds great." She said, nodding. If I'm still around, of course.
"Great!" He led her down a hallway that ended at a door. Cinthia was standing by it, beckoning for Lily and Wolf.
Lily raised a hand in a wave, coming to a stop in front of Cinthia and raising an eyebrow. "Whats next?"
"We join the cooks, " they said in sync. Cinthia opened the door and slipped in. Wolf let go of Lily's hand and held the door open for her.
Lily shot him a smile, bowing at the waist before slipping in with a thank you. "Join the cooks?"
Cinthia ducked her head as a pan zipped past, nearly clocking her in the side of her head. Cooks scurried about, barely giving the three arrivals a second glance. The delicious aroma of what's to come for tonight's feast filled the bustling room.
Lily looked around, inhaling the scents as a wonderfilled smile grew on her face. While it was busy, and slightly daunting, it reminded her of days back when she was a kid, and her own kitchen. "Wow."
Wolf came up behind her to make sure the flying pots and pans and other assorted cookware didn't hit her. "Yeah, this hurricane is where Cin and I learned how to cook at a young age." One of the cooks unceremoniously grabbed Cinthia, making sure she only touched fabric, and had her help with cutting onions.
"It reminds me of my younger years." Lily said, a small thing, but quite big coming from her. She turned to look at Wolf, raising an eyebrow. "We're here to help, right?"
