Yama sniffed the air.
"Smoke?!" He stomped his left foot onto the floor and closed his eyes, feeling the vibrations in the ground around him. There were a few people off to the side waving something out of their face, but nothing seemed to be breaking down or disappearing, so it couldn't be fire. Pushing his Seismic Sense outside of the bar, he noticed a girl dusting herself off in a nearby alleyway.
He turned to Romeo, saying "We might have someone else after this treasure as well. Should we investigate?"
Romeo shook his head. "No need, she's with me." Romeo poked his head into the alleyway and waved, then turned back to Yama. "I hope you're not frightened by magic too easily, because our enemy can use quite a bit of it."
"Frightened? By magic?" Yama chuckled. "Friend, where I come from, I would be strung up on the nearest tree if people found out I had magic. I'm certainly lucky that other countries can be so open to my gifts."
The Half-Dragon poked his head out to see Aza in the alley. He waved and turned back into the bar, his wings brushing up against the doorway.
Aza rolled her eyes at the Half-Dragon and leaned against the wall. If the boy named Yama was in the group, she'd have his head pretty soon.
Romeo nodded. "Sounds like a cruel country, no offense. Where I come from- err, I was really the only one of my kind, but where I come from, everyone used magic. Anyways, we have to get some sleep. We'll all meet back here tomorrow morning, is that good?" Romeo asked.
"Understood." He gave a small wave and went outside. From both Aza and Romeo's viewpoint, it looked as though he stepped outside and vanished into the ground. In fact, Yama had created a small room where he could set out a blanket and flop onto the ground for the night. He found it to be much more comfortable than a tavern bed, and there was less of a chance of him being puked on by drunk patrons.
Romeo watched Yama vanish. "Okay, then." He muttered and leaped up, onto the roof. Romeo lied down and fell asleep instantly.
Aza carefully, quietly swung herself up to crouch beside Romeo. He was fascinating. Deza perched on her shoulder, letting out soft caws and puffing smoke. "Dezaleria. Shut up," Aza hissed. "You're gonna wake him up."
Romeo stirred in his sleep, but remained asleep.
Aza yelped, thinking he was asleep. Deza reacted and began flapping her wings, setting Aza off-balance. She toppled forward, crashing onto Romeo.
The movement caused them both to go rolling off the roof, landing on the dirt road next to the tavern. Romeo opened his eyes and looked around wildly. "Aza? What happened? Are you alright?" Romeo stood up, reaching down to help Aza.
"Yes, I'm perfectly fine," she retorted haughtily, ignoring Romeo's hand. She dusted herself off and dragged a hand through her hair. Her eyes changed to light pink, indicating embarrassment. She forced them back to a neutral grey and glanced at Romeo, hoping he hadn't noticed. "When are we going to go kill the Queen? It's best to do it at dawn."
Romeo noticed her eyes switch color, but didn't know what it meant. "Yes, dawn was the plan. Uh, do you know what happened? Did I just fall off the roof and land on you?" Romeo asks.
"Possibly, Yes. Yes, you did." Her eyes flashed a deeper pink, her embarrassment growing.
Romeo nodded, and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Sorry, then, Aza. Whatever, though it's almost dawn. We should hit the road. Uh, figuratively, this time." He says and smiles. "I'll get Yama, be right back. Nice eyes, though." Romeo walked over to the spot he saw Yama disappear into. "Hey, Yama? We're getting going now, if you're up yet."
"Nice eyes. Nice eyes," Aza repeated under her breath. "He noticed. He noticed."
Romeo hoped Yama was awake and looked around at the market stalls. He walked up to the closest one and shoved some produce in his bag, in front of the lady watching him. "Excuse me, you need to pay for that." She says, angrily. Romeo looked in her eyes, and said. "No, I don't, remember?" The lady nods, as if she forgot before. "Oh, yeah. Go ahead sir." Romeo smiled. "Thanks!" He finished up, and walked back over to Aza. "Breakfast?"
"Why didn't you just kill her?" Aza asked bluntly.
Romeo shrugged. "I didn't want to make a big fuss. It's easier this way. And if we're ever here again, we'll have more food to steal."
Yama didn't actually hear his name being called. He did, however, feel Romeo above his little hideout. He got up, packed up the blanket, and rocketed upwards in a cloud of dirt and stone.
"Yes, I am here! What are your other two wishes?" Yama called in a powerful stage-voice, posing like a superhero with his fists at his sides.
"That's really stupid, Yama," Aza said disdainfully.
He huffed. "Well, I didn't ask you. Anyways, why is it that all of these fancy, uber-important missions have to start at dawn? Aren't their ones that can start at, like, eight in the morning? At least give me time to polish up."
"Well, I'm giving my opinion. And the Queen is at her weakest at dawn."
"Understood." He reached out his right hand towards the ground but looked towards both of them. "I'm assuming you're both well-armed? I just want to make sure before I unload my wares."
"If you count a withering glare as well-armed, then yes, I'd suppose so." Aza pulled a dagger out of her sleeve.
