(oh im so sorry, i must have missed that. you can ignore my post if you want)
Lainey's gaze landed on one of the boys, her mouth twitching into a smirk. He seemed to fit the mental criteria that she had. She wondered if she should use her powers just enough to make him turn his head and notice her, but that could potentially lead a fight. Though based on the number of heroes, Lainey realized she would probably have to step in anyway. She didn't seem to realize that she had been staring at him for a few moments too long.
Rocco stood near the bank’s door, clearly in some sort of distress- his heart was pounding in his throat and his head swam with noise, but he was trying to psych himself up and be able to fight. He stood oddly, almost as if he had someone behind him with their hands latched onto his shoulders.
After a moment, Lainey sighed. She glanced around, realizing that she had been staring, though nothing had happened. Well, if nothing happened, then she would just have to make it happen. For a few moments, she debated internally whether to walk over to where the heroes were or stay where she was and have at least a few more moments of peace. Who was she kidding? She was curious. She moved quickly and gracefully, almost like a panther, trying to sneak up on the kid. The only way she could possibly take out someone who may have offensive powers was by surprise, so she went the long way around. She hid one of her knives and went for a pressure point in the neck, trying to knock him out before he could do anything.
Luckily enough for Rocco, his powers were exclusively defensive. He tensed up like a prey animal, his eyes seemingly rolling back in his head for a split second before he bolted back to reality. He whipped around to meet Lainey’s eyes, mere seconds before she could have hit a pressure point. He took a tentative step back, left hand drifting to his pocket.
Lainey raised an eyebrow. Okay then. She pointed her knife at him, a feral smile on her lips. "Nice trick, hero boy," she purred, her mask warping her voice just enough to make it practically unrecognizable. Since her powers didn't usually help much during a fight, she relied on her own skills and technology to do the job. She feinted like she was going to use the knife, but at the last moment went to kick him in the chin.
Harley grabbed a crowbar and started hitting Batman until he fell to the ground. Joker gasped for air and looked at Batman who was coughing blood. “Ouch, that’s going to leave a bruise.” Joker commented with a smile.
“You demented clown. You’ll pay for everything you’ve done.” Batman said, still coughing blood.
“And how’s that? The only way to do that is by killing me, and you don’t kill, Bats.”
Batman growled and pounced at him, knocking him down.
Naomi smiled slightly and punched Callie on the shoulder before taking a couple of steps back. She wanted to see how she would react. It would be hilarious if the girl started freaking out.
“Uh, thanks-“ Rocco started, although is words were clipped short. Rocco fell back on the kick, swearing sharply under his breath. The air was knocked out of his lungs on impact with the ground, leaving the boy gasping slightly for air. He backed up a bit, giving himself enough room to safely bring himself back up to his feet.
Lainey laughed. “Did I catch you by surprise? That’s too bad,” she mocked, twirling her knife around. She didn’t want to do anything to hurt him too badly, because she was sure that he was the right choice for her plan. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a little fun first. She put her knife away, rushing forward to give the boy a one-two punch.
Rocco barely dodged the first punch was was hit squarely by the second. He gritted his teeth and punched Lainey back the best that he could, aiming for her sternum. He could be heard grumbling quietly every so often, almost as if he were talking to somebody.
Lainey stumbled back slightly, trying to make it look intentional. His punching could use some work, but it still hurt. She tried for another kick, this time to his stomach.
Callie grabbed her shoulder, scanning around. "Someone just punched me," She said, more to herself. She stomped her foot, sending out a five meter shockwave of electricity. It wasn't big enough to hit any of the others, but hopefully big enough to hit whoever hit her.
“God-“ Rocco stumbled back again, eyes darting behind him frantically. He coughed for air, the dull pain of the kick setting in.
This was easier than Lainey had been expecting. Hmm. The boy was scared or something, and Lainey actually felt bad for him for a few moments. She shook it off. She couldn’t feel bad for a hero. Her stupid empathy was making her weak, like it always did. She just stood there, feeling the rampant emotions of the others and trying to work her way back to cool silver confidence or even red hot anger.
Rocco’s hand shook as he dug in his pocket, pulling out a small butterfly knife. He kept it on his person for self protection at night, and luckily he never had to use it. Unluckily, though, that meant he didn’t really know how. His hands shook as he stared at Lainey, brandishing the small knife with shaking hands.
Lainey glanced down at the knife, jolting out of her brief reverie. She raised an eyebrow imperiously, putting a hand on her hip. “Do you even know how to use that knife?” she sighed. “Because two can play at that game, but I don’t think it’s a game you want to play.”
“No, I don’t-! Do I look like the type of person that knows how to use a knife?” Rocco most certainly did not. Actually, he looked more like an abandoned puppy on the side of the road. A child could probably use the knife better than he could. “I’m just trying not to die.”
Lainey almost laughed. How cute, he thinks I’m going to kill him, she thought. “Mhmm,” she mumbled. She pulled her own knife out of her shoe again. “Well then, Mr.Can’t-Use-a-Knife, let’s dance.” She took a step towards him, knife at the ready.
Rocco tried to steady his hands, his posture once again in that odd position. “Oh, god, I’m gonna get killed.” He muttered softly, taking a matching step back. If my clairvoyance could kick in right about now, that’d be really cool!
This was definitely a bad idea, so I’m just going to knock him out and then move on to the next guy, Lainey thought. She feinted like she was going to go for his chest with the knife, but used her other hand to try to punch his jaw. That was supposed to knock someone out.
Rocco collapsed to the floor with Lainey’s punch, smacking his head on the floor when he went down. He was definitely out cold, that was for certain.
Lainey breathed out a sigh of relief. Onto the next one. She turned to the other unfamiliar guy. “Want to be next?” she asked, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. Though in the back of her mind, she hoped that the other boy was okay. Obviously it was only because she was totally going to use him soon.
Naomi fell to the ground and grunted. Something sharp hit her head and in the panic, she turned visible once again. She rubbed her head and winced. She looked up at Callie and cursed under her breath.
While Batman was busy fighting Joker, Robin was busy fighting Harley. Harley constantly cartwheeled out of the way, making Robin fall on something sharp. Nightwing, on the other hand, had managed to handcuff Poison Ivy and now was fighting The Penguin.
Lainey glanced over and noticed that Poison Ivy was handcuffed. “Hold that thought,” she replied, rushing over to where Poison Ivy was and trying to get the cuffs off with her knife. She was honestly a bit wary of attempting to actually get the ket from Nightwing.
