“Yes, I think it will work.” She paused and then continued. “Well you can fake being one of those news reporters from metropolis, here to do an interview with Bruce Wayne, or with someone important. Or you can fake being a police officer, who has the information to something important.
Robin nodded and smiled. “Right, do it again, but this time, do it harder. If you have any anger inside of you, i need you to put it all in your punch. Do you understand?”
Nightwing rolled his eyes and sighed. “Right, well, start with a punch or a kick or whatever you want to start with. Since you’re a lady, I’ll let you start first, though I don’t normally do this.”
"Mistake. I might not be strong, but I'm fast. My speed becomes my strength." She took a step back and then forward, hitting Nightwing with about four tornado kicks in three seconds. "My preferred method of fighting is defense."
Nightwing grunted and suppressed a smile. “Nice, very nice. You can take bad guys down in just seconds, but speed is not everything. If you had an opponent with the same power as you, what would you do?”
"I know how to combat against people. My uncle taught me self defense. I know how to defend myself, speed or not. That will always be my strength. Not fighting, defense."
“That’s it! I could totally fake being a news reporter!” Lainey grinned. “We’d just need a camera and microphone. This is going to be perfect!” She filled another sack with money.
Nightwing sighed and shook his head. “Yes, but it’s also good to know where your opponents weak spots are.”
“I think I have a camera. . but a microphone might be a little harder to get.”
She grabbed a couple of more bags and smiled. “This robbery has gone well, maybe a bit to well.”
“Yeah, where are those good for nothing heroes?” Lainey asked, slight puzzled. “I thought they would’ve shown up by now. Oh well. This way we don’t even have to get our hands dirty. And with all of this money, I’m sure we can buy a microphone if we don’t have one. Obviously though it would be discreetly, in a way the heroes can’t track. I’m so excited!” She giggled, a devious glint in her eyes.
Rocco hit Robin again- a little harder. but it was clear that fighting definitely wasn’t a strong suit of his. “I’m telling you now, fighting and that kinda stuff? I suck. You won’t get any MMA-level hits from me.”
Callie suddenly spotted an alarm sign going of on the computer behind Batman. She ran up to it, temporarily abandoning her fight with Nightwing. "Hey Bats? How long has that been going off?"
“It’s fine. All I want to do is help you improve an-“ Robin was interrupted by the alarm.
“It just went off. . “ Batman said as he turned around, clicked some buttons, and the voice of Commissioner Gordon came out of some speaker from the computer. “Batman, there has been a robbery at the Bank Of Gotham City!”
From behind his mask, Batman frowned and bit his lip. “Just now?”
“Uh, no. They’ve been there for about fifteen minutes. We didn’t notice until now. .”
He sighed, mumbled something and told Commissioner Gordon that he was on his way. Robin and Nightwing both looked up at Batman. “So, field trip?”
Batman nodded and looked at Red Hood who sighed. Red Hood stood up and went to Robin. “Stay away from any crow bars, understood?”
Robin only nodded.
“This is boring; I was expecting something. . you know, kinda hard. If the super heroes don’t come, I guess I’ll have to kill some important people. Maybe then they’ll come.” Naomi said.
“Isn’t it easier for us if they don’t come?” Lainey asked, half joking. She shook her head slightly. “Though I suppose I do need to pick a victim for my incredibly clever plan soon.”
“Well, yes, but at the same time it does get boring when you don’t get an epic fight. But, anyways, we better finish emptying the bank before anyone finds out that a robbery has taken place.”
Batman sighed, grabbed the remote for the Batmobile and opened the back seats. “Alright, you three get in the backseats.” He paused and turned to Nightwing. “I want you to come with me, and I want you to take Robin with you. Meet me at Gotham Bank as fast as possible.”
“That’s probably a good idea,” Lainey agreed with a smirk and began to go load up another sack full. “We’re getting close though.”
“Yes, very close. Once we’re done, I literally want to buy so much stuff, but not to many, because then all the money will be gone. Hm, maybe I could buy a fancy house with the money I’ll get, because I’m one hundred percent sure that we’re going to split the money into thirds.” Naomi said with a slight grin and started to load another sack. From outside, Naomi heard Harley say something. She stopped doing what she was doing, but then realized whatever Harley said wasn’t important.
“I want to buy lots of clothes and makeup,” Lainey added. “And books. And a ukulele. Maybe I can pay my way through college with this! And naturally, get everything I need to fool those superlosers.”
Batman sighed, grabbed the remote for the Batmobile and opened the back seats. “Alright, you three get in the backseats.” He paused and turned to Nightwing. “I want you to come with me, and I want you to take Robin with you. Meet me at Gotham Bank as fast as possible.”
"I am not sitting in the middle," Callie said, climbing quickly into the car. She sat as far to the end as she could, leaving Rocco and Jay to decide who would sit in the middle.
“I’ll get in the middle, it’s fine.” Rocco gritted his teeth, sliding into the center seat. He attempted to steel himself for what was ahead, but he couldn’t deny the small nervous knot forming in his stomach. He drummed his fingers against his knees, seemingly zoning out.
Naomi laughed, shook her head and smiled. She grabbed the last few bags of money and loaded them into the car. She turned around and sighed when she saw that Harley and Joker were having a fight. Or conversation. She couldn’t tell the difference.
Robin and Nightwing left the cave first, and after everyone was in the Batmobile, Batman immediately left the cave as fast as possible. The darkness of the tunnels that they were going through made it quite hard to see, but he still managed to navigate through the tunnels. As the car left the tunnels, the sun started to set, making Batman smile. He really did better in the day than in the night. It didn't take him long to reach Gotham Bank, were the others were loading the last bags of money into one of the cars.
Lainey noticed the Batmobile arriving and cursed under her breath. “Well, I think you’re about to get that fight you wanted,” she added to Naomi, putting her hands on her hips. Good thing she’d brought weapons, since her powers didn’t exactly make her a great fighter.
“Wow, it’s been like. . what. . about two hours and they just appear out of nowhere? LAAAAME!” She quickly ran to Joker and Harley. “Do you know who’s here? No? Oh, it’s Batman.”
Harley looked at Joker and then hid behind him, making Joker sigh. “Guess we gotta take care of the bats first.”
Batman stopped the Batmobile, and left the car. As he got out, he saw a figure run to Joker and Harley. The figure stayed the for a couple seconds before returning back to the other figure. “What the hell is this?”
Lainey rolled her eyes. “Looks like it’s time to fight them, then,” she sighed, not really one to excited about that. “I’d make them scared, but I feel like I should have the manipulation for my plan. I don’t want them connecting two and two until we have all of their secrets.” As she spoke, Lainey got a knife from where it was inside of her boot. She took another from where it was strapped her to her thigh.
“Damn, you’re prepared, aren’t you?” Naomi said as she took out her own weapons. A knife, a dagger and a gun. She smiled and then put the gun away. “This will be fun, they’ll never know what hit them.” She smirked and turned invisible and quickly ran to where the heroes were.
Robin and Nightwing arrived, just in time to see Naomi turned invisible. Both heroes opened their mouth in shock and got off the motorcycle. “BATSSSS!” Robin hissed. Batman sighed and quickly walked over to Robin. “What is it, Robin?”
Robin sighed and told Batman that one of the of the bystanders had turned invisible.
“That’s not a bystander. . . They must be with him. . “
Both Robin and Nightwing looked at Batman confused. While Batman was talking to his little friends, Naomi had ran over to Callie. “Hello, dear victim.” Naomi said ever so quietly.
Lainey hung back for a moment, studying the heroes. Eenie, meenie, miney, moe. Which one would be her victim? She liked to strategize before running into battle, both literally and figuratively. She tossed her ponytail, holding the knives in a practiced grip near the cash. She would stay here and protect the stash while the others fought. She hated to get her hands dirty.
Batman pointed to the lanky male figure near Harley. Robin and Nightwing both whipped their heads to the direction to where Batman was pointing. They both gasped as they were horrified once they saw who it was. Robin remembered that Batman put Joker in Arkham about three weeks ago, and he didn’t understand how he was out of Arkham, and without the people of Arkham find out. They saw as Batman gracefully climbed a wall near him and ran on the rooftops, and then land gracefully on the ground behind Joker. Batman grabbed Joker’s neck and put him in a chokehold.
“Well, that’s a good way to make a clown mad.” Robin said to Nightwing.
Callie was surprised when someone came running up to her and whispered in her face. She didn't like being surprised, and she didn't like people in her face. She swore and punch the girl, her speed going into her punch. It was instinct, but it felt good doing it.
