"It is weird that Logan is still here, isn't it? Well, I don't see why he's not going to school, for even if he was in a state where he should not be going, he would still go. I mean, he'd find some way to go no matter how bad his health may be. I've overheard his teachers saying that maybe they should just ban him from coming if it got too bad, but I don't think they went through with it," Roman said.
Logan shot a pointed look at Roman and Virgil before getting up and leaving with his jelly. He went over to the couch and sat down, still eating his Crofters sulkily.
Patton followed him and was slightly concerned with the fact that he suddenly left. "Hey, Lo, are you okay? Why did you walk out?"
"They won't shut up about it… it's none of their business." Logan muttered, shoving another spoonful of Crofters into his mouth.
"They're just worried about you like I am, Lo… I understand that you request to have your privacy, though. I'll get them to stop bothering you, okay?" Patton said.
Logan nodded and continued quietly eating his jelly, drawing his knees up to his chest while he did so. Virgil looked over at Roman again, bewildered.
"If you ever need to talk about something, let me know!" Patton said, noticing that Logan appeared to be in a bad mood at the moment.
"I mean, it's the best explanation that I've got for this," Roman said.
Logan nodded again, remaining silent. "Patton?" Virgil called from the kitchen, sounding mildly worried.
"Yes, Virgil?" Patton called back from the living room before walking into the kitchen to talk to Virgil.
"Is he okay?" Virgil asked quietly, not wanting Logan to hear. "Lo would never willingly skip school."
"He… He should be fine…" Patton said, though he himself was slightly unsure as to if Logan would truly be okay.
"Did something happen? He's even more distant and grumpy than usual. I'm worried about him." Virgil said softly.
"No… Nothing happened, Virgil…" Patton said before deciding to rephrase that. "He just doesn't want to talk about anything, actually…"
Virgil sighed. "Alright… I suppose we'll never know, then. Logan is quite good at withholding information when he doesn't want to give it up."
"I know, Virgil…" Patton said before returning to the living room. "Lo… they really are worried about you… They all know that something's wrong… I'm not saying to tell them, but what do you want me to tell them so they know that you'll be okay?"
Logan sighed a bit and set down his empty jelly jar. "Just tell them the truth. I no longer care."
"Okay. I'll go tell them… Be back in a moment…" Patton said before returning to the kitchen. "So, Lo gave me permission to explain – though I only know since I kind of witnessed it– everything. Simply enough, at around two in the morning he passed out from exhaustion, and didn't wake up until recently. After talking to his teachers, I told him that they wanted him to stay here, and they truly did. That's why he's still here."
"Passed out?? Dammit, I knew he'd been overworking himself again… He needs to understand that he's a person, not a robot. He has limits. Taking a break will be good for him, even if he disagrees." Virgil looked over at the living room, running his fingers through his hair. At this point, Logan had passed out again on the couch, curled up into a loose ball.
"I know that he needs to understand that, I'm trying to get him to… I'm worried about him… He could literally end up working himself to death, and he might have if I didn't talk to his teachers earlier since I witnessed this, or have at least gotten closer to it… I'm glad that I got him to take a break, and…" Patton trailed off there when he saw Logan passed out on the couch, "… and he passed out again… It's worse than I thought…"
"Do you know how long it's been since he's slept?" Virgil asked. "I remember when I couldn't sleep at all for a week and I was experiencing similar symptoms to him. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's been studying through the night and not sleeping…"
"I assume that, too, Virgil… We need to make sure that he gets sleep at night to help get his sleep schedule back in order before anything else can happen… Virgil, do you have any ideas as to how we can help Logan out here, and how to actually get him to sleep at night?" Patton asked.
"Um… well, for me it was insomnia. Logan seems to have done this to himself on purpose. I don't think there's much to do other than to encourage him to start sleeping at night instead of studying. Clearly he's capable of sleeping; he just doesn't want to. Probably considers it a waste of his time. I don't think he'll listen to anyone but you, Pops. Hell, you convinced him to stay home from school! He's never done that before!"
"I'll do anything in my power to ensure that he is alive and well. I only got him to stay home because his teachers came to the agreement to just ban him from coming today after my explanation of what happened, but that's one thing I've gotten him to do to better his health! I just want him to be healthy, and I value his well-being. I am going to care for him and ensure that he gets enough sleep and doesn't overdo things again," Patton said.
Virgil nodded and clapped for Patton. "Congrats, pops. Now go get em'. Make sure that bastard is happy and healthy."
"I will always make sure of that from this point on! He is going to live a better life and he will be happy and healthy!" Patton said.
