Roman followed Virgil out of the room, and they went to school together, talking the entire time.
Virgil sighed reluctantly when they arrived. "Alright… I'll see you later, I guess."
"Talk to you later, Virgil. I hope that all of your classes go well," Roman said.
"You too." Virgil walked off and sat down in his class, immediately feeling anxious and lonely without Roman by his side.
(I got busy! Also, this happened in a Sanders Sides high school AU after someone insulted Crofter's:
"Logan! You can't punch another student just because they don't like Crofter's!! Do you want to get sent to detention or something like that?!" Virgil says.
This is what happens when you take me, my friend, and Sanders Sides.)
Roman then walked away to his own class, hoping that Virgil would make it through the day without any problems from the other students.
(I love it lol)
After only a few classes, Virgil had locked himself in a stall in the bathroom and did not intend to come back out for a while. Thankfully, the other students eventually got bored and left, but he still didn't feel safe enough to leave.
Are you busy right now?
He texted Roman with a sigh.
No, I'm not busy. Is everything okay, Virgil?
Roman was slightly concerned about the context of Virgil's text, wondering if something might be wrong or if some students decided that it would be a good idea to bother him for absolutely no reason like they do sometimes.
Would you mind coming to the bathroom by Mr. Lochland's room?
Virgil leaned back against the wall, starting to peel off his bandages and scratch at his wounds with his fingernails.
Roman didn't text back before immediately running in there, knowing that something is definitely wrong.
"Virgil?!" he called out once he got into the bathroom. "Are you okay in here?!"
"Um… y-yeah… I'm fantastic." Virgil's weak voice echoed against the cold concrete walls. He looked down at the fresh blood dripping from his arms. "I've found myself in a bit of a predicament, though."
"Virgil, what's going on? Are you actually okay in there? Were you scratching at your wounds again? I told you not to do that… If you were, please stop… Anyways, what happened? I'm here to help you out," Roman said.
"I'm sorry, Ro…" Virgil said softly, hesitating several seconds before dragging himself to his feet to unlock the door. "They won't leave me alone…"
"I know, Virgil… I'll get them to leave you alone somehow, I promise. They're not going to be bothering you for much longer… It'll all be okay soon enough," Roman said.
Virgil nodded and opened the door to pull Roman inside beside he sat himself back down, his knees drawn up to his chest and his face buried in his arms, which were crossed atop his knees. There were a few small drops of his blood on the floor, and his bandages were in a tangled mess beside him.
Roman sat beside Virgil and then he hugged him. "Virgil, everything is really going to be okay. I'm going to make sure that no one else will hurt you."
Virgil nodded and leaned into Roman, rubbing at his tears with one hand. "I-I'm sorry I messed with the cuts again…" He whispered.
"No, Virgil, it's okay… I know that you tend to do that when students mess with you… As long as you don't attempt to kill yourself then we'll be fine, because you'll get better," Roman said.
Virgil nodded again and moved a little closer. "I-I don't want to go back…" He whispered weakly. "I don't wanna go back to class… they'll be there."
"I'll let you skip this class to better your own mental state. I'd get all of them to leave you alone but it'll take much longer than just five minutes and you know that," Roman said.
"Yeah… I just… I want to go home…" Virgil buried his face in Roman's shoulder, trembling a bit.
"Virgil, I'm taking you home… I want you to be happy, and if home will make you happy, then we're going home…" Roman said before picking Virgil up and taking him back home.
Virgil clung to Roman the whole way back, falling eerily silent. His breathing was the only audible sound he made.
"Virgil, is something wrong? I know that the students have been bullying you again, but is there something else bothering you?" Roman asked.
Virgil didn't reply, only burying his face further into Roman's shoulder. He clearly wasn't willing to talk right now.
"We'll talk later…" Roman said as they arrived back home. "Anyways, we're home now, Virgil." He opened the door and walked into the house, going to his room.
