"We might. I'll go look." Roman got up and headed to the bathroom, and opened the medicine cabinet. A few minutes later he walked back out holding a bottle of pills. "Here we are," he said, setting them down.
"We might. I'll go look." Roman got up and headed to the bathroom, and opened the medicine cabinet. A few minutes later he walked back out holding a bottle of pills. "Here we are," he said, setting them down.
"Cool cool." Virgil took the bottle and shoved it in his hoodie pocket. "How long do you think I could sleep if I took all of them at once?"
Roman almost got up and snatched the bottle out of his pocket. "Don't do that. You'll die." He said sternly, glancing to Logan for support. He nodded in agreement, but also with a bit of a worried expression on his face. "I'm sure you knew that.." he trailed off.
"I'm not entirely sure I can die anyways. I mean, if I can, I definitely should've by now…" He muttered, leaning back in his chair casually.
"Don't say that!" Roman cried. "We would have never let you die."
Virgil flinched when Roman raised his voice. "I'm not saying you guys had anything to do with it, necessarily… I'm saying if I could die, I probably would have done so by now. You aren't in my room all the time, you know."
"Well, we would have still…" Roman trailed off, a look of desperation in his eyes. "We would have done something."
Virgil shrugged. "You can't always stop me. I can't always stop myself. That isn't really your fault, Ro."
Roman looked down. He nothing else to say. He knew that he would never let anything bad happen to Virgil…but what if it was out of his power? He could never live it down. "Well…I doubt we can even die anyway. At least not until Thomas does."
"Probably. He can't cease to have anxiety, unfortunately. I've heard a certain level of anxiety is healthy, I just…" He struggled with his words. "I-I feel like I overdo it…"
"Virgil, trust me, there are people with way worse anxiety than Thomas," Roman soothed. "Look how happy and successful he is!" As he said that, he spread out his arms as if he was showing off something.
"Is he happy…?" Virgil asked weakly. "Whenever I show up, he just… I dunno… it's pretty clear I'm not wanted…"
"Of course he's happy. Though anxiety may not be the most convenient at times, it's what keeps him alive." He let a little smile curl at his lips. "He may not show it but he really appreciates you."
"I dunno…" Virgil looked away and curled in on himself a bit. He seemed pretty tense and jumpy at the moment, and he'd pulled his hood up more to hide his face.
Roman stood and pulled down Virgil's good gently. He leaned in and kissed him on the forehead lightly. "Well, I appreciate you, at least," he said softly, drawing back.
Virgil froze and slowly began to blush scarlet, his eyes wide and fixed on Roman. Despite the context, Patton couldn't help but grin and get adorably excited, hugging Logan tightly.
Roman rolled his eyes playfully at Patton's enthusiasm, then turned back to Virgil. "You look much better without your hood, even bright red." His cheeks also had a warm glow to them.
Virgil opened his mouth to say something, but he just fell silent and closed his eyes. He turned his head away, trying to fight down his blush. Patton took Logan by the hand and pulled him out into the living room to give Roman and Virgil some space.
"You don't have to hide yourself." Roman beamed. "Look at me." He didn't say it sternly, but softly. He gently tilted Virgil's head to face him with his hand. "I love you, okay?"
He blushed harder, trembling slightly. His eyes said he felt the same, but he was scared. Unsurprisingly, he was pretty anxious about it. "I… I-I can't… I can't…" He whispered, trying weakly to pull away. "Love is dangerous… I c-can't…" He started to breathe quicker and more shallowly, feeling lightheaded. His heart pounded in his chest, though he could feel it everywhere in his body.
Roman let his hand drop, but a few moments later, leaned in and kissed him on the lips. He didn't stay long, as to not cause Virgil to pass out again, and sat back down. "Love isn't dangerous. It's risky but not dangerous. Let's try it out, okay?" A warm, sincere smile was on his face.
Virgil's eyes were shining with tears, but after a few seconds of hesitation, he hugged Roman tightly. "O-Okay, I… you'll have to be patient with me… I'm sorry…" He whispered. "We can give it a go, but… please…" Be careful with me… I'm scared. He didn't voice this last part, but it was pretty clear what he was trying to say.
Roman held Virgil close, pressing their warm bodies together. "Of course. You don't have to be sorry." He soothed.
Virgil nodded, burying his face in Roman's shoulder. "Th-Thanks, Ro…" He said softly, tightening his grip on Roman a bit for more security.
Roman didn't say anything, only nodded briefly, smiling and closing his eyes though Virgil couldn't see. He allowed Virgil to tighten his grip on him and held him tighter as well.
