(Colt needs older sibling figures who aren't constantly outshining him and making him feel bad about everything he ever does so uh)
(He'll probably get along with everyone alright lmao. He can just,,, quietly follow Jada around because she seems chill. Maybe she pities him since she's a legilimens and she can tell he's self conscious and insecure lmaooo)
(I feel like Nathan would view Colt as a baby bird thay fell out of its nest.)
(Yes-)
(He's just the baby of the group honestly)
(He pretends to be annoyed but honestly he likes the attention lol)
(A band of misfits, a found family)
(Found Family is one of my favorite tropes so 😩🙏)
(I love found family tropes. My favourite version is one where they live in a big house together and have different age groups. Perfect 👌)
(We gotta get this going aha. Throwing all the babies together 👀)
(Jada's the mom, but like the mom who will watch you fall on your face and call you stupid but the second you're not eating 3 square meals a day and sleeping 8 hours she goes berserk)
(She'll be going berserk over Colt a lot then lmao)
(And Nate lmao. Nathan is like the grouchy uncle who is annoyed by you a lot but will come help you if you call him)
(New siblings 🥰)
(I mean, Kieran does care about Colt, but he's too preoccupied with his own stuff to really be bothered most of the time oop)
(Oof)
(When will we start?)
(a baby slytherin, a bamf slytherin, an angry gryffindor, a chill ravenclaw, and a traumatized Hufflepuff)
(A perfect group, if i do say so myself, MJ)
(And Cass, the angry girl who would bite your head off if anyone came too close to the ones she loves.)
(Soon, I just need your guys inputs. How should we even start? Any ideas?)
(maybe the train and they're all just chilling the same cart together. Not the same little cubby, but the same part of the train and somehow get aquatinted with each other there)
(If we start at the school, Nate is just going to be at the lake, debating swimming. If we start on the train, he'll probably be sitting in an empty compartment, vibing)
(The train sounds good to me ^^)
(Hm….well the train does sound like a nice way to get everyone introduced… I think we might go with the train setting. I'll put up a starter quite soon (in about fifteen minutes or so).)
Cassiopeia sighed as she put the last of her belongings into the train. Her father was standing beside her, smiling at her. When Cassiopeia came home for the holidays, her guardians were eager to know what had happened at Hogwarts so far. When she told them she had been sorted into Gryffindor, there was a silence that filled the cottage. A silence that filled her with dread. Are they mad that I hadn't been sorted into Slytherin? I know I am. She had thought. She waited for the worse but was shocked when her father laughed.
"Told you she was going to be in Gryffindor. Hand over the five galleons, mum." Her father had said with a smug smirk. With a scowl, Alexandra took out five galleons and passed them over to her son. She turned to look at her granddaughter and embraced her. "You could've at least lied. Then I wouldn't have to deal with your father being insufferable for the rest of the year and the summer," She had whispered into her ear. That only made Cassiopeia laugh.
Cass looked up at her father and smiled back. She hugged her father and was practically still clinging onto him when he broke the hug a couple of seconds later. The man chuckled, his black eyes twinkling, as he looked down at his beloved daughter. After a goodbye, a threat, and another hug, Cassiopeia finally entered the train. As she walked down the compartments, she realized that the upper part of the train was full, while the middle part was semi-full. If she wanted peace and quiet, she would have to go to the end. And so, that was what she did.
She did notice that there were a few other people at the end of the train. Though she knew it wouldn't be like the front and the middle, where people would just barge in, and sit down with you, and giving you no time to protest against it. She had the misfortune to go through that experience in her first year. She smiled to herself as she picked an open compartment and sat near the window. She took out a black bag she had with her and pulled out a book. Minutes later, her full attention was on the book in her hands.
With a family full of Pureblood Slytherins, Colton's family had been plenty pleased with the house he'd been sorted into. He didn't mind much either way; honestly, he was glad to be going to Hogwarts at all, but he did like to have the approval from his family. However, he absolutely hated having Kieran hovering around him constantly in the dorm. He did everything in his power to avoid his brother.
On the train, he was grumbling to himself as his brother scolded him, and he seemed very annoyed. "Christ, Kieran! Just leave me be! I'm not a little first year anymore!" He snapped at him, trying to push his brother away to no avail. Kieran was much bigger and stronger than him, after all. Of course he was. "I don't need you hovering over me all the time. Bugger off before I hex you or something." Kieran scoffed a bit. "Sure, Colt. I'd love to see you try. They haven't taught you any hexes yet." Colton groaned and picked up the pace. "Just go away! I don't wanna talk to you!" He managed to get into a compartment and locked himself inside, separated from Kieran. "Go hang out with your stuffy Prefect buddies!"
He sighed softly in relief when he was finally alone, flopping down on the seat. He didn't even really care that other people would have heard his yelling. Citrine hissed softly to him and he turned his attention to her, subtly striking up a conversation to keep himself occupied without drawing attention to himself.
"So many half-bloods, it's disgusting." Nate's father used his wand to push aside a pair of blonde kids, chittering about the newest broom that came out. He muttered to his wife about the lack of pure bloods at the station while Nate sighed. They reached the end of the station and Nate dropped off his luggage, keeping a small knapsack with him. The bag had a few necessities, some things for Echo and a few books for him. He slung the bag on his shoulder and picked up Echo. Nathan walked to the first gate and stopped, looking at his parents with a tired gaze. "Stand straight Nathaniel, you are our son." His mother's said from beside him.
Nathan rolled his eyes at his full name but did as she asked. The quicker they were satisfied, the faster they would let him leave. "I do hope your spending your time wisely child, I would hate to see what the outcome will be for a failed child of the Graye family." Nathan stiffened and looked away from his family to the others boarding the train. Many of the children and families there were laughing, the occasional tears being shed at the mother's expense. "Well, the train may be about to leave. Continue doing… whatever it is you Hufflepuffs do." His father patted his shoulder with a firm hand and started moving across the platform again, not bothering to stay long enough to say goodbye. His mother sniffed and brushed his hair with her fingers. "Do keep your appearance in check? Be sure to write, your father will fly to the school if he doesn't hear from you in more than a month." She curtly nodded at him and followed his father down the platform.
Nathan grumbled and fluffed his hair again, letting it go back to being messy. Most of the train compartments had been filled already, ruing Nate's chances of finding an empty one for himself. He sighed deeply and walked down the aisle, keeping Echo pressed against his body or she would run off. While most of the compartments at the back weren't filled completely, only one of them was to his liking. There was just one issue, someone was already sitting there, immersed in a book.
Clearing his throat and running a hand through his hair nervously, Nathan knocked on the window of the compartment twice and opened the door, leaning against the frame. "My apologies, I know an immersive reader when I see one, but the other compartments are full and this is the only one with less than 4 people." He said, rubbing Echo's back. "Do you mind if I join you?"
On September 1st, 1975, Jada had just finished saying goodbye to her parents and brother and had boarded the Hogwarts Express. Her mother cried, her father hugged a lot, and her brother just wished her luck in 4th year Transfiguration. Apparently, it was absolute hell and Jada was already no good at Transfiguration. After she said her goodbyes, Jada and her two cats boarded the train.
Jada had just sat down in her small little room, sitting next to her best friend, Regulus Black, and across from another good friend of theirs, Barty Crouch Jr., and her sleeping cats next to him. It had always been the three of them since first year. An inseparable trio.
Regulus almost immediately got to work on a letter to someone. There was no name in the header but Jada could still hear his voice, clear as day: "Andy, I know you told me to look out for Sirius, but that might be difficult…"
Jada decided not to listen anymore and opened a book. The Picture of Dorian Gray, an old favorite.
Cassiopeia looked up from her book and looked at the boy at the entrance. She pushed some of her red hair behind her ear and frowned slightly. She had hoped that nobody would have entered the compartment, which really was a lot to ask. She snorted to herself and put her book down. You're stupid to think that you'd be left alone. Though at least he asked if it would be alright for him to join me..and it would be rude to decline and make him awkwardly find another one. Well, it wouldn't hurt to let him in, as long as he doesn't bother me too much.
After a bit of thinking, Cassiopeia shrugged. "It's fine with me, I guess." She eyed Echo, which somehow immediately made her think of Midnight. Echo didn't even look anything similar to her owl, yet here she was feeling emotional once again. And she hated it. She had accidentally injured Midnight during the summer and while Midnight had forgiven her quite quickly, Cassiopeia had been terrified of what she'd done.
She sighed as she picked up her book, and tried to get herself back into where she had left off, but she quickly realized that wouldn't be the case. She closed the book, but not before putting a small green bookmarker, and put it to her side. As she looked out the window, she wondered if she would be able to finally spot the place her cottage was located in. However how slim her chances were of actually locating it, she liked to give her mind something to do while she was stressed.
"Colt, just let me in. Don't make this difficult." Kieran sighed softly, pinching the bridge of his nose. "No! Go away! I don't want you here!" Colton yelled back, not minding his volume. Kieran pulled out his wand and easily unlocked the door, making Colton yell at him more and try and hit him away. Kieran pinned Colt to the seat, shushing him, but Colt only yelled louder. Maybe someone will even get this idiot to get out. "LET GO OF ME!" Colt struggled against Kieran's hold, but his brother was stronger than him, and he just covered Colt's mouth with one hand. "Colt, stop screaming! I swear to god… mother and father told me to keep an eye on you." Colton shook his head, still struggling and glaring up at Kieran. Citrine hissed at Kieran, rearing up to bite him.
