Theo had a brief nightmare of the Spinnetod trying to feed on him and what would have happened if Meg hadn't been there. He jerked awake as it connected with his neck in-dream. He checked his clock and it was about two hours before he had to get up, but after that dream he no longer craved the two extra hours.
If Meg knew what time Theo had woken up, she would have realized that she woke up an hour after he did. She stretched and got out of bed, heading over to take a shower to start the day.
Theo was already taking the walk to his shop before Meghan even got out of the shower. He simply waited behind the front desk after opening up to wait for the book shipment. He heard something in the back alley that roused his curiosity. It was too early for the shipment…so what could it be?
After she finished washing up, she threw on a pair of her nicer jeans, a button-down shirt and her usual coat and bag. Making sure she had the usual paperwork for her new job, she hopped into the Jeep and headed over to the bookstore. On her way over she stopped and picked-up some coffee. She smiled as she finally pulled up to her first day of work. ”Good morning.”
Theo pushed the noise into the back of his head as he smiled at Meghan as she entered "Heya Meghan" he waved a bit as he tapped out of the tab he had been on at his desk. "You got the papers?"
”Yeah, right here.” Meg smiled, tapping her bag. ”I hope you don't mind but I also brought you some coffee. Well, one’s black coffee but I also got you an Earl Grey. I wasn't sure which you’d like more.” she said setting the carry tray on the counter along with some packets of cream and sugar.
"Ah you brought my life blood." he joked as he took a sip of the coffee "Thanks Meghan. Now let's go through those papers so we can get those out of the way."
Meg chuckled, lifting her hazelnut blend in a small salute before pulling out her papers. ”Anything for me to fill out?” she asked as she handed the file folder to him.
"Just sign here and here to confirm that you are indeed…Meghan Hill" he said but was half distracted by another noise he heard in the alley outside in the back.
Meg noticed his distracted behavior and frowned a little as she signed her name. ”Is something wrong?” she asked, glancing around casually, trying to pick up on what he noticed.
"Probably just a raccoon or something." Theo told her as he waved it off "Alright it seems we're all set."
Meg raised a brow, reading his uncertainty. ”Want me to check it out?” she asked. As a Grimm, she was actually really good security. She may not have had the formal training for that kind of position but she had good instincts.
"I mean…sure if you want to." Theo said to her with a little shrug "I'll go with you." He got out from behind the counter and slipped out the front door, motioning for her to follow
”Better safe than sorry.” she shrugged back and quietly followed him. Maybe it was just paranoia on her part but she really couldn't be too careful. She was already going over the weapons she had hidden on her and how fast it would take her to reach them.
It did in fact end up being just some wild animal that was dragging some food and scraps of metal to it's nest "Well I guess we should be glad for that." Theo chuckled as he watched the animal
Meg relaxed her tense posture and chuckled. ”Yeah.” she agreed. ”Sorry for… I don't know. Overreacting, I guess. I’m not usually so jumpy unless I'm working like I was last night.” she apologized.
"It's alright don't worry too bad about it." he told meg, patting her shoulder gently as he made his way back inside "We still got a long day ahead of us."
”Thanks.” She nodded and headed back into the building. ”What would you like me to start on?” she asked, wanting help and maybe it would help her calm down more.
"Well it looks like," Theo said, looking out the street a s a truck pulled in front of the store ,"That the new book shipments are here. Why don't you help me bring them inside?"
”No problem.” she smiled, calmly walking over to the truck. It looked like a big shipment but it shouldn't be a problem for the two of them.
hey moved the shipment in no problem and they had all the boxes in before they knew it. "Alright now we gotta sort them my genre." Theo said as the first customer walked into the store
Meg nodded at him, opening the first box before turning to the customer. ”Oh, hi.” she smiled, a little nervously and not making direct eye contact. ”How can we help you?”
It was an older lady "Yes dearie I was told that you had in the latest novel I usually read. It's The Promise Broken series."
Theo chuckled as he handed over a steamy book over to Meg to scan. "You heard right Miss Grant and there it is."
Meg almost raised a brow as Theo handed her the book, not expecting the old lady to be into that kind of reading. She nodded to the lady and scanned her order into the computer before telling her the amount.
(Oh man my grandmother loves those books and it just tickles me)
"Oh goodie. Here you are sweetie." and with her amount she also tucked another couple of dollars into Meg's hand "Wonderful to see a new face." and with that she left the shop.
