“You can’t just bust her out! Then we’ll all be put on trial!” Valerie whispered.

“Okay, good point,” Cato mumbled. “Though its tempting.”

“Okay freeze the both of you, what?” Arianna asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

“Nothing, nothing,” Cato said, trying and failing to use a nonchalant tone. “How’re you?”

Arianna raised an eyebrow, “So why is this your fault?”

“Um. I may or may not have given Alexander a cured blade I found a few years back in the forge?” Cato mumbled, blushing red. “I’m sorry.”

Arianna looked at him and blinked. “Good bye,” she muttered, going to the far corner of the cell.

“No, no, no, here’s the thing. Do you have a trail?”

“Yes,” Arianna sighed, “this is the probably the worst thing that happened so far.”

“No, it’s the best. I’m going to free you of charges.”

“… I’m a little scared to ask how.”

“By incriminating myself. Duh,” Cato said with a shrug.

“What?! NO-“

“Yes,” Cato said. “This is my fault anyway.”

“Wait, that wasn’t the plan-“ Valerie said, grabbing his arm. “They’ll kill you for it.”

“Nope. I make their weapons. Worst case, exile,” Cato nodded.

“That’s still horrible.”

“Eh. Maybe I’ll get my memories back,” Cato muttered.

“Yeah!”

“Okay, so we’re agreed,” Cato said, nodding.

“Arianna, when’s your trial? Tomorrow?”
